And I agree with moose and everyone else who voted for chaos. He’s been the most consistent player with ken to dominate and clearly the best ken on the EC. His results and skill speak for themselves. Personally, if I didn’t end up losing my match right before the 5 v 5 qualifiers ended and I was still in it with those 6 guys in the list, then I would give up my spot to chaos. Yea, no rog in the team is different I’ll admit, but maybe that’s the change up we need since everyone is getting used to fighting rog way better now. It’s up to Justin in the end to be honest, but at this point I think him, marn, joe and art should just go on a team vote if anything.

Good tournament: shit was hype.
first off to SJC: sorry if I was being an ass, but us tournament organizers have loud mouths. It’s good to have a plan, and everything all sectioned off, but it’s best to roll with the punches and let the hype matches be hype. A learning experience, for sure, and you lasted a long time before going off on someone.
to the internet: doing the stream was fun, look for it in the future.
About the tournament in general: just needed to have more setups and less 5v5 distraction. That tournament needed a cap and a nomination process.
Oh, as far as 5v5, I vote for Damdai. Gief is a great character to have in a 5v5 tournament. He hard counters important characters (C.Viper, Abel, Rufus) Does really well against other popular characters (Boxer, Dictator), and flat out loses to some. Plus consider that that the West Coast teams both have Balrogs but no Sagats.
Damdai and Smoothviper are still left in the tournament, but I feel Damdai’s patient style coupled with a better knowledge of matchups would make for a far scarier gief. Smoothviper seemed to rely on blind agression and Gief day 1 gimmicks.
I wouldn’t complain about Chaos on the team either. It’d be great to have a non NY player on it as well.

it was good seeing everyone, even though i wasn’t around for the whole weekend.
first off, congrats to john and joe for a successful event.
things were definitely rocky, but the bottom line is that the main tournaments actually finished and many people had fun.
sunday was horrendous for me (mostly for personal reasons), but the finals definitely made my day.
i’ll post vids in a timely phi manner (read: weeks/months/years late), depending permission

however, it’s definitely not the state. there are a lot of quality tournaments all over the east coast.
unfortunately, there’s only so much bandwidth in the lives of the more established organizers.
props to john and joe for stepping up and taking the initiative.
that said, i have a bit of constructive criticism i will discuss with john to help improve.
learning from our and others’ mistakes is what makes us better.
myself, todd, eric, henry, robin, phil, and any organizer east/west/north/south/midwest/etc can attest.
for the the last qualifier, just pick the strongest player with an unused character who’s consistent enough against higher level players/characters.
either that or just hold an invitational qualifier and pit the invites against the team, as well as other consistent players. like cf gauntlet style 
the people who are left in the other qual can be auto-invites.
it’s justin’s choice regardless. he didn’t have to have any qualifiers. he just wanted to try to give people chances, even though things have been a bit chaotic.
remember… there’s still more than 2 months to evo. so there’s time to even make something fun out of it besides just a debate.

Also I have alot of respect for justin giving everyone a chance to join the team, even if it turned out to be the same team he wanted. I am totally down for him choosing the final spot.

Akuma has no bad matchups and does well vs alot of characters not to mention sagat and gief(from matchup view). Im from mars though and cant be on the team (also i need to learn a few more matches). :smokin: I think Justin should just pick the last guy cause if he puts choas or kells or whoever and that player loses at some tourny b4 evo he just gonna get kicked out. So note to last player STAY HOME! lol You guys should start out with joe cause sagat dont lose to anyone. No good sagats on the WC thats why they think rog is so good.

On a side note the tourny was hype due to the calibur of talent but it was run poorly. DQing DSP in a game he will p place in is dumb im sure it would not have happened if it was art or someone else. Also comming off at the mouth cause your mad to the players that showed to your event (supporting u guys) is bad just to apologize after. 1 of my friends was thrown out of the tourny for no reason and he is a solid player, thats pretty bad explain that one, i had everyone around me complaining and I hate that shit so ill stop now and say atleast we have another EC major to step our games up.
