Edmonton Thread - 2012

whoops sorry. what Killey said.

Is it safe to assume there will be at least one SF setup?

Hmmm…seems doubtful but I would e-mail them just to be sure.

From what I understand they host bi-weekly and tomorrow is a special case because I asked them to set something for KoF.

xbl : fpsmichal

email is still the best way.

Bravo Capcom!!!

Resident Evil: Revelations for the 3DS has flawless netcode lol

Fucking Square, they took a page out of Capcom’s book. Fuck FFXIII-2, I’m sorry I even gave it a chance. This isn’t really even spoilers, but they cut the ending in half and you’ll get the rest by DLC. Get the fuck outta here with this shit!

That’s more like a page from Ubisoft’s book when they went “oh, this memory doesnt exist… unless you pay $10” in one of the Assassin’s Creed games.

Still wow…

I always thought it was the journey that was important, not the destination.

Isn’t there supposed to be mulitple endings (like 8)? What ending do you get with DLC?

Squenix take my money now!

Take a breath then read this: http://www.substance-tv.com/2012/02/final-fantasy-xiii-2s-dlc-conundrum/
Life will go on

I think if you played 13 and didn’t like it you might still be able to get behind 13-2. It’s pretty awesome so far. Give it a chance then thank me later. It’s a cool game.

I bought the game on release. I just haven’t opened it yet. It’s on the to-do list after Kingdoms of Amalur.

NIce. What system did you get Kingdom of Amalur on?

Fuck Ubi and its games I don’t play then too!

Except it was the same 5 or 6 maps repeated multiple times and a main quest I finished in just over 20 hours. To put that in perspective, that’s the length of a snes FF except with more repeated content lol. Any other jrpg released in the last ten years probably has twice the time if not more. Not to mention the formula was so boring: new time, find an artefact (key), find a gate (level end), next. Can’t they write a scenario that isn’t the same one over and over on the same maps over and over?

Here’s the thing, they took the ending, added in a massive cliffhanger then ended with To Be Continued. That article is bullcrap, if they had actually seen the ending they would clearly see Square isn’t done with this world. Be it dlc, a portable game or XIII-3 the story is not done. I won’t spoil why but you have to trust me on this.

The alternate endings are just like Crono Trigger, in that they suck. Its not complex, its little side story type things that often are slightly or amusing and most don’t even make for an “ending”. Its like, say you fight big boss X during the main quest and he’s supposed to beat you. Now you can go back and beat him, and you get an “ending” for it. Not a selling point.

Turn it in for credit before word gets out that XIII is the better game. Yes, I am saying that with a straight face.

Have you played persona 4? It’s the exact opposite of what you’re describing. I put a 100 hours into that game and never fought the real boss. Times have changed. You’re not going to get away from DLC.
From what I read in that article I agree that the game itself is worth the price due to re-playability and overall awesomeness of the game. I’m only 2-3 hours into the game so far.

Meh I disagree. 13-2 is a vast improvement.

I don’t understand how people still play final fantasy games because they used to be great. 13 was shit, I don’t see why it’s so surprising that 13-2 is shit. Square died long ago, it’s time to move on.

Is anybody getting Twisted Metal?

Also I talked to the BPs guy and he said there would be one setup for games that aren’t KOF. Are any non-KOF players coming out?

i’ve announced this in the Calgary thread already, we’ll be streaming another FT5 AE v2012 match…
one of Calgary’s best Sam vs. one of Etowns best JJTactics
time and date to be announced as both parties have just accepted the challenge

im taking bets $10 - $50. i got my homeboy Sam.

Steve:
I got Kingdoms of Amalur for the PS3. I think it’s just an okay game but there’s a lot of similarities to Skyrim and I think Skyrim does a lot of things better except for the combat. I think the combat system is more fun in Amalur.

Peter:
Is this another online challenge?
