bear with me folks, i’ve been on the road for the last few weeks/months.
i will have to agree with chibi on this. it’s not enough time for people to prepare for a console tourney in this.
aside cvs2 and possibly tekken, i would rather not schedule any other official console tourneys. side tourney’s are possible, but my aim with this is mostly arcade this time around since ecc12/evo east had their showing. this if for everyone who missed arcade marvel and breaksteaks :wgrin:
btw, for the record i <3 arcana, so there’s no hate in this decision
if arcana is somehow released early cough cough i’d allow someone to host a side tourney.
side tourney, sure! i’ll try to have some room allocated somewhere.
i cannot guarantee the quality of the sticks when i’m not hosting a tournament. however, i usually install brand new happ perfect 360s prior to the tournament for all the cabinets aside of st. i use competition sticks for st.
so far, i would like to only announce arcade mvc2, 3s tournaments at this time.
both double elim with double elim pools. top 32 advances to a reset bracket.
mvc2 will have a re-entry pool.
console cvs2 and tekken dr are possibilities, but i have to reconfirm with the owner.
side note: does anyone know if there are any major engine differences between arcade and console dr? (aside jinpachi)
oh yeah, breaksteak challenge will also be effect.

just in case, check to see if you work on columbus day. some offices and most schools are closed, which is why i picked that weekend.

nope i got labor day off and then the next day is Thanksgiving. this sucks. i think i might have a 1/2 day left, maybe i can use that and just go into work for the afternoon. we’ll see i guess…traffic from NJ to CT on Sunday nights is atrociously bad, especially if you have to take the GWB.

I never thought i’d be saying this, but I am the only one that would prefer 3S on console this time around, so we can use our own sticks? Considering the amount of people that play on jap sticks nowadays.
We can leave one cabinet just for Flash to play his games on, lol
I’d rather it be console too. I don’t really care about 3s though, as long as cvs2 is on ps2 then I’ll be there.
I’ll be coming with Joe from LI. Not exactly looking forward to the Break’s 3S sticks, but I’m sure it will be fun either way.
I’d actually rather 3rd Strike be on console. I can bring my A/V splitter if you guys would like to play the tournament on an SBO type setup. I know I play a whole lot better on my own stick than I do on the Break sticks. If you guys want I could definitely help run the 3rd Strike tournament.
I actually might not be coming since I won’t be playing mvc2 anymore after evo. And Arcana Heart isn’t coming out until oct 11th or the 12th for ps2, so yea… Unless yall had a halo 3 tournament, then I’d consider cause that game will be owning on sept 25th! Hmm, but all in all I’ll think about it because it’s always fun chillen with you guys, so maybe I’ll just come out to have a good time instead of playing for once.
i think that given the chance, you’ll find a mass concensus that people would rather play 3s/cvs2/st/any game on console rather than arcade at this point…besides mvc2. we’re all used to our own controls and we don’t want to be forced to use something we’re not used to. especially sloppy “perfect” 360s which i think finally have gone the way of the dinosaur, since people are realizing they are so imperfect after all.
however…
i think that Phi is trying to get the old school ECC vibe here and in the end, we’re all going to be forced to play on cabs.
I think this will be more of a “meet up with all the old peeps and chill/game” rather than a “super serious EVO-level competitive event.” I want to go just for the damn breaksteaks 
but we’ll have to see if i can make it with zero time off left at work.

the results of this tournament basically dont really count because pad warriors are at a disadvantage, lots of people use and prefer jap sticks and the break takes average care of their stuff 
Don’t count in what sense? The title belt that the winner receives can’t be worn to other events? Pot is paid in monopoly money?
…and JetPhi takes out that stuff and puts in new stuff before it starts.
I think what he’s saying is, the results of this tournament will not definitely prove anything with “official” standings and such. Which is what I meant earlier when I said “you shouldn’t take results seriously like this is an EVO or something, this is more of a social event than anything else.” But I think everyone is fine with that.
