I want to thank Halcyonryu for his post about playing runaway. It lead to an awesome and EASY perfect win against an Akuma. All I had to do was slide one stupid Air fireball attempt, he kept trying to hit me with air and ground balls, found it to be useless and started coming to me, to eat airthrows, Guacs, and Tortillas. easiest perfect ever.
It’s a solid tactic but I find it really hard to do which annoys the hell out of me. I’ve lost count the number of matches I’ve lost to being too aggressive. : )
Same. I think with Shotos in general just get that first Knockdown, and just play keep away seems to always guarantee a few spent seconds, calm yourself down, get them restless. They waste time with Fireballs. you get free Ultra bar, or just jump over and maybe get a setup
Yeah definetly. My main trouble I find is at the start of a round I sometimes screw up trying to get in on a cagey shoto and they get a combo in giving them the luxury of sitting back on their life lead waiting for me to get in. It’s part the reason I love fuerte though is keeping the pressure on them but knowing when to ease back to.
Akumas can be the worst for turtling to which always makes me laugh, seems such a waste with his combos and mixup. If I was any way decent with akuma I’d be rushing people down so bad most the time then switching to turtling with the teleports. I find good akumas can really dictate the tempo of a match if they want.
my fellow fuerte players, just curious i wanted to see what tactics other players do that really make you laugh or irritate you. ill start.
shotos- desperate fireballs, light shoryuken spamming, trying to tech throw too much, runaway akumas, just getting tired of the endless ryu’s out there, kens annoying taunts (love beating them after they taunt), kens ex shoryukens spams (hilarious)
blanka- turtling, electricity after every single move, wake up ultras
balrog- everything especially headbutt and cr.hk, his throws
bison - teleports, head stomps after every move
cammy- those f’n cannon spikes
vega- nothing easy match up
guile- sonic boom, sonic boom , sonic boom, jump away full screen sonic boom etc
honda- turtling
zangief- spinning lariat still hits you even after you block and try to counter, all your hard work goes to waste if you get hit 3 times
chun li - her backdashes, her split leg kick, cr.hk
dhalsim - his zoning and teleports
rufus- tons of set ups into ultras
sagat- tiger knee spams, tiger shots, jumping away (cant believe some sagats run from fuerte hahah)
sakura - crazy mixups (she is actually a decent character)
seth - his damn jumping fp spams
gen- fast jumps
rose- her fast slides
fei long- his croucing fp, and fast dashes
abel - tech throws
viper - her some of her ex moves cause fuertes splashes to whiff, her voice, flame kick
dan - nothing he is dantasic!
in general - players who taunt only to get a trip to splash mountain, players who run away and fireball, i dont know why but fireballs really irritate me (even if its only one)…can characters with fireballs still be good if there fireballs are taken away? …people who play their crappy music during matches and scream into the mic.
thats it… just wanted to do this for fun and to see what irritates my fellow fuerte players.

You know, speaking of whats the funniest matchups, its when a guy gets tired of being beaten up by my Fuerte, and then picks him against me to try and “get back at me”, only for me to pick ANY other character and destroy his imitation Fuerte with basic anti-Fuerte tactics

I am mostly talking about people who are a bit scrubby, they tend to think I am being cheap by using Fuerte since his moves LOOK easy on paper, they send me a bit of hate mail as well. but when they pick him, they mostly do the same moves trying to imitate mine, but in completely wrong timings and so they get very irritated (like why does thier tortilla fails to beat my shoryuken, but my tortilla catches thiers). If the player is nice I would actually teach them and try to help them with thier Fuerte matchups, but if they are jerks I would just watch and laugh at them.
I am actually interested to know more about it, would appreciate a thread about it (maybe with links to videos of top luchadors and some info) not sure if this is the right forum for it though, but I personally wouldn’t mind to see one here :woot:
Same here. I would really appreciate clips of matches since I don’t have the patience to watch whole matches on the Spanish channels.
fortunately i live somewhat near the mexican border so i get to see some lucha libre action live…there are some awesome luchadors like mistico,extreme tiger, aerostar, blue demon, etc etc

I think I had a Mexigasm from watching that Mistico video. I could spot the Tortilla Propeller, the El Fuerte Flying Giga Buster, and the Fajita Buster. I also loved Me Muero.

OH! almost forgot…lol what if you were supa psychic with fuerte and used his taunt #7 ? (when he does the split) …taunts can be canceled on command by any move you put in so what it coulb be a very slight part of your gameplay(its sorta a slow taunt i know…but what if?) i did it in a match ONCE messin around…ON ACCIDENT! funniest accident i made that match and the opponent was pissed too haha… this may be one of the most silly things i have ever posted…but i have an imagination! and im sure if you play a character like fuerte and your a random thinker then things like this cross our minds a ton! haha…share thoughts =) , and /or carry-on

This is just tooo cool :wow: lucha libre for life :woot: watching these videos makes me want to instantly pick up SF4 and play as Fuerte even more.
btw, is anyone here good with modding on PC? I have been going to the costumes thread on the main SF4 discussion forums, Ive requested a Rey mysterio Fuertre skin several times but no one cared, I was completely ignored :crybaby: I honestly wish I can make those skins, but I have zero talent in this kind of stuff. If anyone here is good at this, and has the time to do it, I would highly appreciate it. Maybe release a bunch of Fuerte costumes as famous cool luchadors like Mysterio and Mistico, and others.
