Economical case alternative

briefcase was super easy to cut thru. and its very sturdy. costs like 12 bux too.

Here’s my ghetto stick:

Wasn’t planning on keeping it for much longer as I was planning on building a wooden box. However I’m getting a little attached to it so might just end up ordering another set of parts…

Here is the finished product minus one red button (was missing from the order, being sorted soon :frowning: ) :

I really like the honeycomb of that Case Kreeeee.
The Buttons look like they go there exactly.

Anwhere I can find one too?
If you do not mind.

The honeycomb idea is actually pretty awesome. Would go nice with a CvS2 stick. I’m about to throw some happ parts in the box for my SE stick haha

The box is “ReallyUseful Box 4L”

4.50 in Clear, Pink, Blue or Purple

These are AWESOME… I might just make one fer meself! I actually might need a 360 stick at some point and this could fit the bill!

When I mod my sticks I’m going to have a bunch of Hori and Madcatz SE parts left over I was considering making a stick out of them. I wanted to use a case like that, but they aren’t uite cheap enough at Wal-Mart. I’m considering using one of those flat clear tackle boxes they sell for like $5.

I’ve got an Idiot Box (slagcoin’s design) build in the paint stages. After getting all my parts from Akihabarashop and Lizard Lick, I decided that I couldn’t wait any more. I picked up the case from my local Container Store and little bit of drilling and Dremelling later, I had this:

The case is great…it’s sturdy and a good balance between heft and portability. It’s not to big and not too tall. But it is noisy. The button presses tend to echo inside of the case. I do have some cracks around it, but all in all, it does the job.

I wish I could say that this was a low buck build, but I think I’m going to get a Red Light camera ticket from a trip to get nuts and bolts to mount the JLF and rubber feet. So…$15 + $300 (at least).

You have a store that sells nothing but containers?

Thats what I was thinking.
I might be picking up a Really Useful Box 4L for my build

Yeah…we have a Container Store in San Diego. It’s pretty nice, but things are a little pricey. But anything that you could use to make life a little more convenient is in there.

There was also a very heavy duty and thick Tupperware-type of container that I was looking at. It was also $15 and it’s lid was very sturdy and would have held weight without support underneath - but it was way taller than the case that I ended up getting.

How are people actually playing on these things?

I saw the OP’s tupperware stick and decided to make my own with the exact same container. I modded a MC retro pad and used a bunch of spare Happ parts laying around. When I went to use it, I couldn’t even tap a diagonal without the stick flying outta my lap. Do I just add weights to it? How are some of the ghetto shoebox sticks even playable?

Love the tupperware one! Would only cost you a dollar at the dollar store!

Put a sock full of change in the bottom or something.

lol ghetto, but I love them all. Maybe I’ll make a ghetto stick with my spare madcatz parts for friends to use when they come over.

Yeah, I dug around in my basement for my old set of free weights and I just added two 2.5 pound weights at the bottom of the tupperware. Everything just barely fit, so I covered the PCB in magic cards because I was worried about something shorting out. Wow. Ghetto, hey.

I was playing on the stick pictured in this thread last night and my wife woke up and told me that it was very loud and that it sounded like she was inside Amoeba. I had to switch to my wireless Street Fighter Anniversary Stick.

Amoeba (for the non-Southern Californians) is an awesome used music store, but all their CDs and DVDs are in those secure clear plastic “clamshell” cases. Whenever you go there, there are several dozen people there ruffling through these plastic cases…so all you ever hear when you get there is chatter and lots of plastic “clackity clack” noises. So yeah…that’s pretty much what my case sounds like when I’m playing.

Gotta post this one here as well

Shoebox! Going to use the parts in an actual case when I get around to making one, but this seemed like a good way to spend the weekend.

Using an old Hori stick until I get my JLF in the mail.
