Any1 wana come 2 gmac tomorrow 2 play some marvel
I was thinking of either starting a games club within the Comic Books and Games Club. They most play board games, so it would be nice to have a video games section with it. Another alternative solution is asking the Computing Science Group to maybe start a LAN/Games Night group. They recently had a LAN night and was able to get like 4 big screen tvs there. I’ll have to discuss it with the execs to see what their input is.
the ideal place should have food and drinks but ill settle for anywhere that has ppl that dont mind our crowd…not really feeling u of a tho
Haha that would be awesome if u can get something together. I usually just go 2 the comic books n games club and play marvel by myself, except that 1 time Steven came.

The bad thing about grant is it closes quite early >.<
actually I did ask the comic book and games club if we could bring our games and shit there and they said they had no issue with us doing so, so, eh why not?
Doesn’t that mean we can only stay until 8PM?
We can try to see if we can do it till 10. I wonder if we can get those big tvs…
God, Justin just choked so hard.
I saw that. But Wolfkrones performance was other worldly, to his defense
Sadly, it slipped my mind to watch the Marvel singles. I find the game more fun to watch than actually play. Anything hype happen?
Rocket raccoon won or should i say log trap assist won
Thanks for the input bro, went for jak n daxter something from naughty dog…hmmn! will be fun
thanks went jak…funny game
The thing about growing better competition is the better players have to step up not just in how they play but in giving out a pointer or two. It kinda sucks for the best players to not have a lot of peers to play, but you get more peers on your level if you help out the weaker guys. When I play Paul, I learn shit. Yes its a ridiculous matchup and the win/loss ratios are hugely in his favor, but even now he’s got good knowledge of the game and I can get feedback. Many times I got told to stop falling for this safe jump, or I could ask if X was safe and he’d let me know. Some others will just take wins, shake their head and mutter under their breath and neither player will be better off for it. But actually teaching? Stuff like what Paul does, this is golden, and helped a lot. Weaker players can’t get better without playing the better players, and more importantly learning something for it. I’m not asking for the better players to always being stuck being FGC tutors, but some quality feedback here and there goes a long long way. I don’t wanna name names for who hasn’t helped out as pretty much everyone has, but I want to keep pointing out growing better players is all you can do, can’t ask for them to just appear out of nowhere.
Let’s start right on sfxt!
Let me recap the UMvC3 singles… (╯°□°)╯︵ [ニニニ] LOG TRAP!(╯°□°)╯︵ [ニニニ] LOG TRAP!(╯°□°)╯︵ [ニニニ] LOG TRAP!(╯°□°)╯︵ [ニニニ] LOG TRAP!(╯°□°)╯︵ [ニニニ] LOG TRAP!
And that was how it went down.
Not going to lie though, the matches were pretty hype. I enjoyed every minute of it!
The thing about providing feedback though is that you don’t want to come off as a douchebag.
I mean, this person you are destroying is taking precious time out of their lives to come out here and play. You don’t want to insult them.
what time?
4-8pm
If you can’t handle constructive criticism, maybe this isn’t the thing for you. I mean sure, I don’t need to hear something like “stop falling for this OS you dumbfuck piece of shit, get the fuck outta here”… howabout instead, “hey you know this is an OS right? You can pretty much only block and deal with the next mixup. Watch for it next time.”
Example, Paul’s Seth vs my Honda:
After Seth’s SPD, he jumps in for a I believe jumping roundhouse. Its a safe jump, no reversals I have can beat it. I have to stand block. If he had a delay timing of some kind I could perhaps try to ex headbutt, but as its a very easy safejump I pretty much can’t risk it ever. Wake up block is the only option. Or another time, his jump in would be buffered with OS srk, I’d eat it everytime until I began to clue in a bit. I asked him whats with the dp, he told me its an os. I can’t press buttons after the block. Would I have figured this out on my own? Yeah, maybe. But in the interest of having a better opponent and not a bigger epeen, Paul told me about it.
THIS IS GOOD SHIT.
WE NEED MORE GOOD SHIT.
Now I stress I know enough people here to not react badly to constructive criticism, and take it as such. This is also good. And I know the better players want to play mostly the better players because its more fun and makes them even better players, so I’m not asking for help a scrub night. What would be cool is if the same setup is smashing a guy who clearly is out of your league and he can’t figure it out? Point it out. I’m not asking for you to disarm your best trick or necessarily explain how to beat it. Maybe point out the setup, or when is a likely time to watch for it. Let them know your not just randomly pressing buttons but actually trying something they really gotta learn to stop or not get into the situation. I can think of the times I’ve played above my level and get wrecked by something and the guy basically doesn’t look at me, say anything or just give a shit and moves on. Where’s the satisfaction in that? Its casuals in Edmonton, not main stage at Evo.
Once you get someone to open their mind and focus less about what your character does and what the opponents character does, you get into their mind and know what they are going for next. This is what improves players, recognizing shit. This may be easy or brain dead dumb for people playing competitively for ten years, but we’re not all there. Let’s fucking get there and take sfxt away from Calgary.
Btw, despite Paul estimating Honda as Seth’s easiest matchup, I haven’t lost to a Seth other than Paul since, and I played a few gooders. I might have taken longer or less time to learn stuff than some others, but I’ve learned. And if we can work as a group? Who the hell knows where we can go from here.
