the damage nerf is fair. startup nerf is retarded. ultra 1 is like 5 frames, and we can barely punish enough with that lol. people dont understand that characters like ryu can do a dp max range, and maximum punish is cr.mk. capcom needs to eat a fat dick man. imma still main fuerte though.
im actually content at first i was like " Really Capcom? " then i actually let it set in and with this we are just gonna have to mix more fajita up in there … its not like tortilla isnt safe its just punishable … also i think we all should go in training and work on negative edging run bc if we can stay mid screen and dont stop moving to appear more random were harder to react to lol … all we still need is a knock down! which isnt hard to do if we play well . thats when tortilla ( or anything for that matter ) is really effective anyhow… so brighten up ppl we put too much into the luchador to get bent outta shape now . U2 nerf was commin but is it that bad ? we dunno yet… Guac is more a nerf but we can us that excuse to stay in an punish jump aways … i honestly dont feel were in a horrible position . we just gotta keep whipping up new recipes! = ) we got the jab buffs now so we can poke bit more freely and maybe there will be more little good things we will notice later. gotta wait and see . he will always be my main . try to stay positive friends
Crouch, you can eat a knockdown if they react to it.
It also doesn’t go through fireballs. This pisses me off because it’s what I need against Guile because I can’t punish his SB with Tostada, he can block.
I’m so salty
Sometimes I burn meter to ex run on Guile to scare the shit out of him. Ex run through sonic boom lots of them jump back. Others fierce punch(free stop fierce xx run slide) others still flash kick (stop and block. Punish)
With no meter you can’t do that though. I played a solid Guile last night and I barely won. It was really hard to score a knockdown and he would do wakeup flash kicks which I could never bait, so he would get away. So much rage. But I guess so, it’s still one of my main tools that I used against him and it worked pretty well for the most part.
Here’s some hw: go through an entire fight never stopping. No matter what you do, always be moving, but make every move useful in some way. Vega players have to charge their moves, but they never stop. We got easy and faster execution motions for our moves, so use them more. A lot of Fuertes don’t make use of his speed. The point of using him is to make the opponent try to stop you. The only people who give Fuerte any trouble there is Bison, Cody, Ibuki, and Viper because they control both the air and the ground. Fuerte attacks at angles, something a lot of characters can’t stop.
Capcom probably just wants to make him more of an offensive high risk character, or tell us that Fuerte was made to be a rush down, zero defensive character. His speed is his trump card. I just think a lot of Fuerte players are * lazy*. Now don’t get me wrong, Fuerte has some bad flaws, but it seems like the best way to play him from my experience is to never have your fingers frozen unless you’re blocking. Fuerte is just as annoying as Dhalsim to play against, but to a lot of the community, Fuerte seems “worse” because he’s more of a run away rather than just zone/ run-away like Dhalsim. And the run-away attitude is one of the taboo actions of any fighting games.
In the end, you’re going to have to put even more energy into playing him, but at the same time, at least we can annoy players all around even more.
I’ve been thinking. Instead of reacting to a blanka jump in with run back tortilla or block or run back… Why not just run UNDER him. He jumps pretty damn high.
I noticed that alot of players like to jump when el fuerte runs. As I prefer to turtle they jump at me or neutral jump when I run forward.
Then I see one of brain vids. ClRH xx run under stop guac. What’s to stop us from replacing run back tortilla with run under guac? This may be a bit on the theory fighter side. But should be handy versus anyone with a high or floaty jump.
At the least we won’t back ourselves to a corner and reset positioning.
My fellow Elf players, I come to you with a question, so please forgive my ignorance If I misunderstood the context of the newer game changes.
They nerfed his tortilla directly, after indirectly nerfing it with more airborne frames on backdash for everyone…That is fine, I can swallow that down…but did they nerf his airgrab too?
Actually, I’d say they buffed it. From the looks of things, everyone will have midair frames as they leave their invincibility frames. This lets us jump over and air grab them.
I wonder what TKD thinks all about these changes?
After sleeping on it and giving some more though, aside from the BS change on Guac, I think we can handle things just with these changes alone. It’ll be tough, but we’ve always had uphill battles so we should be used to it. I still want to see what these nonparticular changes are. And to be honest, I think Capcom deliberately kept some changes out so we can find them.
i agree with that most def! i really dont wanna be lazy fuerte so ive been trying to apply moving alot and stay on offence and i have seem some improvements when i apply it in real matches. this i feel was always his game sorta even back in thoes sf4 days
@ Densuo
i feel its practical with the right set ups and we all have to experiment with it… i have pulled/set up a few run under throws and even set it to jump in training and tried it out and its cool … i remember when TKD did it on someone in the vanilla days .
Dash dancing with fuerte is fun. I trolled Clutch City 95, who’s apparently one of the best US Cammy players, doing that AND IN THE END I WON!
Munchi- yeah. I can’t help but laugh when I run under people. But really. There are some serious things to consider. Namely HITBOXES. This would eliminate guac trades. And might even allow Q-bomb a use to blast someone into the corner.
The U2 nerf is exactly why I’m using U1 when I pick him now.
TempLovesU
I used The Giga Buster exclusively because that was the ultra he had in Vanilla, and It was much more satisfying to land when the opponent knew the matchup…
Now I find that his U2 might give me the challenge I look for, given it is balanced properly…It was a great Ultra before, hopefully it is still playable.
Kuma, thanks for the feedback man. I lapsed completely, when I read those nerfs my mind went blank…I read “air grab” nerf…but didn’t read the word guacamole next to it…Now that I know they nerfed his Guac leg throw I am very saddened…
One more question for you guys, the invulnerable frames applied to tortilla propeller allow us to do cool things like punish unsafe jump-ins…but the safe tortilla has nothing to do with inv. frames, but rather it is based on punishing a move on startup right? Soooo…My question is…do we keep our safe tortilla? or is that out of the window?
Safe tortilla is not affected by those changes.
What I truely hope for in AE is to get back the range that the dropkick used to have in vanilla, I love this move and the nerf it got in Super has been the most bothering one for me personally.
Giga buster is a good ultra, but in certain matchups it is very limited (i.e. Rufus), thats when U2’s importance comes in. Damage nerf is very understandable since it is much easier to connect than giga buster, but the startup nerf seems questionable, since the point of this ultra is to be fast to punish stupid stuff. What I hope is that both ultras are balanced in a way to make both viable as options, too little information right now to judge if this is happening.
Rsf rsf rscrmk rscrmk rslp lp crmk xx super.
I can see it now…
I can only imagine the scaling.
I can only imagine the opponent’s irritance. People hate getting RSF’d and even then you can vary it. Best part being since crmk cancels to run you can get away Scott free.
Also. I just thought of this. Faster jab. DOESN’T THAT MEAN IT CAN NOW COMBO FROM GORDITA SOBAT RELIABLY INSTEAD OF ONCE IN A BLUE MOON??? WHICH MEANS WE NOW CAN ACTUALLY USE EVERYTHING IN THE RUN???
Once in a blue moon I can combo crlp after gordita. If this improved jab works with gordita we can get in on Guile easier. Ex run through sonic boom, gordita, jab, crmk
Gordita sobat will have a purpose. We can use it against turtles and get a block string with our faster jabs.
Fuck it. Fuerte’s not dead. He’s just coming back more annoying.
Of course this is just theory. But hey. I’m eating a quesadilla and that’s what went across my mind.
Faster jab should allow easier nickle and diming off shower kick and gordita sobat. This might even allow offense/pressure from a blocked and FADC’d q-bomb.
That’s three different ways to get in. All of them leading to pokes, pressure, tick throws, or time wasting. This jab buff has potential to be huge.
