I don’t want to know everything, is the short answer. I’m not trying to be pro, know every setup every matchup every frametrap every safe jump every permutation. For me, if I’m being blown up in a way I don’t understand, I check frame data and try to learn more about the character. If its not that bad, I’d rather learn without devoting serious study to a videogame. Its a hobby where my goal is self improvement, not professional scholarly interest. I get your into theory fighter, but I’m not. And I can still improve my game without knowing who’s crouching strong is +1 on block.
SFxT’s trials take some getting used to. Its pretty easy to get a chain combo when you’re trying to link instead, messes a lot up.

i only spent like 15 min to study up on honda… event hubs for a brief overview (moves & combos), i play winner for a brief strategy, srk forums to see if there were safe jumps posted (which there was), & a quick look at the frame data. not too time consuming if u ask me, all i learned was basic info & nothing more. i’m just saying i came a little bit prepared, it’s not like i know everything but at least i came in with some basic info that you could build on & teach me or i could have found something that u didn’t know. i feel u on that nobody wants to spend hours studying the game when they could be playing the game, after all experience is the best & most fun way to learn the game. but if all it takes is 15 min to learn some basics… y not?
Blerhghgh I want to get cracking at this game too but I still need to save and get a new fight stick. Mine’s beginning to show its lackluster quality parts…
