El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

wow, didn’t know that. That sounds crazy!

I’ve found some things for myself that might be news to you guys.

  1. You’re given A LOT of time to execute specials/supers/ultras in this game. I discovered this while eating an apple and trying to do Fuerte’s ultra with one hand. It worked. I took it to training mode to experiment and found that you can hide a ton buffering in the run.

So an example would be…
Run> during run buffer SRK motion > drum jab followed by kick of your choice for a leg throw. The result is an instantaneous special move.

Likewise, you can use this to catch the people who jump away alot when they’re threatened with your run. Run as deep as you want, buffer the ultra motion, hit jab, followed by all kicks (remember that you have more time than you probably think to hit the kicks). I found it was much much easier to tag a guy on reaction with ultra this way. Characters like Viper and Rufus have the option of changing air trajectory & timing when jumping up or forward. So be wary of that.

I couldn’t get it to work with a backwards run > ultra. A slide keeps coming out. I tried holding down 3kicks before the run and negative edging but I can’t figure it out.

You can do super, leg throw going both directions, but ultra to my testing only works running forward… For now at least.

  1. For RSF, the initial loop sets the rhythm and your distancing for the rest of the loop. I’d focus on that. RSF will teach you ALOT about Fuerte.

Hey Shubacca, that’s great info. Especially about tagging people with the Ultra that way. I’ll try and practice that later. The only way I can even think of getting people with Elf’s Ultra is to time it when they jump in, if spacing is right.

and I can only get two fierces with RSF too. =\

I switched to El Fuerte for a few days with all intent to make him my main… but I was getting beat by all sorts of scrubs and felt like tossing my stick out of the window. Is there any real secret to this lovely character or do you really just have to work as hard as you think?

yes.

i had no idea you could even buffer motions. thanks for the info

knock down the scrub noobs then splash mountain those bitches they won’t know what to do.

is there certain chracters you having trouble with?

Well you do have to work for the win i but it also helps to be patient sometimes and timing really helps if you can predict a dragon you can time your habanero backdash to tortilla propeller and hit him right after his dragon. fireballs shouldnt do much to you since your can tostada press through em hell you can even get them with fajita buster as well. Plus his ultra is awesome you can get em when they jump in or jump back i love doing that!!

He has alot of mind games man so just be patient and get used to el fuerte soon youll be running chumps all over the place. I lost so many times in the beginning but now it aint as bad.

 Alright. Yeah, I pretty much have trouble with the entire cast save a couple. Guile’s flash kicks eat my runs alive (even though I eventually got used to baiting them), Sagat is a piece of shit, Ryu… etc etc. I want to play him, but I don’t like losing to 400 BP scrubs online. Suppose I’ll just have to fight through it.

I woudl say that the problem with el fuerte running away is that their are only so many ways even he can dodge projectiles. What are you going to do when a pressure shoto is coming after you and you try and run away? your either taking the projectile or your going to take a shoryuken(assuming that the player is good) and against a ryu taking a shoryuken is like almost game cause it combos into his ultra.

The base case scenario is not to run away but to use your dodges and runs as a way to bait punishment. Get a shoto into a pattern of waking up with shoryuken and then RSF loop him and thats aleast a quarter of his life. Plus you can then focus attack him right back into the loop like what is shown on the akuma vs elf fight and that should literally almost be a round win for you. If not yoru oppnent is left with just enough health to wear you can chip him to death plus at this point hes going to be on the offensive so just qcf+mk and grab him for the win.

If they are scrubs they will wake up shory or ultra. in the case of shory score a knockdown and f,f dash three times or f+mk while there still down then block and watch the magic. Up goes the uppercut and down comes ryu. Punish accordingly and as many times as it takes for them to learn not to wake up srk. If there is little lag you can safely close roundhouse dp+k them before they recover. Now what this leads to is wake up ultra. When you smell it and usually its right when they get it f,f dash in on their wake up and as soon as there close to standing qcb+p Fp. After that most scrubs will now accept the ride to splash mountain and get up without to much fuss. Rinse and repeat.

Does anyone have any explanation for THIS?

not sure seems like he was able to get the (:lk: xx super) after the tortilla propeller.

well hmm i think i might have to mess around with that to really see if that connects.

At work but told my friend to try it. He got the light to combo but says that the super is to far and the first hit whiffs. My guess is its the crappy 360 d pad working against him.

Looks like it has to be done in the corner. Must learn this AND the RSF now… so much work for my Fuerte…

Should probably check if it’s not character-dependant because it’s a lot like the Dudley-only OTGs in Third Strike.

vS blanka

don’t know if this was brought up yet, but vs blanka on his wake up if he tries to use his electric move, you can habanero dash backwards and use your FP throw, it lands on him cleanly every time so you can work your splash mix ups. bait him into using electric on getup and be rewarded with a FP grab. ( confirmed to work )

also, I don’t know if this one if confirmed, but it seems like c.FP beats shotos hurricane kicks cleanly, i also have been trying his guacamole leg throw on reaction, and it seems to also beat there hurricane kicks cleanly. it’s a little more risky, but both still need confirmed.

yeah crouching :hp: does wonders, didnt know about the grabs though thanx for looking out truehood.

actually one time a blanka did wake up electricity i tried my super and it didnt work :frowning:

ex guac beats pretty much everything almost, even ex shoryu’s, balrogs ex headbutt

tortilla propeller beating electricity has been mentioned a million times already

what are the properties of EX quesadilla bomb? does it pass through projectiles or has any sort of invulnerability frames?
