El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

Great find! I just tried this and it works. The heavier the kick you use to do super, the farther it travels…so try it with rh. I think it’s a bit to risky too use super in this scenario because if you’re going really going for it, that super is coming out whether you’ve linked it or not. I would use that short into a forward or back run to restart the chaos. You could probably do a pattern loop of the sorts by repeating that:

Corner tortilla > short > backrun > toritilla > short > backrun , etc.

Going to test the pattern out and see what other characters we can do that too.

edit: hahaha I did the pattern twice… It’s funny. Imagine getting them twice with that in the corner… short > back running into a stop and having all the ultra bait in the world.

haha nice nice, you can do wicked mind games after the reset, good find

Can this only be done in the corner?

excellent find.im def. going to go test some things out right now

Good shit man, is the short hard to link afterall or is there plenty o time?

It’s very difficult… pretty sure it’s a 1 frame window.

Oh damn, that’s gonna need some practice.

El fuertes seventh taunt goes under hadoukens XD

I feel the same way.

Fuck, I lost about 15 ranked games in a row, but then I won about 4 and for some reason I felt good about that… LOL though, everyone saying Geif beasts all over Fuerte is 100% correct. I got soooo close to beating a Geif that I felt sick when that fuck SPD’d me for the win. I tried to test to see if a chest bomb would beat Geif’s running throw, but I never felt good about the timing… splash was working surprisingly well on a down Geif.

-I was OTG ultrad by a Dan last night (2p corner)… might be worth checking out, but again, it coulda been lag.

-Geif’s SPD grabs Fuerte’s f.MK (even when airbound). That surprised me, cause I’m pretty sure Fei’s overhead will hit.

Nice! How do you get the 7th taunt?

Awesome, I always liked how Dhalsim could do that shit.

Now I MUST get this taunt… damn hadouken spammers.

Also, if anybody wants to play against my El Fuerte, feel free to add my on xbox 360. I have only had one match against another El Fuerte and even I don’t know what the hell is going on.

Edit: I got the taunt and tried it out… it’s a slooow taunt to duck under fireballs.

Geif does not beast fuerte. If fuerte guesses right once at the start, or ever gets the lead, geif can NEVER catch fuerte.

Learn to run away.

keits is right
fuerte has advantage over gief

the problem i woudl say with elf playing run away is that he is mainly a grapple character and its hard for him to wake up imo. So if you get cornered yoru in a real bind. Most of his moves also send you at the opponent if yoru going to use running as your offense so eventually yoru just going to start being baited. Elf excels when you have the opponent on the ground and can mind game them with his hab dash moves. I would say to play elf effectively he needs to be a bit more offensive and then once you have some ex built you can play mroe defensive cause you can punish much better once you have a way to get past projectiles.

Ex Guacamole Slew (dp+k) can get your ass out of the corner. If it gets to that then your doing something wrong and your playing into your opponents game. If someone is getting jump happy then C.fp followed my the dash into whatever or ultra on jump ins put fear into someone. Ex back dash can me used to eat a few hits from someone jumping in and reverse the situation in your favor.

how do you get baited into pushing towards your opponent instead of away from them?

obviously fuerte works best doing his ground mix ups, but once you’re ahead enough on life lead, against characters like zangief, just stay the hell away from him. you dont have to keep hurting him, you’ll still win.

Anyone using Quesadilla Bombs to good use for opponents aggressively pursuing you?
I’ve just started doing this for opponents online who are aggressively trying to pressure me and so far the Quesadilla Bombs are working like a charm.

Let me know if this is not a really viable use of Quesadilla Bombs against over-aggro opponents.

problem is, you have to be psychic or on th other side of the screen while they fire a slow shot for it to work, it’s the later half of the taunt :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been doing the same thing. Whether or not it’s a ‘proper’ use of Quesadilla Bomb, it works very well if thrown in at the right time. Can be punished pretty bad if blocked, though.

Welp, finally started tooling around in console training mode, seeing if theres anything to figure out. I haven’t heard this mentioned yet but it explains a LOT.

Focus crumple followups scales as TWO (2) hits.* That’s exactly the reason I’ve found it hard to stun sometimes after a crumple, when thinking I should’ve already gotten it.

Side note, Stun point accumulation is NOT affected by Guts, only damage is scaled by guts. So that makes the math simple.

So basically seems like my RSF math was mostly correct. Here’s a repost :

(1)1000-200 = 800 (fierce (90), focus((60/100)(80/150)(140/200)))
(1000-90= 910)
(2)800-200 = 600 (910-0= 820)
(3)600-200(.8) = 440 (820-(90*.8)= 748)
(4)440-([(200(.7)])=300 (748-(90*.7)= 685)
(5)300-([(200(.6)])= 180 (685-(90*.6)= 631)
(6)180-([(200(.5)])= 80 (631-(90*.5)= 586
(7)80-([(200(.4)])= 0 (slide) (586-(150*.4)= 526)
**(8)#small–([(200(.3)](.95)]

  • On a character in Ryu’s stun class or under, 7 fierces will stun, or 6 run fierces and a slide.

Mind you, the focus attack scales you for 2 hits. Level 3 focus does damage equivalent to a s.FP so its sort of like you get 1 fierce punch for the price of two . It seems like a little change, but it basically makes it impossible to stun off the combo alone off a level 3 focus. Math goes something like :
total stun: stun next move takes
1000 (200) focus
800 (160) dai
640 (140)
500 (120)
380 (100)
280 (80)
200 (60)
140 (40) - Reset Tortilla will stun
100 (20) - Reset Tostada still spin
80
60

As you can see. Even 10 fierces and a slide wont stun after a focus crumple. :bluu:
The magic numbers are 6 and 7 fierces, at that point you can cancel run into the quickest reset possible.
At 5 or 6 fierces, you can slide and go for okizeme.
After a level 3 focus, just 2 fierces and a slide is 50% stun!

Bear in mind that even though the difference between a few chars is only a couple hundred points vitality points, as you can see just small changes to the numbers can have a huge impact. I urge to you check it out for yourself, and develop strategies against your problem chars.

Other notes:

For me, it seems much, much easier to RSF an opponent after a focus crumple.
This is probably by design, but it could just be my imagination. I’m working on a test for this so I can have some concrete info eventually, but it seems like that may just be a sacrifice you have to make for an easier punch loop.

I was wondering if they fixed the glitch where f+mk could be blocked standing while holding forward that gilley showed. They didnt. But what’s odd is that it doesn’t affect every character the same. I tested vs Guile and yes holding forward blocks that senton everytime, but if you have Ryu hold forward and walk at fuerte, the f+mk goes through him everytime.
Weird.

For some reason, this combo seems much harder vs crouching chars. I don’t have all the chars unlocked so I’m not gonna bother testing half the cast, but I tested quickly vs crouching Dic, Gief, Guile and Ryu.
Gief - Combo is almost no change from normal, but it feels harder to chain more than 4 fierces.
Bison - Combo feels much harder. I can’t get more than 3 fierces.
Guile - Combo seemingly must be performed faster. Since it must be performed faster, it seems impossible to get more than 2 fierces, and this is difficult.
Ryu - Combo feels impossible. I cannot get more than ONE fierce.

I posted before about the BS Ken stun reel animation, where for a minute I thought RSF wasn’t even possible on Ken standing because of the way he crouches down when getting hit (was wrong). It is possible, but it is noticeably harder than comboing from a focus crumple.
Ryu’s crouching hit animation is similar bs, for some reason he feels the need to really sell the hit or something? He reels backwards really far and almost falls to the ground, so my 2nd fierce whiffed every single time.

Similarly, I couldn’t link an s.jab after gordita sobat on crouching ryu, which is not very hard vs standing ryu.

*Counter hits do more damage. That’s probably why a focus is scaled as 2 hits, for the crumple it will most likely be a counter hit, so giving the focus an extra buff probably seemed like a bad idea. With that taken in mind, counter hit lvl2 focus does 188 stun. C.hit lvl1 does 125. Chit level 3 does 250. Im not gonna do that math though.
