ohhh, I was hoping that one would reach the top 8 to make the character more popular. None of the japanese fuertes even participated, are they expected to be in any of the coming events?
Yeah, there’s a Mexican version of it, but if I recall correctly, there’s other versions of paella in other countries.
Good to see that El Fuerte’s made it to semi finals. It makes me as happy as a little jumbly bug. I wish I could have went and used my El Fuerte.
Congrats to Kai and Buktooth for making it into the Semi-Finals!
I give mad props to Buktooth for beating Choi during the 5 on 5 and even scoring a Perfect first round against him.
12th place.
That is all.
Congrats, man! You deserve it! :lovin:
Glad to see that both top Fuertes make it into top 16.
Kai, next time if you ever get a chance to go head to head with Justin’s Rufus again, are you going to switch characters?
Does anyone have any video of the El Fuerte fight? I missed it sadly.
Props to all the resident Fuerte’s who did what they did at Evo. Good stuff guys.
ggs earlier tonight BlueGuile - I was making a lot of mistakes, I’ve been playing way too much PC on my 360 pad. Though I was pretty happy when I got a 6 hit RSF in. (might have been 5, but I’d like to remember it as 6)
Hi Halcyonryu, we played a few matches on Sunday night after the EVO finals stream ended.
If I’m not using Fuerte, it’s really hard for me to get a win out of you (I think I got a lucky one win with Gen against your Fuerte).
Any tips for my Fuerte besides bad wakeup ultra habit and learning RSF?
Its alot easier to help people over the mic during the games than on the forum for specifics, but in general most fuerte players don’t meaty slide enough and when they do they don’t do the right things off of it. This is character specific of course, some characters I slide into more than others, but its really abusable in some matchups.
Get the timing so that you hit with the last frames of the slide, then you can counterhit whatever they do with jab. If you are getting thrown out of that jab, you aren’t sliding meaty enough or you are mistiming jab.
What you do off that jab is I think where some really inventive things can come. There are several things you can do with run stop low fwd, command overhead, run to regular throw, etc, that if you always do a different little series you can force some really unecessary mistakes from the opponent. I think this aspect of fuerte isn’t really explored that well.
I think most fuertes just slide to throw, and once the other person starts teching that it just becomes a way out for them.
Thanks for the matches tonight halcyonryu! I’ll have to strive to implement all the things I learned! =)
If I remember correctly, you can grab after a miss slide. Then again, I haven’t played the game (no access to it right now) in four months, so I haven’t been able to experiment further.
I had this problem to with wake-up ultra,Blue has shown me the light on what to do. use to whore it out when opponets get near me…but alas I do it no more.only on Jump-ins and whiffed moves should I activate the ultra. Ive gotten better on RSF, up to 2 then tortilla though…the motions are quick for it.
so you S.Fierce,QCF+lp,lp,S.Fierce,QCK+lp,lp,S.Fierce etc. just practice it in training…the timing needs to be exact
Blue or anyone else do you guys use Quesobomb in your gameplay?..when I ultra I hold two K’s and then after it done I jump around and EX queso…shattering all hopes for a counter…Blue you dont really use it from what ive seen…why is this?
I don’t use it because if someone blocks it you die and if someone happens to jump when you do it you also die.
Only the ex one does enough damage to really make the risk worth it ever and the only time that I can afford to lose 2 kick buttons for 8 seconds is during like an ultra animation, and if I just landed an ultra, that means the other guy has an ultra now, so if they block the ex bomb I’m dead. Also if I landed an ultra I am winning probably so I don’t need to take big risks like that. It’s a gimmick that has high potential to allow you to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Theres a few matchups where it has some sporadic uses. It’s okay to use rarely vs a zangief with no ex bars, since the only meterless punish is a regular glove which you can punish on hit with a throw(a pretty even trade but you get a knockdown). If he has meter though no thanks, ex glove punish is too dangerous. Might be some other matchups like that, but most characters can really light you up for blocking that move.
Check out the Q-Bomb thread for specific uses. It has uses, but as you likely experienced from Hal, is that there are usually better options
Hey all you El Fuerte Mixer-Uppers, Idk if you’d guys be interested but DarthPaul is coming up with an interesting idea to get people together seriously and train hard…He made this thread for people that want to dedicate their time to maybe attend next years EVO or any other local or non-local tournies.

Fixed, sry about that >_<.
This is very useful. Maybe I can get better with this.
