I only really pull out Tostada Flop when i think someone is expecting my Tortilla or something. I use it more than I would like, but it really is maybe 1 or two times a round and usually only when they were really low on health and I know that even if I trade it will take them out.
I also rarely if ever do it close, especially if I think the person is going to try and focus to stop it.
I have been doing really well with Fuerte lately, people seem to have a problem predicting me, I use the run stop a lot to bait them. I think I am missing two key aspects though, whenever I try to implement Q Bomb I usually miss the timing and get hit instead. Also, I barely pull off the RSF in training, so I still have a long way to go to apply it to actual matches. But man, playing as Fuerte is a blast, he’s funny and fast.
EDIT: I am a bigger fan of Mexican food now, love the guacamole sauce a LOT.
I think in honor of El Fuerte we should make a thread devoted for mexican food lol jk
Ill check the Q bomb thread, thanks for the tips Densou. The only time that I seem to use it is when I do jump+HP, HP, QBomb, super, very nice combo and satisfying once applied.
One of the best focus stoppers (aside from tortilla throw) is run back, stop, far HK. Run forward may work even better, because people expect a press or a slide more often there… run back, people are more scared of tortilla after you’ve trained them.
I love that move, and it can trade or beat certain weird moves (like it beats Honda’s non-EX headbutt straight up). It’s kind of like the lariat in that focusing it is a horrible idea, because you’ll eat two hits and two times the stun for the price of one, and I believe you’ll always get two hits if they try to focus any part of it. You can throw it out so fast after run stop, so trying to pre-emptively focus after seeing the start of the run isn’t going to work. It’s a great wildcard for Fuerte and will help convince your opponents Fuerte can beat focuses with more than just his run throws.
I know this info is already in this forum, but it’s a good option that needs repeating!
There’s nothing like stopping a focus with a fs.rh.:lovin: Shit hurt’s and does ridiculous stun. I’ve seen a lot of players focus on wake up when they know there stun is high(after a RSF), this breaks there focus and adds 400 stun.
S. rh is actually a really useful midrange move. If someone jumps at you as you begin it, they will be unable to land their jump attack because of how you lie on the ground and you can often get a throw there. It is only -5 on block so it is fairly safe to do at the range you’ll be doing it. And obviously breaks focus attacks.
“Go fuck yourself. Not for beating me, that happens all the time, not for using El Fuertem he’s annoying, but so are a lot of character, but for using that semi infinite which you know is exploiting, in spirit if nothing else.”
on a serious note, el fuerte is already cosidered one of the weaker characters in the game (though still awesome and competitive), so I don’t understand people trying to take away his infinite combo from him and calling it cheap if used. Not only is it hard to do consistently, but with the damage scaling it doesn’t take away too much health, especially from high HP characters. I think its fair to have it in the game, it makes people think twice before underestimating Fuerte.
what happened to Kai? I missed most of the matches of evo due to my work and time difference. Is there any Fuerte in the Top 8 qualifiers to the finals?
Ill try and make that thread then by the coming weekend if possible, I think the paella is originally a Spanish rice dish if I am not mistaken, but there is a mexican version of it.
