El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

just run stop corpse hop, its better. Also you cant corpse hop over blanka.

Did they change it to where you can do it over Rufus now?

You can after a slide. Definitely can’t after a tortilla but you can do a fwd dash and tortilla to the other side before he recovers (works on everyone I’m pretty sure) which is just as useful to kill back charge.

blankas are easy to cross up…you should inplement that into your wake up game…watch out if he has ultra or mashes electricy

Speaking of Blanka is there anyway to stop Ultra II once it is initiated? Lit Ball is nice enough to be snuffed by EX-Guac, but I’ve yet still not been able to find a way to stuff Ultra II or at the very least avoid that massive chip damage.

Possibly qbomb?

I haven’t tried it…

EDIT: Okay, I tried it. Qbomb fails hard, since it’s start up is so poor. Don’t know why I thought that would work.

Seems the best thing to do is lk guac over first shock wave (or neutral jump if you don’t want to be fancy), then tortilla Blanka before second wave if you’re in mid-range. If you’re long range, jump forward over the first wave, then tortilla him before the second. Splash and Fajita don’t work, since splash is beaten by the electric, and Fajita isn’t invincible on the way up. Tortilla only.

These two methods beat it clean every time without taking damage. Pretty simple.

I tried some other stuff too, for fun:

lk guac on first wave, then picadillo jump into wall splash/wall fajita/wall jump normal over second wave. Unfortunately, you trade with every attack. Wall jump air grab doesn’t work either. :frowning:

Obviously you can just Ultra him if you’re in range, too.

To beat Blanka U2 run back picadillo jump off the wall and use j.fierce.

Every time I tried it, it traded.

Phrygian I owe you an apology. I was trying to walk forward then Ultra 1 block BBs. Third attempt buffering during block I got it to land. Thank you. Now all I need is to get a Blanka to randomly BB me(never happens anymore).

On ways around Blanka’s U2. This happened once online I don’t know if it will work everytime but I Quac’d over the first wave landed on the other side of him then Quac’d back over again avoiding the second wave then taunted. I forget which versions I used though.

Hmmm…j.fierce might have beat the anti-air version of the ultra. I really don’t remember. Dx

That’s from the Blanka character forum.

Just jumping works, play with the timing.

you guys check this out?

Hey guys I won my match and now I wait two more days to see who I face next.

Ah, don’t worry about it, man. Just glad to be helping out.

I think that might work if you wall hop just as the first shockwave is coming out, and you hit him with the j.fp just before he pounds the floor for the second. It definitely doesn’t work for the second shockwave, though.

I’ve found that the second shockwave lasts far too long to just be jumped over. Unless the amount of time the second shockwave lasts is attributable to how full the revenge meter is, then I’m not sure how you managed to jump over both. Jumping over the first, then jumping back and wall hopping the second didn’t even work for me, I still landed on the electricity…

Something I’ll have to check out.

Good job, man.

I’ve been practicing crouching medium kick loop for months and while the rhythm is easy my biggest problem is getting the crouching part with the joystick. I always mess up after 2 hits and I never feel like its consistent enough for in game playing because of that.

Any one have any tips on how to practice getting the crouching part of the loop down easier ?

I don’t think 3 is needed imo. But if you want to go for three, try 2 and then for the third try to just stop. After you have that done, try to run stop but end up crouching. Follow that up with another cr. mk.

After 2 hits I usually just overhead and tick throw or cr. lk cr. lk cr. mk tostada or something.

Sorry Phrygian, you are right. It happened to me in a match and I got hit after my second jump, but I thought I just mistimed it at the time, so I assumed it worked.

I’m really starting to second guess my decision to work with Fuerte. I’ve been playing so godawfully poor lately. Of course, it doesn’t get too much better when I switch to other characters, but at least I’m not getting perfected 25% of the time with them. If someone has a shoryuken, I seem to eat it almost every time I try to get close, though I thought I was starting to get baiting down a fairly well. I get focus attacked after virtually everything I do (even times where it just outright shocks me). And the rare time i seem to actually score a knockdown, my attempt at hitting them on their wakeup always seems to backfire. I thought I was starting to show some improvement, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

What in the hell does a Fuerte player do in this case? Its at the point where the game hasn’t even been fun lately (and its not the losses…if losses turned me off, I’d have quit ages ago).

I can’t even blame this on lag…that doesn’t seem to be happening lately. :frowning:

if you KNOW they are dp happy. then you have many options to beat/bait it.

examples:

  1. run stop > focus > crumple > rsf
  2. ex guac
  3. run > forward tostada x(how ever many times they try to wake up with dp)
  4. run stop ultra2

there are countless other ways… there are just a few of my favorite punishes

and i’m pretty sure every fuerte has been through what youre going through right now. you just have to stick to it, but once you get that spark (no pun) then you’ll be seeing youself winning much more.

no fuerte got good without getting their ass handed to them plenty of times. i know it happened to me. and it still does, because we’re all learning new things every game

Turns out that you can stuff Blanka’s U2 if you’re close range (one character space away) by using shower kick or dropkick. Since both these moves attack off the ground, you dodge the electric and hit Blanka out of the attack. You have to do it as soon as his ultra animation is finished, though. If you’re late, you’ll get hit.

Every knockdown tells a story with a player, as well as their play style throughout the match. If they’re the type of player who’s reckless, mashes out of block strings and jumps a lot, chances are they’re going to DP on wake-up.

Generally, unless I know better, my first wake-up attack is usually a back-runxxcross-up splash. Most players aren’t ready to block cross-up on their first wake-up, plus it beats out a jump and, if timed right, a back-dash. It’ll also stuff uppercuts and crouch block. From this one attack, you can see how they like to block or attack on wake-up, whilst still getting a knockdown.

If they’re DP happy, run back, stop, focus attack (don’t charge level 3, just hit them for level 2 crumple). If you get the crumple (which you should) then go into RSF. If you can’t RSF, use HPxxSlide or cl.HKxxGuac. You could also just punish without FA, but FA gives more damage and guaranteed punish once you crumple

If you find they’re focus attacking your run attempts, then use fajita buster. Or use runxxstopxxdropkick (far HK) or runxxstopxxqbomb since they breaks focus.

In the end, if you’re not having fun, then maybe you shouldn’t be using Fuerte. But I’m pretty sure we’ve all been where you are. It just takes practice and match-up knowledge. We’re all still learning. (Pretty much what Bob said)
