EDIT: ***NOW FREE*** Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Strategy Guide v1.04 App for Android/Iphone

***** THIS APPLICATION FOR ANDROID AND iOS DEVICES IS NOW FREE OF CHARGE SO GO DOWNLOAD IT AND PLEASE RATE IT GOOD IF YOU ENJOY IT!! *****

First of all I just want to say that I asked SRK staff if this was okay to post on the forums and he said it was okay, so that I’m not just spamming crap w/out approval.

So the past 2 weeks I have been working on an app for the iPhone that is a strategy guide to have in the palm of your hands. The best part about it is that once you have it, there is absolutely no network connection required. All of the data is contained in the app. So it will work if you are in someones basement playing at a tourney in a hotel w/crappy reception, etc.

I finished it last Thursday and submitted it to the iTunes store. For now, I left out Frame Data and Move Data, but they are going to be added and completely free upgrade. I left it out for the time being so I could work on the Android port of the app before I gathered that data, since it is going to take some time.

The past few days I started my Android version and I actually ported it quicker than I thought, and it went live last night. So for now, the Android version is the only live version, but the iPhone one will be available probably in about 2 days. I will update this with the link when it is available. Below is the information.

As some of you may know, I wrote a similar app for SSF4, linked below

http://shoryuken.com/f315/edit-12-16-2010-ssf4-guide-v1-3-live-iphone--now-android--237478/

That was my first mobile app, and I learned a lot from some mistakes I made prior, so this one feels a lot more polished than the SSF4 one, and looks a lot nicer IMO. I took a bit of the feedback I received from the SSF4 app and incorporated that into this one, including the most wanted feature by far … COMBOS!

While talking about the looks of the new app, I want to give a shoutout to my buddy who is into the fighting scene as well, Avalon for all of his hard work he did with the graphics. He tweaked em and did hi-res versions to make it look tons nicer than the SSF4 app. And while on that note, ALL GRAPHICS ARE 100% USER MADE, NO GRAPHICS OR IMAGES WERE TAKEN FROM MARVEL OR CAPCOM!

So now onto the app…

Included in v1.0 Right now, for all 36 characters, is the following:

  • Vitals, including health, combo type, assists, and command attacks.
  • Special Moves
  • Hyper Moves
  • Combos, 7 per character, from beginner to advanced
  • Notes, where you can store notes about the character on a per-character basis…

I have place holders for the Frame Data and Move Data sections for the time being, and it gives you a notice saying they will be available in v1.1.

I also have place holder spots for Jill and Shuma-Gorath, who will be updated in the app FOR FREE once they are available from the DLC March 15th.

I’m going to be checking this thread and using this kind of as the “official” bug list and stuff like that, so if you download it and find any issues with it please feel free to let me know in this thread. I already know of some bugs, and will keep a tally of them at the bottom of this post and update it as ones come through, and fix them. If there are BOTH PLATFORM bugs I’m going to be fixing them at the same time to keep the apps in sync.

If you purchase this app and enjoy it please rate it high and leave a good review so people know it is useful!

Thanks a bunch and enjoy!

KNOWN BUGS

Both Platforms

  • None

Android

  • Layout on Android Galaxy S Table looks a little funky.

iOS

  • Sentinel Health fix (in review)

Thanks a lot for this, It will be really helpful indeed, and I will get it for the Iphone ASAP. Man, what a great portable tool!.

Bump for sticky, please!

This is great! I looked over the SSFIV one every day when I have down time, can’t wait to do the same for Marvel.

So far 2 people have reported crash bugs on Android version through the marketplace. One of them gave me specifics how they did it so that will be easy to track down and fix. The other guy didn’t tell me what he was doing, but I know he was looking at either special or hyper moves when it crashed.

If you find a crash and report it, please give a description of what you did to make it happen. That will make it a lot easier for me to fix.

Thanks!

EDIT: Figured what it was on the other crash … Phoenix Hyper Combos cause crash - will fix tonight, along with other Android bugs, then as soon as iphone out of review and on the market, i will upload the fixed one of that as well (which will again take like a week to get reviewed).

This is epic, already purchased! Thanks man, loving the notes section. Saves me from finding a scrap of paper at work to jot down notes of stuff I wanna try when I get home.

Bought and rated!

Just what the doctored ordered ! ??? !

Let us know when the Apple version is up and running. Thanks for your devotion, great work !

Thanks for the shoutout Purbaste.

Both Platforms
-“Hsien-Ko” is misspelled … shoulda just remembered I before E except after C (from 5th grade).

lol You never told me you took Japanese in 5th grade!

Just picked this up on Android, cheers purbeast. Hope to see frame data soon!

Okay, just uploaded v1.01 to the Android Market, so you all should be seeing an upgrade notification I think (not sure how Android updates happen).

It addressed the following issues:

  • Fixed spelling of Hsien-Ko
  • Fixed crash when viewing Magneto’s Intermediate #3 combo.
  • Fixed crash when viewing Phoenix Hyper Combos.

As soon as the iTunes App store approves my initial upload, the v1.01 will be submitted to the iTunes store.

Just uploaded version 1.02 for Android which fixed the following:

Fixed the mix up on Chris’ Vitals page, where the Health, Combo Archetype, and first Assist were mixed up.

Small bug but I’d rather have it right than wrong as soon as I can. Again this will be fixed in the first update on the iOS update whenever they approve the initial one.

Bought, first thought was : You should change the colors of the characters name, it’s barely readable atm

Second was : it’s awesome !
Can’t wait for the frame data ^^

Just bought it. Looks awesome on my Mytouch4G.

downloading now on my droid x. Thanks man!

iOS version is now live.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Guide for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

I’m still not seeing it when I search for “Marvel vs Capcom” or anything, but it is there because I just loaded that link in Safari on my iPhone and it brings you to the link in the store.

please rate if you enjoy it thanks!

EDIT:

it is now showing up when searching for marvel vs capcom

Just purchased for iOS

I’ll buy this when it has frame data…

Well the first update for iOS version has been uploaded to the iTunes store. As with normal app reviews, it should take about a week or so to go live.

It includes all of the v1.01 and v1.02 fixes as explained above.

  • Hsien-Ko misspelling.
  • Magneto Intermediate #3 Combo missing a h attack button.
  • Chris’ vitals page being kind of mixed up.
