Edmonton Thread - 2012

and then i pick chun-li. I gave that same adivice in the calgary thread

Where can I find some gameplay info on the persona fighting game?
I will try it out in two weeks.

I know this is really last minute. But is anyone near whyte ave going to the tournament tonight? I’ll pay for gas if i can catch a ride with you, my ride just bailed.

ive said it b4 and ill say it again edmonton has no competitive drive its like nobody cares when they lose to any1… honestly find sum1 betr then you and do everything in your power to be definitively betr then that person then move on to the next one… once u realize that rivalries do nothing but make you a better player thats when you,ll finally see yourself improve as a player

just like u did in sf4?

According to everyone else I did. lol

I’m having really strange audio problems when I play online (SFXT) anyone else having problems?

Maybe they’re bored with playing weaker players?

Well damn, new players want shit to be served to them on a silver platter. You don’t realize just how lucky you are, having the ability to find countless match videos within seconds, having the ability see top level streams every week, having access to new info faster than ever before, being able to play online at home, etc. None of this stuff was around 10 years ago.

See, here you are relying on other people to give you answers. If the matchups are incomplete/outdated, why don’t you play the game and learn the matchups for yourself? Nothing’s stopping you except your own laziness.

Again, you are being lazy. The info is there and yet you don’t want to find it. Nope, it has to be “easy to access” info or bust, right?

To each his own, I guess. I’m still irked by this though - *“I don’t wanna name names for who hasn’t helped out…” *The fact that you mention this specifically, obviously you think some people haven’t helped out. You seem kind of upset about that. IMO, they shouldn’t have to help if they don’t want to, even if it is better for the scene.

Really now, it seems like you’re trying REALLY hard to get people to give you pointers. If they don’t want to give you pointers, then what’s the big fuss about? Not everyone is like Paul.

What difference does it make? Some people are going to take casuals seriously, just like tournaments. Are you telling me they shouldn’t take their matches seriously, just because it’s casuals?

==================================================

Wow, way to overgeneralize. What you said isn’t even remotely close to what I said. Try again.

Just because a community exists, that doesn’t mean that the community *has *to help each other.

If you listen to podcasts featuring OG players, they will tell you stories of how there would a “good players” machine and a scrub machine. Scrubs and Top players play on their respective cabinets. Scrub players couldn’t play on the good machine until they got better. You had to earn the right to play on the good machine. After all, if there are only two cabinets, I can understand why top players don’t want to waste their time with scrubs. I’ve never seen this happen at CC in all my years of going there but this seems to be prevalent in US arcades.

you sound like a sad human being :frowning:

And my grandparents walked to school uphill bothways in the snow while fighting dinosaurs. If we wanna jump on the dick of “back in the day if you couldent figure it out you got left behind” then you sir are the ENTIRE reason that fighting games dont take off… take the pain and hate you gatherd while you lost to girls in a public setting like an arcade and man up. Help people out. Im shit at this game yet i still help people when i see them loseing to the same crap over and over i dont just laugh tell them to look it up and send them on there way…

Might as well just be an online warrior then?

I read somewhere that they’re having a day one patch on release date to fix that

Also, why is this guy such a negative Nancy?

GGs at BPs and the midnight launch.

I saw him cleaning at Superstore. Whatever work ethic he has in gaming certainly did not roll over to real life.

for real, how well do u guys prepare urselves for a match? do u look up info about ur opponents moves, familiarize urself with ur opponents most common combos so u know the timing to crouch tech, read frame data so u can blow up ur opponents when the opportunity arises, do u recognize their safe jumps, frame traps, & setups? there r sites like “eventhubs” & “i play winner” which have basic character guides which contain general information. just take some initiative and learn the basics before asking for help. shawn i know u play honda & i briefly studied up on ur character can u say u did the same for me? i even pointed out when u were dropping ur combos (e.g., stand HK after HHS), recognized ur safe jumps, etc. yet u didn’t even recognize some of my characters bnb combos.

on a side note, there r mostly noobs that post in the srk forums with a few exceptions (shoutouts to alioune sensei’s posts). u’re better off watching videos of pro players if u want to learn the match up, safe jumps, set ups, etc. i’ve learned more technology from players like bonchan & mago than the srk forums.

Thoughts on SFxT? i am willing to pick it up if people are playing online (eg SSF4 vs Sentinel ) even tho Hibiki isnt in it… YET!

How was the launch tourney last night? Who won?

@j - The game looks like fun. There is way more going on then spacing and rock paper scissor guessing games tho. I’m gonna buy it today.
