Eric Kim can’t concentrate on 2 games at once. That’s why he left 3S. That and I would think he sees much more in the future of SFIV than 3S. The game is crazy popular and mad people are hungry to level up. The pool to train up in SFIV is so big compared to 3S. On any random day you can find someone in the area to practice offline with in SFIV. People are playing it all over. Many 3S players are either droping it for IV or playing it a lot less now that the scene is dying down. 3S isn’t going to take us anywhere anymore in the scene so there’s a lot of incentive to drop it. Especially when SFIV takes so dang long to run. 3S just feels like it takes up time now. SFIV is that game that could actually get some of us past playing fighting games as a hobby.

Paul Wall pretty much said the same thing to me when we played in the 3S tournament. He didn’t even use Akuma. The mindsets in both games are rather different and using a lot of 3S style mind games in IV will kill you quick. All I have to remember is that there’s no parry in SFIV and I’m good. Luckily Viper is somewhat similar to Ibuki in her abilities and overall game plan. Fluster the opponent into making a bunch of mistakes and lots of super jump cancelling.

I’ll play casuals in 3S now but my incentive to improve my game in it and still compete with a mindset of winning in tourneys for it has all but died. I literally enter 3S tournaments now just to kick it with the 3S guys.

NINJA EDIT: This is totally out of left field from what I was just talking about but I agree with DS. People should be inspired by Mike Ross to stick with the character they are passionate about. Not drop characters for others higher on the tier list. You have to make the character your own and with that you can do anything. Except for Vega. :lol:

i dunno ive been going to these types of things for awhile and they never go as planned so i was expecting anything grand or whatever.

so I mean as far as it went it did finish on time(which i had doubts about) and was hype every part of the weekend.

Its the first major john and joe ran. Of course it aint going to be perfect. And yea they couldve asked for help but they just wanted to do it on their own. They wanted to make a name for themselves and I think they did very well with the knowledge they have in general.

And the next one will def be better and the next one after that and the next one after that.

And the qualifier part. If you look at the team I orginally picked, people were complaining bout how it shouldn’t be those 4 but it ended it up the same 4 people. Right now the 5th member can be a toss up between 6 people right now since the quals has not been done yet

Justin, stop the BS and just pick a 5th. No offense to anyone still in, but the qualifier tournament with no Rufus/Sagat/etc. allowed really doesn’t mean much.

I haven’t seen Sanford play, or Min either, and again, no offense to the rest of the guys still in, but I like Chaos for the 5th spot.

Were me and ART seeds, 8 seeds in a 131 man tourney should not have seen each other until semi’s granted we won our matches.

some seeding they gave me, (i mean Art beat me straight up, GS ART) but tourney is not only about skill its mental to and ya know the seeding is for the purpose of the non named player to have the pressure on him and the seeded player to have less pressure on him until he gets to another seeded player.

I just love how in the qualifiers my matched was changed to 3 outta 5 before my match with eric kim (who once again no complaints beat me straight up). NICE WAY TO RUN A QUALIFIER. at this point justin should just pick the 5th why not he picked the spot a day before the tourney when everyone was expecting 3 qualifiers tourneys HMMM but yet they said it was to late to make the decision to ban seth hmph makes you wonder.
Oh so how do the players of the SF4 tourney feel who did not even get to play there matches especially those who won there matches never got to play so will never truly no who were the top eights.

I was in there as Chris O or tubsy3. But somehow got lost. I was suppsoed to play min in the bracket b4 everything got cancelled. Doesnt matter much since I cant really make it to NY to play for the spot. GL to the rest!

How does it not matter much? Its a 5v5 with no duplicate characters. If it was an actual tournament where guys were not allowed yea it wouldnt matter. They need someone who plays something other than the 4 already chosen.

Man idk why everyone is complaining…you guys talk about the tournament even though it finished completely…shit happens and considering the magnitude of a tournament like this I think you guys should give john and joe much more credit…if it wasn’t for them
You wouldn’t have seen joe vs nestor n eric kim
You wouldn’t have gotten a taste of the WC greater force
You wouldn’t have been at a nice ass hotel like that
You wouldn’t have had the amount of comp
And you wouldn’t have had the amount of hype or fun (if you didn’t then your buggin)

But again you guys have to remember this is their first big major tournament with over 100 ppl for one tournament…let’s see some other ppl try to just improvise with what they have and run shit…besides it will obviously get better I’m sure you all have been to a first NEC or ECC or other first time big tournaments and they have all gotten better and so will this one

All I’m sayin is give them some fuckin credit for doing this in the first place instead of sayin you’ll never come to another…if you came all that matters is that you had fun at the end of the day and went home knowing that without ppl like them you wouldn’t have tournaments such as these

If you want to give suggestions then go ahead but don’t bash them for doing their best in the first place

5 on 5 quals don’t mean much because in the actual 5 on 5 you’re gonna have to play againsy the characters you didn’t have to to get there.

So say you lose to Rufus/Sagat/Sim free. Yeah, you may be able to win the qual, but when you have to face these characters in the actual event, you’re worthless.

you really should’ve just picked the whole team, you already chose 60% of it. i think you didn’t want to hurt people’s feelings, but it really wasn’t that serious to begin with. imo, you should put chaos on the team based on results.
