El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

@Kuma: Placing 16 out of 100 is fantastic man, keep it up  Rufus is known to be a tough matchup for Fuerte, but its definitely managable, try and check some TKD videos from vanilla SF4 they should help a lot (try to focus on doing more slides and j.HP crossups to pressure him, and avoid being placed in corner and work on you block discipline to help in improving your defensive game against him). The amount of cheering you get when you win a close match with Fuerte is second to none  thats one reason I always stick with him, the feeling of satisfaction and reward is immense.

I agree with akashwan, Rufus is a hard match up for lot of characters with a bad reveral so not only affects Fuerte, but I think that Rufus is not as bad if you known how to fight against him and calm down in the corner. Is very good to improve your Fuerte againts bad matchups.

Good Job Kuma!

Tkd vs Kindevu to get some smiles

I thought about learning someone else for bad matchups, but it just wasn’t nearly as fun. The match-up is doable (though… Akuma seems impossible) and I love watching your fuerte so you best not switch.

Kuma if you switch ill disown you D:<.
@Grandpa: i dont think the match up is that bad, we have an OS if he teleports, and it only takes about one rsf to take him to 75% probably more, just gotta be careful and punish those air fireballs with a well placed slide

Good shit, Kuma.

I will never switch, that’s a promise. I don’t need reminders why I shouldn’t switch. Live by the mask, die by the mask.

Any character I will ever pick up will become my secondary, hence Ibuki’s spot.

EDIT:
My match should be on this stream archive, but I can’t get it to load. Based on the title, you might want to check at about 60 minutes in for my match.

For some reason, I couldn’t EX dash sometimes when I wanted to.

EDIT: I just checked the results thread. Turns out there were 80 people. Can’t complain still.

Yesss go TKD

Go TKD! the token Fuerte.

Looking forward to seeing him land ultras all day

I was thinking about this earlier today and decided to test it:

I wondered if you can do j.mk into RSF, and if so, can you do a crossup into RSF with it?

I practiced it on a random Viper dummy and I can say It Depends and Not Sure.

The placing for the j.MK is the tough part if you’re jumping in as you gotta hit deep. On the other hand, this can cross up (If I positioned it right). I don’t think this will mean much as j.HP is much more reliable, but you never know.

lol so in the end inconclusive, but still i had no idea j.mk crossed up nice find

Maybe I can do further testings later. Does anyone have a recommended setup for practicing crossups so I can get consistent results?

I can see how this crossup can be useful as we now have another trick up jour sleeve, but it’s more psychological than physical. This is useful since the j.HP crossup isn’t like, say, Ibuki’s j.LK-jf.MK crossup combo (maybe). Why would we use this over Tostada? If the opponent is quick enough, he/she will block the crossup Tostada and we leave ourselves open. j.HP is a godsend for when the opponent back dashes as we can go straight into RSF. j.MK could be for when they expect j.HP and don’t move. If the hitstun is high enough, we could have a run stop pressure setup on our hands.

I feel like a scientist spouting out all of this theorycraft.

throw, then walk forward a little and jump forward with fierce, and most of the time you’ll hit them as long as they dont move up enough or dash.

Just watched TKD’s Fuerte game in today’s godsgarden - guy’s definitely rusty and behind on knowledge compared to prominent Fuertes here.

Looks like the lack of SSF4 in arcade really hurt his game.

Oh no thats not good :frowning: I really hope he gets to catch up soon when SSF4 arcade is released.

Are there any notable Japanese Fuerte players who play SSF4 currently that you know of?

try crossing up with j.mk after airthrowing your opponent. perfect position imo. but its very ambiguous :stuck_out_tongue:

I was basing it on this recorded Godsgarden stream of Mago/Nemo/TKD playing online: ?TV?0810???TV??, ?TV?0810???TV?? godsgarden on USTREAM. Video Game Marathon

His Fuerte def didn’t look the part of maestro Fuerte he had in vanilla days.
I think he just needs to get some fight experience again to get back to his old maestro self.

In terms of JP El Fuerte players I like right now, I’d say this guy is pretty entertaining to watch:
w51sdayo
His reaction’s not as good as TKD (it’s pretty hard to beat TKD’s awesome reaction), but he knows a lot of match-ups pretty well and his strategy is sound.

ugh, i just realized that i have a terrible habit of trying to grab after everything like when i’m getting hit by a blockstring or on wake up. what’s an alternative so i dont do this stupid habit anymore

If you have EX to spare, do a EX Dash-Grab option select.

what exactly are the inputs for that?
