El Fuerte General Discussion Thread

can you RSF?

Working on it, sometimes manage 2 or 3 reps, but often mess it up in actual matches. Dat pressure.

So only a meaty EX qbomb will work how lame. Sense EX qbomb takes forever to charge.

I was fighting my friend’s Balrog and my C. MK kept beating his turn around punch straight version. Has any one else noticed this before? Kind of like how Ryu can stop Balrog with C. LK or C.MK. I don’t know which kick works for Ryu though. Also I wish Qbomb had 10 levels of damage like Balrog’s turn around punch.

TAP is vulnerable low, so any low hit will snuff it if rog has distanced it badly.

three levels is fine. Anything else for Fuerte would be detrimental. The only time anyone here (except maybe me) stores qbomb is after scoring tortilla, ultra, super, or in cases of extreme turtling. With larger charge levels some may be inclined to keep a charge and take needless damage. Something Fuerte can not afford.

Instead of that just give me invincibility frames like turn punch, or more stun. Ahhhhh the abuse.

Does anyone want to help with that rubric I proposed earlier? Here are the questions from earlier with the new ones in bold.
[]How can this character escape okizeme?
[
]What is safe to use against this character during okizeme?
[]What is not safe to use?
[
]What situations are best for RSF?
[]Which part of the stage is this character best at?
[
]Where is this character worst at?
[]Which specials can you counter with Ultra Spark with (including which versions don’t)? We have some of this compiled.
[
]What are this character’s best pokes?
[]Should I turtle if I get the life lead? **
[
]What anti-airs does this character have?
[]What aerial attacks will stop me?
[
]Does this character have an air-grab?

What moves can this character use to counter Focus Attacks?**
Any other additional ones would be great.

things like that are odd to fill out, i feel like other characters are gonna read this and evolve lol

I think it helps, but thats just matchup knowledge, everyone has different tendencies

I know. The rubric is designed only for general information. It’s supposed to be an outline of what this character has and what you have to do as a result. Setting it up to include different tendencies would just be frustrating.

Oh, and sPaB, thanks for the matches earlier today. I was glad to hear that I’m not bad, I just have patterns. Thanks for also showing me that neat crossup technique. I need to practice the spacing, but it looks like both a fun reset and a nice RSF setup.

So I guess mixups, moderate my walljumps, and stop being so scared of DPs are at the top of my list. One last thing though, does anyone have major difficulty with air grabbing back dashes?

Well, posting here isn’t going to accomplish much. It’s back to the training room for me in about half an hour.

@KumaOso

np, you’ll be fine once you take away your patterns.

and never be scared of DP’s, if they wake up DP, challenge them and go for something riskier, like cr.rh. Once you show that your not scared, they’re forced to play the way you are. Basically I’m saying is that, if someone wake up DP’s you won’t know enough information about them that’ll make them do reversal DP. so you gotta ask questions through putting pressure and putting yourself in a risky situation. At the end of the day, you’re gonna be able to control whether they dp or not.

also try counting how many times you have to mix them up before they dp. for most players, reversal will be there last resort or it will become there first instinct.

You got any advice on taking away these patterns, aside from cutting down on wall jumps? As for the DPs, I’m not quite getting what you’re saying. Can you give me some examples?

everything you do, make pretend they know.

I see. I’ve been doing things under the impression that I felt that they were going to do something and I’d do the counter.

EDIT: Okay, I think I just confused myself. Sorry, I tend to be over-analytical.

Lol its ok, yo my matches are up from yesterdays tourney, I played pretty sloppy because of the nerves, but I won in the end. thankfully lol

I’m so jealous that some of you guys live in places like Cali and NY where you have a large scene.

lol dont worry just try to be the best out there in your scene, then maybe you can influence it yourself.

I’ll have to get over my shyness then. Speaking of which, I’ve been feeling that playing Fuerte, oddly enough, has helped with my personal growth. I’m always such a worrywart, but I can’t be such when I’m playing him. If I’m lucky, this’ll help me improve my driving.

lol dont worry, look I see it like this.

Fuertes pressure and run is like asking girls questions. The more questions you ask, the more answers your get, which can branch out to another question.
So like if you do risky shit, you get to see them under different types of situations. it makes them second guess themselves, if they get hit by something they can usually get punished by. in their mind they probably regret not doing it. so now your in control.

Question everything they do. use everything against them. if you get hit by a gimmick, then dont be scared of getting hit by it again.
When You get hit by a gimmick, tell yourself they wont do that again, because once you start worrying about it. the opponent has space to move freely. baiting works when the momentum shifts and the situation is back on your side.

challenge their reversals then u can be in control of what they do next. if you do cr.rh on wake up and you get dp’d. do it again, that shows that your a risk taker, and dont scare too easily. mental toughness takes risks. you dont lose what you put in the middle.

I kinda wonder if I’m doing it wrong.

Who here turtles. And by turtles I mean you put Balrig and guile players to Shame. I think it’s helped me on my block discipline over time. I just gotta stop with the downback and mash tech.

Also. Is there any normal we can use to poke out when you fight someone you feel is droppin combos?

Also also. I agree about challenging the opponent. If you give way and start second guessing yourself you just made it harder to figure out the opponent. Knowing what a character can do is one thing and generally common knowledge. Then comes player gimmicks and tendancies.

Prolly why my shoto game is so garbage. I’m by-the-book predictable with them.
