El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

I’ve played his Akuma and I’d still rather play an Akuma over a Sagat.

The only counterpick for Fuerte is a competent player with any character.

I love me some Gief action, prolly because 99% of giefs have no idea what to do against Fuerte. That 1% is Ultradavid.

So. Here’s a question. How do I get peeps in the corner? I mostly turtle with Furte as it is. But I’m too busy turtling and doing corpsehop shenanigans to ever really corner. I wanna abuse someone in the corner.

Of course when ya run and they jump back just stop and don’t give that ground back but I think since Fuerte has crap for pokes it hinders cornering ability save for a knockdown qbomb that is quick standable anyway

edit: I like using f+mk and far standing hk on peeps with no dp (except gief). I believeim doing it nice and meaty. I must say. It’s nice versus bison as it stuff all his moves and gets him jumpy for a teleport. I’ve been wondering about using gordita sobat as a meaty to see if it does anygood( yes. I know. I haven’t given up on that move yet)

Has anyone tried that TKD frame trap of far standing FP to mp?

Edit2: I looked at the topic on front page about footsies.

Besides run stops and backsteps. I like running and holding back while I tostada. Whiffing splash on fireballers. Moving backwards and then outta nowhere f+mk and random dropkicks to see a reaction. How bout you guys?

Edit 3: wait wait wait wait. I think paper’s on to something here. If you rsf let’s say twice then EX run and do nothing. Would a mashed dp by Ryu still be a bullshit counterhit??? Or would it absorb the hit for Free reset for RSF?? Free ultra? Free punish?

It may work, but wouldn’t it work about the same as just stopping your run (if they are mashing a DP) and not waste an EX bar?

True. But I want that extra despair of absorbing that bullshit hit and beating them down anyway, ignoring their futile mash to beat that ass anyway. An insult. Just like it’s an insult to ex rsf. It’s basically saying here have your dp. FUCK your dp.

Think about it. How many Ryus out there are fishing for that dp fadc ultra late in the game?

Fuerte RSFs
Ryu starts mashing dp
fuerte ex runs
ryu dp hits
fuerte absorbs
ryu fadc ultras off of muscle memory
fuerte cross over splash/nuetral jump
Ryu whiffs
Punish that shit.

Doesn’t sound like a waste of meter on my end. Ryu burned 2 meter and spent his ultra.

There’s been plenty time I burned meter on an ex run to absorb a fire ball and then just stop or do backsteps and the opponent reacts with something stupid and I get a free knockdown.

Ex run isn’t for baiting, its for getting away, running through projectiles or being a badass with RSF.

If you’re going to bait a dp with a stop in rsf (useless in the first place, only usable against scrubs) then you might as well run back stop ultra and hope to god he’s not spamming throw.

If the DP hits as a reversal (which it more than likely will since he’s mashing) then it will have armor break properties, which will probably count as a counter-hit and add more damage…

This is usually what I do.

which is retarded. When Ryu is on wakeup a DP counts as reversal long after Fuerte is in EX Runs. The “Reversal” window is gigantic.

But yeah. Stupid Idea is Stupid.

I only use EX run for baiting sometimes when I need one more hit to win the match. A lot of people would assume that since you did EX run through a projectile you are planning to attack, because otherwise it is a waste of meter (which is true). BUT, that thought process can be used against them, so I EX run to bait, they jump away most of the time, I stop and catch them with EX guac and end the match. I don’t do this very often to not be predictable though.

Have fun trying to bait something and getting hit by some bullshit this sf4 engine allows (i.e. the previosly mentioned reversal shoryuken [-> fadc ultra] and losing a large amount of health and probably the game if he has a full ultra.

run that clock out son, you’re in no hurry.

If you’re both at low health (even if you’re not but ESPECIALLY if you’re at low health) wait for them to do something and punish it.
If you have the life lead you’re in control of the match, wait for them to do something stupid and punish it the opportunity will present itself, you don’t need to create it.

That’s what I’ve been trying to stick to. Run the clock. But sometimes that urge to mix it up takes over.

My biggest mistake when trying to run the clock is cornering myself. Granted sometimes I get a bye and the opponent proceeds to spam fire balls. But I did get rid of the habit of wall jumpingwith no purpose

lol I just thought I’d mention it because it worked sometimes, but it is obviously not a very reliable strategy. I don’t do it very often, but when it works its very satisfying  (and when it doesnt I feel like shit T_T)

I am still trying to teach myself to be patient, the mixup urge takes over more than it should unfortunately. I will try and keep the clock more in my mind, thanks for the reminder. Against Blanka though I am a patient boy, I learned it the hard way, just need to apply it more with other matchups.

Random question, am I the only one who thinks Fuerte’s winning quotes are pure WIN???

We’re buddies now! So uh… GO GET ME INGREDIENTS BITCH!

I really should find out what all his win quotes are, I just select random.

But Another random question, who else cant help doing Elf’s taunt 03 after a tortilla? ’ VIVA! ’ is just too awesome.
Even if the match is going bad and not turning back, this needs to be done at least once a round. :bgrin:

I have his voice set to japanese… but yeah, for those interested:

I’ll go with: Win Quote vs. Akuma You’re so quiet. You must not have many amigos. I’ll be your friend!

Thanks man, thats awesome!!!

That quote with Akuma is sig-worthy loool

Seems like Fuerte has a thing for Rose :bgrin:

Agreed! anyone using Fuerte in tournaments should be disqualified if he doesn’t do it!!

Yeah thanks for the link Densuo. I really like the ’ That was fun! Let’s fight again sometime, amigo! ’ & ’ From today onward we’re amigos! Can I send you out for ingredients now? ’

kinda like ’ yeah I kicked your ass but we could still be friends, I’m nice like that see? ’

I’ve just realised I hardly ever read the win quotes. The only one I can remember is RIIIIIKKKKOOOOO!!! (I’ve got a Japanese copy of the game)

Too bad Q-Bomb’s start up is slow… I’d like to bust one out after FADCing a fireball. Great counter hit chance

That would be sweet, you could maybe do it to Ken because his Fireball sucks but I don’t think so.
