You have a nice Sagat. When you post up your thread for the next one please make sure whomever does mentions bringing TVs/Systems. If you’re planning for the same amount of people offer venue discounts of $10 off for a TV and $10 off for a system (if it’s $20 again) per person, and cap it at 20 tvs/systems given discounts unless you feel you’ll need more.

I was simply upset that people complained but didn’t offer a solution. I wasn’t even planning on bringing my TVs down but since there were none I did, and all I heard were people complaining which kind of bugged me. After I set the PS3’s to 720p and turned off all the noise reduction I could it felt to me that there was at most 2 frames of lag on the TV (34 milliseconds, which is acceptable according to the HDTV lag thread in Tech Talk). However, I didn’t test it with rockband or a stopwatch.

I’m going out and buying a few CRTs to cart around to tournaments, so there will be TVs just in case none are there and there will be CRTs just in case none are there. Had I known this would have been the case here I would have gone out and found some CRTs. I got my LCDs for cheap and I just brought them because they were light and not horribly laggy.

I have a lot of respect for good players though. When I come out of my cave to hit up an EC major give me a few casual matches if you don’t mind.

I agree min you have legit complaints. Its our first, problems are sure come with it. The 5 on 5 really messed us up. It was 2 more 60 man tournys we had to deal with. If that was taking out of our hands things would of went a lot smoother. The was a conflict of hype between 5 on 5 and singles, people wanted to play here and there big screen small screen crt or the few not-so-bad HDs. We are going to take all of this into concern for our next one dont worry.

Moose. Now you know how I felt in your hometown when you beat me that first game of the teams! Everyone wanted to see me loose hahah. In all honesty, your rog is no bullshit. That man is fierce. Thank you for the complement. I can say your easy one of the top rogs on EC, easy.

I wouldn’t say there was a problem running the 5v5 qualifier besides the fact that all the players trying to qualify for the teams were too busy watching the other matches players were having instead of playing their matches if anything like this goes down again just DQ both players.

I thought the tourney went well. So we didn’t have enough tvs some of them lagged oh well big deal getting the venue for 2 days cost alot already not to mention buying next LCD tvs would cost even more. Maybe next ECT non-lag tvs will be available.

I personally loved this event it was great seeing all the people there. Hope to see everyone again at EVO and the next ECT2.

everyone in this thread has valid complaints and i agree with them.

toureny was hype as fuck but organization was poor, i understand LI Joe is running everywhere but if thats the case, phi/eric/dsp where there, you could have always asked them for help to smooth things along. plus 1/2 of the tv’s lagged out tho the point where it was unusable for a tourney, you should really use guitar hero lag testers this time or at least test the tvs before using them for tourney. or fuck it stick to CRT.

at the very least, tons of players had setups upstairs, you could have used ours if you just asked, i dont know why people didnt want to play on lag free xbox setups, its the same exact shit.

projector without a CRT monitor that the players cannot see also, imo is not a good idea. i didnt feel any lag but some players complained about projector lag. pretty much until you get the lag issue solved, its gonna suck for all future tourneys. also, DQing DSP even tho he was RIGHT there in the tourney hall recording matches (not like he was off somewhere) was kinda lame imo, cmon =/

anyway, running a tourney is no easy hurdle, but yeah, hopefully ou guys will get it straight for the next one. pz.

btw cool seeing every1 and good seeing gootecks/ross, ill have to come out for my revenge at some point

Joe for getting his spot back. What a great match to watch. So much love for joe and now I understand why they call him ‘iloveyou’. Joe is one of nicest guys to talk to, and he is a beast.
Mike Ross and Gootecks for being SOOO cool and letting me stay in their room. WC defintly proved their skills at ECT.
Moose for coming out of nowhere and showing his gdlk boxer.

I hope that the lesson learned is that you need to have a team of people to get your tournament to run smoothly. 3-4 people won’t cut it nowadays. Everyone involved needs to know how to run a bracket.

I feel that the “side tournament” took up too much time and space from the rest of the tourney. Nobody held a gun to anyone’s head and said that the tournament “has to” have this side tourney. Of course it will draw traffic to the event, but it came at the expense of the rest of the tourney. Plainly speaking, if you weren’t there for SF4, it felt like the other tournaments didn’t matter.

And to whoever was saying that the people who were complaining should have helped - that’s not necessarily the correct answer. The people who came to the tournament are guests of the tournament directors. It is the directors responsibility to get their shit together.

I say this from experience. Ten years ago and running ECC4, it wasn’t until the tournament started when I realized that I didn’t have enough help to run all the tournaments at once, and A3’s numbers were double the expected amount. I have two regrets from ECC4: 1) Not having the staffing situation under control and 2) Asking the Cannons to assist. They helped out in a big way and we were able to get the tournament done at a semi-decent hour, but at the same time I took up their time that they were supposed to spend enjoying themselves at the tournament to deal with the stress of running one. It’s not fair to those who offer to help at these events because it is such a thankless job and most don’t realize what they’re in for when it comes to the real deal.

I support u Jonny, It is not easy to run a tourament like that! Any mistakes can be accepted. People should appreciate the runner. I know u gonna be do better next time.

since everyone’s ranting i might as well speak on my worthless observations of the tourney

-i had my own personal frustrations regarding bracketing and their unwillingness to float matches to the point where i forfeited my loser’s match in GGAC cause i had to play someone i live literally down the block from.

-yes there was quite a bit of disorganization, especially when people were going to and fro, and i counted a staff of only 3 at the most to run what was 7 tournaments

-i knew about the laggy TV’s when we were doing HD Remix. me and damdai made sure to keep the matches on regular TV’s. unforutnately i just didn’t give a shit about SF4 enough to make a big fuss about it so i was like watever.

-the same goes for the projector setup. i asked if there was lag and SJC insisted there was none. i believed him(and still do), but once again not something i had to worry about

-i find it strange that help was rejected to run and organize tournaments. when we started 3S i pretty much went up to the desk and was like, “give me the 3rd strike brackets” and SJC had no problem with it. in fact i offered to run the other tournaments on that laptop as well(Marvel, Tekken DR) to make sure they could concentrate solely on SF4.

-the 5on5 was a massive pain in the ass, people were reporting to the wrong brackets, and on the second day it didnt even matter cause the shit never finished anyways

-there were some issues with entry fee with Tekken DR, but i think that was resolved promptly

there were a lot of things that went wrong, but i still enjoyed myself alot. the people and the atmosphere overcame the complications.

all that being said it is my personal opinion that people need to cool it with the “i’ll never show up here again” bullshit. there were very apparent and obvious problems with the tournament, but at the same time when i was there i could see the sincerity of the people who ran it, and the desire they had to have the tournament go as well as they possibly could make it. there was no malicious intent of fucking people over, there was no emotiongear garbage going on. so despite everything i will say that i am defenitely willing to go to the next ECT because i am confident that they can address the shit that went wrong.

My first Regional Tourney and what a Major Letdown!:tdown: This Tourney was So Poorly Ran. I would’ve prefer Six-buttons,DSP, and Renegade to Run the tourney since they have Experience on Running Major Events! NJ rarely gets tourney Like this and when NJ does they Poorly Ran. WTF? I can see why the West Coast is preferred over the east coast when having tournaments. I believe that VA is the only State on the East Coast that can run a Proper tournament=Sinsation Fight Club!

if you guys are planning to do this again DON"T waste time Hyping Shit up. We the Players Can do that ourselves. Use your time to make sure everything is running smooth for a tournament. if you guys are using your names to make a product look good you better make sure that product works as well as it’s advertise to be!

We realize there was a lot of problems with the tourney , I assure you if there is a ECT 2 , it will be run a lot smoother than the first time around.

Sorry if you “never want to attend again” but I pretty much expected that from some people.

I agree we needed more setups , lag free TV’s and we should have just used Xbox setups along with PS3 setups.

We will do out best to learn from this experience and hopefully the second time around we will have fixed all these problems and have just as good of a turn out , even though some of you will talk us down.

All and all I had a great time and I want to thank everyone for coming out for the weekend. I had an amazing time and can’t wait to do it again

Even tho i had good times, I agree that this tourney was run very poorly. Supposedly they declined Big E and others help because they were sour about giving anybody else credit for helping which is lame. It wasn’t even about the credit they just wanted to help get the tourney done asap.

The qualifier was a bad idea too. Like i told Justin he should just pick a team himself before Evo because single elim isn’t really an accurate way to determine anything and he can change his mind at any point just like he added Arturo (not that he doesn’t deserve it because he totally does) and made Joe play which FYI i mentioned to Arturo before this that he deserved to be on the team because he traveled and repped the most.

My boy Weaksauce got disqualified because he was literally 1 second late as he heard his name being DQed walking right thru the doors. So did my friend gqong and he was sitting with me the whole time and we never heard his name. Lets not forget DSP which was even doing the community a favor recording matches from various games, that one obviously cause of hate.

I agree with what Sabin said about the projector. It might feel odd to some players too as i had to adjust to it the first time i played on it. Also If someone offers to bring in monitors… which is fine, the tourney organizers really have a responsibility to make sure they don’t lag. I played on one and i couldn’t combo and time anything properly in my matches… yes even more than usual and even Joe agreed with me on the lag.

He “beasted” on my Sagat just like tester Ryu “beasted” your Rog.

I modded his TE stick for 360/ps3/ps2 like two months ago. I don’t know what Eric keeps doing to his stick but the ps2 just won’t keep working. That shit survived the US Postal Service and worked 100% when he got it, but when he got to NJ the ps2 just wasn’t working.

His stick is in my apartment now and I’m going to fix it tomorrow. Since he didn’t have his own stick available I guess he dropped out so he wouldn’t have to beg for one to play on.

Now I just have to figure out how to make that shit Eric Kim proof. I have a few ideas, but most of them involve never letting him touch the stick again. Obviously that isn’t possible so I’ll have to work around that limitation.
