The only thing similar about fuertes is if they can rsf or not. It doesn’t matter if fuerte gets first in evo next year. We’ll get a bunch of bandwaggon fuertes that will hang up the mask within moments.
I think more Fuertes would be more fun. I would love to see an original character, with really fun gameplay and design, be championed rather than the top tier and shotos. shrug Just like I love Hakan, Ima be playing Fuerte no matter what
I think you’re giving the bandwagoners too much credits.
Tomorrow, I have my second tournament, and it’s at Mechacon. I don’t think I’ll get very far, but I hope to get some more matchup experience and tips (yeah right).
Eh dont be so hard on yourself, you gotta believe
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll do my best, but I’m not willing to give my hopes up.
Why are you telling people to stop playing offline??? Not everyone in this forum lives in cali where they have the best scenes and arcades, the only reason I am at the skill I’m at today is because I play online so much. In fact I think playing online is the perfect practice for evo. Playing online teaches you every single trick every character has as well as how random players play, which during the first day at evo are 85 % of the people there. Of course you should play offline if you have the chance, but online is the only thing people have 90 % of the time.
Thats true, but i think whats hes trying to say is to avoid random scrubs online, try asking people around SRK, people who actually care and wont just mash shoryu.
holy. I end up doing the super when trying to mash his guac. so annoying. Must be more annoying if you use U1, cause they all use a similar input.
dont mash problem solved
Agreed with above, but if you do mash Guac then go:
DF, D, DB, D, DF+K
eh I think regardless of if they care and put time into their character or not fighting them can still help.
It can help you download what your opponent is doing and you should be able to learn and adapt accordingly
I believe after the first round you should have tested and checked your opponent enough to understand what his gameplan is.
Well, I’m back from Mechacon and the tournament as well. I didn’t make it out of my pool because I was acting very apprehensive against a Rufus and a Honda. I might have won a match from each of these if it weren’t for one screw up each. Rufus was doing Ultra 2 and I had intended to do Ultra 1 on reversal to counter it, but EX Guac came out instead. The Honda hit me with a torpedo and I thought I had pressed MP in time to stop him, but alas, BAKANA! Regardless, the people who watched me play said I was great and really enjoyed watching my matches.
On another note, I timed out said Honda and did taunt 3, but that one was a draw.
i do not completely agree, just as Peru.
in fact, i have no problems whatsoever with RSF or the shower-kick mixup on- or offline.
i just takes a couple of casual matches to get right into it again.
its YOUR opinion if you dont like playing online but most of us here and around the world have no other choice.
i cant learn any matchups when i dedicate myself into the trainingroom.
in my opinion, you learn a lot more about your character if you just play much.
online or offline, just play.
Gotta agree. Nothing beats offline play, but online play is better than nothing, especially if you live in an area that is lacking in players or if you have to drive to meet other players, such as myself.
Besides, I love it when I’m online and make some accidental discovery that either benefits me or, in retrospect, hinders me but I learn from it. Just the other day, I did Ibuki’s Neckbreaker on reaction when I shouldn’t on Seth’s Sonic Boom only to find out, after further testing, that it goes under all versions of that attack.
I went to a small tourney today and it was single elimination. i got bodied so hard by a viper
shit sucked couldn’t start a mix up game on her she kept blocked/teching my stuff ><
One of my main weaknesses is blocking and I have improved it much BUt I now find myself blocking too much because I just don’t know what to do from a block so I am asking to see what are experiences of others. I will give two scenarios that specifically pissed me off cause I just did not have a clue or just couldn’t react to it for some reason.
Adon does a jaguar kick over and over again and i don’t know how to counter this. Then proceeds with combos and i get raped. maaan adon hits hard fuck.
An Akuma would jump in on my wakeup and commence a combo such as jp. hk cr. lk cr. lk s. lp s.lp jump over and cross with jp. hk. What can I do in this situation?
I also find if i get pushed in the corner i get analed, what are some options you guys have used to get out of this very bad situation?
Its important to know the type of attacks your opponent likes to use on your wakeup. While blocking and being patient is recommended in general, sometimes a simple ex guac will get you out safely (just dont be predictable with it). ex run is a good option to escape/counter if you know your opponent is less likely to throw you on wakeup or does armor breaking special.
In the corner, a simple slide can get you out if opponent thinks you will attempt wall jump and jumps to punish you. corner is always a difficult situation to be in, especially against offensive characters like Rufus, so being patient and waiting for a chance to escape is your best bet, your choice of escape should be based on your understanding of your opponents patterns. backdashing is another useful (and underused) tactic to get out of sticky situations, it gets you out of throws safely and also avoids certain attacks. Lets not forget about armor cancel ultra, which is a heavy punish to scare your opponent from blindly rushing you down if you know how to do it (refer to dawgtanian discoveries thread for more details on this). Part of your tactics as a Fuerte player is to try and avoid being in corner at all costs because getting out of good pressure is not easy at all.
@El Taco: I dont have much experience against Adon yet, but I think ex guac should catch jaguar kicks. Try and record in training mode and see if there is a normal you can use to counter it more effectively. As for Akuma, if you know he likes to always start with a normal hit on your wakeup then ex run should help, just remember you can be thrown out of it so dont overuse it.
Good to know some of you are going to tourneys, keep it up guys, this is going to help a lot in getting more accustomed to handling high pressure situations, which should help your game significantly in the long run. keep your spirits up amigos
I finally did it! I practiced Fuerte’s EX Back Run Cancel Ultra 2 in training mode for a little bit and managed to perform it in an actual match. It even surprised me when it came out. And I did it in a slightly laggy match no less.
If someone is jumping in on you while you’re knocked down, this is the PERFECT way to do a wake-up Ultra.
I uploaded it.

interesting glitch, that seems extremely situational though haha. He couldve gotten a lot more damage. But i guess it’s just for style points.
