If you want to do a forward dash, it’s QCF+LP+MP+LK or QCB for a back dash. What will happen is that if they try to grab you, you’ll get a tech grab. If they try to hit you, you get to run away.
Does anyone know if this works, perhaps a triple OS…qcb, qcb+lp+mp+lk > KKK?
-they throw, you tech
-they hit you, they get ultra sparked
-they do nothing, you run xx jump away
Should work I guess.
I thought about this the other day actually. The execution for that might be pretty crazy, but who knows. But, mexiwont, doing it right causes you to NOT jump away. Getting the jump means your timing’s off.
After my Balrog loss the other day, I can’t seem to win any matches I’ve had online. I feel like I can’t get in as it seems he’s got an answer to everything.
Are you sure about that? I’ve been doing it the same way since I found out about it, hitting the U2 about 75% of the time when I get hit and getting the run xx jump 100% of the time when I don’t get hit (or thrown). I thought that was the purpose of that option select…armor cancel ultra when hit, EX run xx jump away when not.
You would be getting it 100% if you did it right.
It’s happened to me a few times where the jump doesn’t come up, but this may have been because the input might’ve been dropped. Anyway though, when you’re hit, you’re kara-canceling into the Ultra.
I don’t think you’re following me here Kuma. I understand exactly how it works , what I’m saying is that I’ve ALWAYS gotten the EX run xx jump when I don’t get it hit. I’m not denying that I don’t get it right 100% of the time (I’m sure everyone drops it here and there), in fact I’m saying 75% of the time because I don’t execute right or because the attack isn’t meaty enough or whatever else.
Let me break this down a little bit. Let’s assume that I’m doing it “right” even as low as 20% of the time, that means that 20% of the time that I’ve done it and NOT been hit I should’ve just kept on running and not jumped (by what you’re saying is “the right way”). Well, I’m saying that EVERY time that I’ve done it and NOT been hit, I’ve done EX run xx jump away. I’m also saying that I hit the armor cancel U2 a pretty good percentage of the time, which obviously means I’m doing it right at least that percentage of the time.
Now back to another part of that last post, wasn’t that the original purpose of that option select?
I might be wrong on that part of the option select. I was under the impression that its original purpose was to be Run or Ultra 2 and nothing else.
I think I might do a recording of the option select later. This way, we have a control group to see which of us is right.
shakes head
Kuma, I’m not claiming to be right or telling you that you’re wrong, I’m presenting all of this because you’re telling me I’m doing it wrong and I’m asking you to explain why these things happen if the way I’m doing it is wrong. You’re not really giving me any reasons to defend your assumption, in fact your admission that it’s only happened a few times and “the input might’ve been dropped” should be reason enough for you to back track on that. Either way, I’m more asking for an explanation than trying to argue a point, which really doesn’t matter who’s right or wrong as it doesn’t affect what the game WILL do.
…on that note, I’m going to try that triple OS I proposed, I’ll post updates.
I’ve admitted twice that I may be wrong on the option select.
I’m going to test the OS to get a confirmation and lay this argument to rest.
That’s some crazy ass OS there - let us know if it works in your tests.
Good news and bad news…
Good news is that it works on wake-up (and I would assume reversal situations) but now that I remember something about the game I’m trying to find a way to explain why/how it works.
Bad news is that it doesn’t work if you’re doing it randomly or in a non-reversal situation, and I think I can explain this…
The OS EX run/throw (qcf/qcb + lp+mp+lk) won’t work in neutral situations because the game’s input priority is that two button moves (throw, taunt, FA) have the highest priority in the game, therefore if you were to do an ultra and a taunt at the same time the taunt would come out. I’m not sure what is after that as far as priority goes, but I would assume it goes ultra > EX moves > special moves > normals. HOWEVER, in a reversal situation (on wake-up, 1st frame after block/hit stun) the input priorities seem to go out the window, as well as all logic surrounding it. I’m still struggling to understand how, but the game will detect a throw and you will either tech (if the throw is done to hit you on the reversal frame) or any ultra, special or EX move will come out. If the throw is done slightly later than reversal then EX run comes out and as long as you’re doing the inputs right you should be able to EX run xx jump out of there but you might actually get thrown anyway. This is so weird to me but it works.
So, just to recap…
OS tech/EX run xx jump/armor cancel ultra
QCB, QCB + lp+lk+mp > KKK
-on meaty hit, armor cancel ultra
-opponent throws (hitting on reversal frame), throw tech
-opponent does nothing, EX run xx jump out
-works on wake-up (and probably in all reversal situations)
I’m not sure about performance against armor breakers, I’ll post that up some other time, but this is an awesome addition to the already awesome OS.
All right, I just did a quick test by going into training mode. It took me a few tries, but I finally got a few instances of where the jump doesn’t come out. And yes, I have the inputs on (never go into training mode without it and the damage display).
Thanks to you, I now know for sure.
God, I hope I don’t sound like a prick.
I’ve gotten so good at run stops lately, but my overall match performance has gone down the toilet. I can’t get out of the habit of constantly trying for the big combo setups instead of playing smart. Gone from 3000pp to 1600pp in the past days, it’s sad.
damn!! i hate losing pp, whenever i lose more then 200 pp in 1 session i just stop for the night
my stick broke, meaning no practice for me anytime soon =( but imma still play in tourneys because my mindgames are back. so hopefully that counts for something =)
Same. I just step away from the game for a bit and come back some time later or the next day.
Sorry about to hear about your stick, sPaB, but you should be able to borrow an arcade stick.
I’m going to try something a little different later today: I’m not going to use any dash attacks except for stop and step back. I really need to not rely on dash attacks and appreciate my pokes better.
hey this is something i should try too, i know i rely way to much on my specials for damage, other then rsf that is
if someone is focusing alot and you dont wanna fajita buster, you can run up to them and stop cr.mk > splash. you wont get hit by them =)
I went one match against a Ken player and realized it was a mistake. The dash attacks are a little too important, IMO, to not use. I think I’m better off doing something like no wall jumps or no Guacs.
sPaB, can’t they still hit with a Focus attack or back dash out of it?
I’ve hit a brick wall and I haven’t the foggiest how to get over it. I’m far from great at this game to begin with, but i can’t even seem to beat the jumping, sweeping, shoryuken-spamming scrubs, even when I’m really trying to. I think a lot of my issue comes from lag screwing up my momentum, but even then, I can’t seem to do anything right and its pissing me off. At times like this, I wish there was even a small scene around where I live, but that’s not an option, so playing online is my best bet and its really getting on my nerves lately. There must be something I’m just not getting, since I don’t even lose this much when I’m choosing random characters.
