I like to play around just outside max range of Ken’s f+MK so I can bait it for back run Tortilla. Other than that, if I know he’s going for an uppercut on wakeup, crossup splash is simple and annoying. Irritating when he just gets in your face, so I tend to keep away and just block a lot more.
Updated descriptions on specials and so on. Touched up Abel and Akuma matchup, changed punchline for Balrog (Boxer) and for Specials
Thanks again Densuo, great information as usual
Added the run stop Guac/Ultra method in the expanding your game section.
U should never full screen wall jump at anybody with a dp if he’s not TU u everytime then he’s prob not very good. If u wanna get in against sagat u should either ex run through his fireballs or use the invincibility of tostada to go through them as well.
He can jumping fierce you when you do that every time, or uppercut you. Wall jump is sort of a bad idea against sagat unless you confirm that he threw a fireball before jumping forward off the wall. Even if you pull your wall jump back away from him he can kara-uppercut you.
yeah dull screen if you got the life lead and wanna kill clock. otherwise get a bit close and bait something with EX Run is what I do >_>
i feel your pain, cr.lk makes your hit box lower so you can avoid tiger knees, although im not sure if that works at point blank range. Anyways after the cr.lk you can throw i believe
Added Halcyonryu post about Abel. I still want input for the Expanding your game section. Anything you guys do to add upon the mixup.
at start of the round I’m holding a kick button. I always run back to start the round and start. If they tiger knee I get a free tortilla. If I land said tortilla go for a safe tortilla/ bait an uppercut, if they uppercut, It’s FA crumple to close Fierce xx Q-bomb level 3 to shove them into the wall the mixup begins.
otherwise I hand back:
once at long, absorb some tiger shots, kill the clock.
I prefer keeping at midlong range afterwards, scare them by EX Running through tiger shot and depending on timing either slide them, or bait a knee or uppercut. Punish/Escape accordingly and go right back to turtling.
A couple of things I want to mention. You mentioned that one option is to run -> stop -> jump forward, to expand a bit on that (what I will mention is mostly known stuff, but broken down for clarity, feel free to completely ignore it if it is not very useful or redundant :D)
jump forward can lead to: airthrow (which catches any attempts of jumping, as well as backdashes that are considered airborne) , cross fierce, or normal fierce. normal and cross can lead to some ambiguity, especially against characters with large hitboxes like Rufus, and helps a lot in confusing them and setting up for more RSF.
Another mixup option i like to use on wakeup, but is not very safe, is dropkicks. I run, stop and dropkick. It helps against those who like to FA on wakeup, and is safe from backdashes, punishes front dashes and those who like to crouch and block expecting a slide. The two big issues with it, its pretty risky against some characters, especially those with DPs since they beat dropkick. The other problem is that it doesn’t lead to a knockdown, which might end up messing up the mixup game more than helping it. It can help in adding some good stun though, and can confuse the other player with its weird properties.
I tend to use dropkick. If the overhead part hits you can combo crmk xx run
That’s why it doesn’t combo for me all the time lol never knew it had to be the overhead part that connects, I thought it should work if it connects in any way, but I just suck and thats why it doesn’t come out always. Thanks amigo!
Can’t wait for a full list of things we can punish with the UltraSpark
Its gonna be a pretty long list lol
I know… I’m looking forward to us all putting together our info into 1 giant list
i think this is what we’re all looking forward to
Balrog: everything
With ultra 2, that might just be the truth. :woot:
the stuff linked in the OP doesn’t really help much against Seth. If i EX run, he can just wall jump or teleport away and put me back at square one. The ones that beat me are good at keep away – mainly with jumping fierce. Guac isn’t always an option. Maybe my timing/spacing is off? Any good videos showing fuerte against a good seth?
The good seths i know of are Online Tony and Auturo.
But i don’t recall fuerte vs seth vids with them, though i have seen seth vs fuerte where seth destroys fuerte.
as for the soon-to-be giant list… can we possibly start something now? on the SFIV characters, and possibly confirm them afterwards?
does it have a few invincibility frames on start up? Ultra Spark on Metsu Hadoken would be full of win if it was invincible or was able to slide under.
