El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

You can corpse hop with a guac after a knockdown. It’s dangerous if you do it too late though and it’s sort of obvious and easy to react to but still a corpse hop. I don’t use it too much.

I posted this in the shenanigans thread. Immediatley after a tortilla, shower kick mk guac. Lands you behind them, just enough time to meaty slide / run back insta-tortilla/picadillo.

I think I’ll try to organize them by different situations. Make their uses more obvious.

I did a little bit of testing on that j.MK again. Apparently, that move has to hit deep, like around the torso, of the opponent in order to go into RSF. Mind that I only did a quick test on Ryu.

Hey guys is there a delay when doing Tostada Press after Ex Run? When I’m in the corner I Ex Run and I press Medium Punch to Tostada Press… Nothing happens and I get grabbed. Go into training mode to test this out. To see if regular run into Tostada Press comes out then using EX Run. Also I wish Fajata Press had the same start up, hit-box, and invincibility as Tostada Press.

That’s because in the corner there’s a glitch where you can press any button when your turning around or something and nothing happens. It sucks.

Even if I do a straight EX Run from the corner I still notice a delay when activating Tostada Press. There’s about a quarter of second delay when doing EX Run into Tostada press and no delay when doing a regular run into Tostada Pres

The delay is likely since the game has to negate Fuerte’s super armor to transition into Tostada. Regardless, the Invinicibility frames of Tostada Press got you covered, otherwise a Three hit fireball from Akuma would land the third hit everytime.

hmm, looks like Capcom might be going all out with character rebalancing. Thoughts?

Always hated safe divekick characters, hopefully Yun won’t be too much of a problem.

A few buffs for Fuerte and he will be perfectly balanced. Giving tortilla & dropkick their vanilla properties back, and improving Qbomb startup time are the most important on my list. Maybe fajita getting a few damage or stun buffs and I’ll be the happiest man alive :smiley:

i never really got serious with fuerte in vanilla, can you explain to me what changed with his tortilla/dropkick?

Hitbox for both took a notable nerf. Tortilla used to grab a lot more with better hitbox and range, now it whiffs too much and is less reliable (though safe tortilla still applies the same way). Dropkick used to be safer since it hit twice a lot more often (and the second overhead hit had more range). Tortilla also took a minor damage nerf (from 150 to 132 I think). Those nerfs were completely unnecessary IMO.

The Tortilla got nerfed in two ways: The damage was reduced from 150 to 132, and its hitbox was modified to where it’s difficult to catch reversal DPs (I’ve caught Cammy’s and I swear I got Shoto ones) and Blanka’s thunder. I’m okay with it not getting Blanka’s thunder as Blanka Ball is easier to punish based off of the current changes at the loc test. The drop kick, or s.HK, got its hitbox reduced on the second hit. I can’t recall ever being successful with stopping a focus with it.

Aside from those two, I’d like to see the QBomb’s startup improved, but that’s been said enough. I don’t know if this asking for a whole lot, but it’d be nice if cr.HK was safe on block (it’s -1 as it is).

-1 on block is pretty fricken safe man. Not many moves actually come out in one frame to punish you and I hope your not crHK some one like zangief with ultra or something

On the home page they said El Fuerte’s Ultra 2 got nerfed.

As long as we can still kara cancel into it, I can live with that change. Otherwise…

I just don’t understand the thought process of nerfing the damage of a character known to have overall low damage output as a weakness. But we will wait and see, who knows maybe there is something good in store. Too much speculation at this point, things will be clearer as we get closer to December.

If they nerf him more in the final version, I’m done! Done, I tell you! Also, please allow for EX Run to have immediate start up on Wake-Up, I hate getting hit before it gets yellow.
