Opposite for me. I’m keeping Fuerte as my main, but I’ve been messing around with Sakura and she’s really fun. Her changes in AE should make her a really solid secondary, possibly compensating for some bad matchups (but I’ll still learn all of them for both) Fuerte has.
Oh, and I made cameo on the latest Cross Counter episode. Gamerbee was looking for an opponent, but he skipped me because I had a yellow connection (implied at least).
Guys, don’t forget that the splash is a mix-up in itself. Although usually not recommended, splashing in front of a player, instead of cross-up against a player who’s experienced against Fuerte can actually prove to be pretty useful.
Just keep in mind that you will lose rounds/matches, but dont beat yourself up over it. Stay focused, and do your best. Dont let tourney pressure shake you.
Try to stay calm and try to keep yourself from moving too fast. If you notice yourself getting out of control or flustered then take some time in between matches to just keep yourself chill. The nerves will hit you, but how you recover and adapt will determine your overall performance.
Good luck to everyone at the Canada Cup, I’ll look for yall on the stream.
Breath and look forward.
when you get hit, just remember why you got hit and use it as a way to figure his playstyle and counter it.
most importantly, trust your training. everything you’ve done so far, it lead up to this moment, and it WILL work.
everything you do, in your head, has to work. no hesitation.
Never give up, anything is possible.
here are some quotes for you to get excited that I read before tourneys:
“The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.”
“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they?ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It?s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It?s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
“Passion is born when you catch a glimpse of your potential”
“Though the pain may come over you, never let it overcome you.”
“Hesitation enhances fear”
“I would rather make my name then inherit it”
imma PM you actually to help you prepare a little.
Just got myself above 7000BP in ranked. Played about five high BP Ken players in a row who all thought they could abuse the quick LP DP against me. I hate how people resort to tactics like that online, that’d never work offline. I’m used to it, though, so I’ve got the timing down to punish it.
So much mashing on XBL, though. I really have to slow my game down to counter it, and it’s annoying.
I got up to 15k on PSN months ago, then bought an Xbox because I required more competition and I swore I would never play ranked again. I am quite happy with my 0 PP/0 BP
sounds like a great idea for sure! we can all contribute .
Also! can some ppl add me on psn …i dont play any good fuertes and i want to go for top level play . online ranked of course isnt great for anyone. I main him to the fullest but i dont feel strong enough with him. i can RSF and all of that i just need to play skilled ppl that can also take time to help a fellow lucha get prepared for the ring lol i think we know each other best in a sense
For a while, I was around 4700-5100 BP, but I’m getting closer to six thousand. It’s really frustrating when a number of my losses is because my down-back input doesn’t come in on time.
Spacing is key with her because of her pokes. Stay just outside of her range and try to bait her into coming towards you. I recommend using run stop Guac when applicable. Her j.HK (both versions) can beat your Tostada so be careful and do it only when she can’t hit you with it.
Since she has an excellent back dash, she’s likely to use it so your best options are (in no particular order)
Late Slide
Safe Tortilla (be careful as misproper spacing can screw you)
j.HP or Taco Knee(j.MK) (note that the latter can’t combo into much of anything, but it hits at a lower angle and has decent priority)
Run back into air grab.
If you need to jump in, I recommend Taco Knee and Salsa Chop (j.MP), but I don’t recommend jumping in unless you have to and remember she can air grab you.
Be prepared for blockstrings and be especially prepared for her Hazan-Shu. Focus that as soon as you can see it coming out. I say this is a rather tough matchup when you fight a really good Chun-Li. Just be patient and bait, bait, bait.
Chuns love using ex-sbk on wake-up to get you off them. Always keep an eye on their meter. Run stop FA is a great mix-up on their wake-up if you anticipate it, and can lead into full RSF.
Be careful when Chun has super, since she can punish you hard.
Right now I’m sittin on about 6K on PSN. Once I get my TE back (the dual mod should be done in less than 2 weeks) I’m gonna start playin on Xbox finally.
I totally agree with FA baiting on EX SBK. Either run stop like you said, or just plain charge FA, backdash away from EX SBK, and charge the real FA.
As for Bison, not very in-depth, but meaty slides are great vs teleport-happy dictators. Your slide will go right through the teleport, but it’s usually a great set up to walk up grab or shower kick. A well-timed far RH will beat scissor kicks as well.
