El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

For bison:

Meaty Slide
Overhead into tick grabs
If he techs the grabs, tortilla or splash.
make him lose charge on knockdown.
if hes just charging back turtling, just build meter.
never corner yourself.
if he is Focus happy, just ex run towards him and do stop ultra.
if he likes to hit you while you run, do run stop neutral jump.
hold random focus’s once in a while to show him he cant do random cr.rh or scissors from far range. also to bait ex psychos crushers
if your in the corner and hes doing scissor kick pressure, EX run through to RSF or stop ultra.
after like about 2 or 3 scissors kicks, you can do s.mp and buffer run, so you can splash or fajita.

So I took a peek at the bracket from Canada Cup. Look for Stevercakes possibly in the second round vs Daigo on stream. Chuck is in the bracket I am judging and baring a crazy performance on his part you wont be seeing him on stream because he’s far from any seeded players or celebrities. I might make it up on stream (and lose) against a crazy good Dhalsim named MAR from Vancouver, but that depends on how busy the lineup for stream is. Hope you all tune in.

dont say you cant make it. if you can do run stop mk over and over to dhalsim, he can never win if you get him in the corner.

j.rh beats sim’s j/mp clean.
just build meter. and hold down back, then make a good guess. guess at different times so you dont take alot of damage at once. get him used to seeing something from you, like wall jump fakes. then hit him with fajita or run slide max range.

never give up.

Guys, I’ve just got back. I just caught the end of teams and it sounds like they’re about to start singles. The schedule said singles was before teams. Have singles been on or not? I’m confused.

I finally figured it out. Here’s why Ultra 2’s start up was increased:

A reassurance to stupid people.

I left already, sorry. I didn’t get to play a single tourney match

Why not, man. What happened?

My dad had to work tomorrow. It was like 5 30 and brackets weren’t up and teams weren’t done so we left. Originally we planned to have me play my first match, 2nd then leave.

3 hour drive between edm and calg

I really can’t wait for this jab buff. Getting rushed down by my brother’s Ken sucks.

I must say though. Stand far mp is gooood. I was frequently slapping Ken out of his step kick with it.

Couldn’t you have gotten a bus down, man? Stayed the night? Was looking forward to seeing you on the stream.

Managed to catch Vanilla and Stevercakes, though, so that was cool.

chuck needs to grow a pair

<3

dudes, so i had an amazing rage quit at a local tournament this saturday

played against a Ken that was talking all kinds of trash before the tournament. i felt him out and beat him first match, then tried to RSF they entire second match because i didnt get any warmups before hand so he beat me. then, 3rd match he opened with a tatsu, i c.LP to reset him, charged FA, he LP.dp me, then i hit him with 5rsf>slide (7-hits), then i ran back for a far tostada to see what he’d do since i had the life lead. as i took to the air he said “i cant handle this” paused the game and walked off.

people said i had the most priceless confused face. either way, i was knocked out later by that vega that beat diago a round at SB5… fukken german luger

Has anyone seen the She-Hulk video. At first, I didn’t see it, but she is starting to remind me of Fuerte. I’ve seen one Youtube comment that said she seemed to be like Fuerte and R. Mika combined.

german luger is actually pretty good, I played him, he gave me a hard time.

Ok, Canada Cup thoughts.

Being on stream
First off, sorry for scrubbing it up lol. Definitely did not play to my full potential. Volunteering to help run the tournament and playing in it is hard to do for sure! Lesson learned. I did happen to make it on stream three times.
I was on first thing in the morning on saturday getting some practice matches against Jozhear (who I did decent against) and Ph1l who I beat pretty handily. Nothing crazy, but a few of you guys might have caught the matches if you tuned in early.

Next up I was on stream for the team tournament. I was on Team Kenny Rogers Roasters. You might remember us as the team that wore shirts with Kenny Rogers face on them? lol. Anyways, we played Team USA and got worked, as we expected. I was anchor and played Gootecks and lost. I still feel like a total knob about this fight because I had taken a lead, and I was totally believing my own hype and I started playing really sloppy and unsafe. In the end he beat me by walking backwards lol He and I agreed to run it back later.

Final time for me on stream was against the Rufus player Quangbot. I think lots of you guys caught that. Got loads of use out of tortilla in that one. I read a stream chat comment after saying someone was getting hungry with all the tortillas lol. I pretty much ran a train on the guy. I’m pretty happy I landed the overhead hit confirm to super, crowd liked that one. Finished it off with the Paper special, taunted and then splashed. I think I was the only person to taunt on stream lol.

I would have liked to have gone up more, and I did play some stream worthy matches, but my hands were full with judging and unless you were playing a celebrity, you most likely werent making it up.

I also got on commentary for a very brief period which I’m sure was awful. Talked about Avril Levine, hated on the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Dion Phaneuf, called out Justin Wong on his Bieber haircut and basically di not call matches worth shit ahaha.

Money Matches
Ok ok, I know I said I’d have stuff to upload on youtube, but my cameras memory card was fucking up big time so I couldnt actually get any recorded =/

Justin Wong - We played lots and I can say that he was definitely the scariest pro to play against as Fuerte. His reactions were so godlike that you cannot win by mixing him up. Took a bunch of rounds off him, but no matches. He also told me he thought that Fuerte is the best character in the game, which I thought was obvious bullshit so we played a mirror. We went back and forth as fuerte matches do, and I eventually lost a heartbreaker. We then went in to training mode and we competed to get the most reps of RSF, I won that. He also showed me a fuerte combo I had never seen before that he said he picked up in japan which I am going to be keeping to myself for a few months
Mike Ross - Had the most fun playing Mike. I played his honda and his Cody and I actually managed to take a match off each. Very proud of myself. Lots of the times we were talking back and forth and laughing over the match ‘Excellent Adventures’ style.
Gootecks - This one shouldnt really count as I only got the chance to play him again at the after party where both of us were wasted drunk. I honestly dont remember much of the fight besides doing better than I did on stream and taking some rounds. Ended up losing of course but Gootecks and I were drinking buddies the rest of the night and I beat him there.
Daigo - As expected, an amazingly technical player. Very quick to download all your tricks. He didnt have the amazing reactions like Justin, but his reads were incredible. One thing I did find odd is that he had a really tough time dealing with drop kick. He wanted to play footsies with me but didnt really catch on the its range for the entire time I played him. Anyways, I didnt take a single round off him but there were 3 or 4 that came down to whomever got the last hit won, so lots of close ones. Also only got perfected once, so I count that as a victory lol.
Air
Similar story as with Gootecks, I was tanked but I still played. Air is allergic to alcohol, and therefor played with a huge advantage in that he was sober. Got wrecked by him lol.
Mago
Didnt get a chance to test my fuerte against him, but I did MM him $20 in rock paper scissors. I won that. Cant beat a fuerte players mindgames!

General Stuff
-Placed in the top 32 out of 350 entrants. Very pleased with that. Also was the highest placing fuerte in the tournament.
-Chuck, was in the pool I was judging and didnt show up for a single match. Gave him lots of chances, but ended up having to DQ him. Sorry bro.
-My bro Jozhear and I both competed for the number of this random girl who came out to support the tournament. She wasnt playing, she didnt come with people playing, she just really liked Street Fighter. We both scored her number (I got it first) and it was a battle to see who she’d leave with to the afterparty. She ended up ditching and driving home over an hour and a half away. Fail. Jozhear and I both laughed about it over drinks.
-What did you guys think about a tournament that actually ended at a decent hour? We were all so happy we werent there until four in the morning.
-The after party was insane. Spent most of the night hanging out with Justin and Gootecks. I got both of them wasted, and we celebrated Justins birthday (today). We headed to Tim Hortons and treated them to food while they raved about how awesome it is here and how they cant wait to be back.
-The Socal guys agree, Tubby Dog bodies Pinks. If you are ever in Calgary you gotta try it.
-I kept feeding JSMaster drinks and the poor guy ended up totally hammered. He was puking in the street, and last I saw him, he was passed out by the Ms. Pacman cabinet. I’m sure pictures will emerge soon!
-Pros played some random select matches for drinks and Mago got loaded off 4 drinks. He’s a small dude, I guess it doesn’t take a lot. He passed out in the back seat of a car and we never heard from him again.
-Daigo has a mean appetite. Polished off a plain tubby dog in like a minute.
-Best part of the night for me though, was hanging out with Gootecks trying to get some ladies to party with. In the end nothing worked out and there was lots of yelling “HATERS GONNA HATE!” and doing the pose.

EDIT-Also had people asking me to sign their shirts like I was a pro or something! lol

Overall I had an awesome time. I hope next year is just as fun and we’ve convinced more guys to come out.

Sorry Adam I left during teams D: I was in the line for reg and I saw you on the big screen and went “WHO THE FUCK IS THAT?” lol

Btw do you know who I would’ve been playing?

Found this over in the changes thread:

I’m starting to wonder if we’re going to have to learn Fuerte all over again. Gouken got a lot of changes; Sakura got a lot of changes; this should be interesting.

Sooooo…does that mean that stopping SRK reversals with tortilla is a thing of the past?

It was very rare in Super so it probably doesn’t affect it too much or us in general. On the bright side, we can counter Honda’s headbutts with a well timed Taco Knee or Salsa Chop.

LOL that was probably me. I’m definitely gonna use her I hope she has mixups out of her run.
