figaro: Read the first post of the quick questions thread. There’s a few things there.
At arcade, I use Dhalsim and Claw as my alternates, but these guys are played more with lots of long range pokes, so you have to be even more patient. And they die just as quick as Fuerte unfortunately.
On console, Cammy and Gen for me. Gen is really satisfying once you get your head around him, has almost as much tricky nonsense as Fuerte and he’s great at aggressive play. Plus, easy confirms into Ultra and a great getaway move in EX walldive.
Cammy’s got speed and can also play aggressively, and she’s got that upwards thrust kick to get her out of tight spots.
Just played my brother for the first time this week(he’s usually in another country) and he said playing against El Fuerte was bad for his heart. You just don’t get that effect with anyone else. That’s the best reason I’ve ever had to keep using El Fuerte. I’m gonna keep trying to give my opponent heart attacks.
I just love it when scrubs face my fuerte and disconnect after one round after having a panic attack… priceless.
btw, I went today for the prelimenaries for the Dubai Tournament, and I qualified with ease. Most of the people I played against just didn’t know the matchup at ALL, and they looked at me in awe and despair after getting splashed and tortilla’ed to death :bgrin: I really hope the finals will provide more challenge, otherwise I won’t feel satisfied winning the tourney. Well, it will be on Oct 27th, they are still holding more prelimenaries before then to get more people into the tourny, looking forward to it. I feel like all this training for the past two months is paying off now (along with reading the awesome threads in here), Ive been having more success with Fuerte than ever, so I am not considering any alternate picks for now.
Be careful with Guacamole Leg Throw… certain moves (Sakura’s jumping RH) will eat that move alive. I like doing it when the opponent is in the corner, you know, the guys that like Jumping back…
These are other Anti Air moves
**Air Throw ** Beats a crapload of moves
Crouching FP good speed and reach
Back run xx Tortilla (Fierce Punch) Perfect for stupidly done jump-ins or people that try to be funny with moves that alter how they fall (Air-Tatsu), dont forget , you can control it’s reach
Ultra Timing is key. Done right and used correctly, this move WILL make people NOT jump anymore. you can control it’s reach
Lots of uses. IMO one of the best normals in the game. It’s overhead (they have to block high), yet his hitbox goes low more like a slide (it’ll go under random stuff ). It links into s.lp chops and is great for pressure. After you’ve knocked someone down you can hop over them with f.mk for shenanigans. Especially useful on charge characters like balrog because it eliminates their charge for moves like dash punch.
And against bison it crosses him up standing if you’re close.
Wrong, his hitbox during f+mk becomes fucking huge. I dare to say it becomes larger and taller than his standing hitbox. Also I get thrown out of it from ridiculous ranges.
It does however warp through some, seemingly random, horizontal attacks, slightly above ground attacks, attacks that have armor/invulnerability, reversals, wtf! I still haven’t figured out all of its uses.
Ok… timing for FP xx run. I’m not even talking about RSF I just want to do FP xx run xx slide, this is what I want to do first before anything else, as I want to do that instead of single knockdowns and my only combos being:
cl HK xx Guac or the cardinal sin of jFP, FP xx Q-Bomb
for FP xx Run I cant seem to get it on my stick, WHEN am I supposed to input run? right on contact, just after? I get upset evertime I FP and nothing afterwards. I can crMP xx run practically everytime. but I can clFP xx run for the life of me. HELP!
The window for cancelling HP into the run is pretty large. Much larger than LP xx run. You could do it instantly or wait until like half of the hit animation has shown.
Just enable input display in training mode to see in which way you are messing up the inputs.
Well, a good start would be to find out when then window for buffering motions is open.
I’m still trying to do RSF, but I can get two punches now at least. What I did was that I did the combo where I performed my first ever cancel: Viper’s cr.MK xx M.Thunder Knuckle. I then realized that you can buffer the motion while the first attack is in motion.
Now, the hard part is remembering to repeat the pattern after landing the second punch.
Yeah you just have to get into the habit. I actually have a problem lately where I have kind of trained myself to splash after 3 hits and I can’t seem to keep going though I used to be able to hit 8-9 hits heh. Almost like I have to relearn it
Have a question though, here is one of Mechanica’s fights from Northwest Majors (vs. ScrubyDan(SA):

I really just have a question regarding 1:15 or so in the video, when he’s pinned in the corner with tiger knees. Is it possible to Ultra those tiger knees on block? I feel like i’ve done it before, and I really want to know the answer but I’m not able to test it out at the moment as I am at work.
You can’t c.lk the tiger knee if he has you in the corner can you? The first hit starts too early. I managed to pull off an Ultra as he used tiger knee but it wasn’t a reaction move, more an anticipation.
i have some tricks, but i know it’s been discussed before. Search
blocked vertical and horizontal balls can be punished quickly with a run slide, or just slide if he’s cornered
tortilla beats electricity when hit centered.
once you punish enough balls and electricity, he should start to just do nothing on wake up. capitalize appropriately.
Those are great strategies when you’re facing a decent Blanka. However, I noticed that a Blanka who throughly knows the matchup is a PAIN. They will tend to mix up thier EX vertical ball and electricity on wakeup to make it unsafe for you to do your usual mixup. You really need to mix it up a lot with him, like run forward to pretend that you will splash on wakeup and then stop and do tortilla instead for instance. A great Blanka will also be very careful with thier balls because they KNOW they will be countered freely with a slide, so they will tend to do short ones to be more safe. A blanka slide gives it invincibility against a splash as well…
What I do against a good Blanka is to maximize punishment on thier mistakes, I tend to wait more often and be less aggressive than usual, and fake a lot. fake your splashes and tortillas, and make sure you put in some unpredictible Qbombs and fajita busters. Make sure you punish a blocked blanka ultra with your own ultra, just wait a second after blocking it and then giga buster him. I still have a lot of difficulty with a knowledgable Blanka, because I tend to take risks, its a bad habit that I have more tips would be great, but key word is punish punish punish. I think knowing how to do RSF consistently can make a big difference. well timed slides are key as well, as can be seen from this video of TKD VS Mizoteru.

Notice that even the great TKD has trouble with a good Blanka, but he still won due to his good timing.
I’ve really just found that with Blanka I have more success getting some damage in in the beginning and then just backing off and letting him come to me.
