EA Sports UFC includes playable Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey ^_^ Realistic fights > arcadey fights

[img]Yes!! I like fighting simulators better than more Street Fighter/VF clones. The genre is already too oversaturated with arcade fighters.
The industry and genre needs more realistic fighting games.

Ah yes and this videogame will be 100000x better quality than Supremacy MMA
(Kung Fu Factory is a joke, and dumb taking the arcade fighter route. The only one that can potentially rival Yukes with MMA fighting games is EA. )

Yeah, looking at the genre, most fighting games have been spamming a really immature direction, the genre needs more realism in fights, not just graphically.

The best fighting systems shouldn’t be about rollercoaster dial a combos, circus juggles, fireballs and crouch footsies.
A single good hit could end a fight right then and there.

Yes, because realistic MMA and Boxing games have ALWAYS been at the forefront of major tournaments and the competitive fighting game scene.

Trying to make a realistic fighting game is as stupid as calling football videogames “football/soccer simulators”. One just can’t emulate a complex activity that demands conditioning and whole body-eye coordination with a mere gamepad, specially the crappy ones Sony and Microsoft market. I can see the point about dialing combos, but the new audience likes them and game companies will cater to them. Even platformers and shooters have “combos”, now.

enjoy button mashing with your bros to this turd

Wait UFC is still around? I thought Dana was busy killing off the franchise like that guy with the crazy hair did to Boxing by making EVERYTHING Pay per view. I dont wannt pay $50 to watch a few hours event where there could be potential one hitter quitters. If I wanted that Ill watch some Knockout compilation on youtube from like 2006 or something

It’s actually the “fastest growing sport” or something with UFC leading the charge. But why do you even pay with the internet available? Dafack?

This is a really good way to instigate a fight on SRK. All those passive aggressive words and implications

affinity wants the FGC to be more about games like this so that everyone will jump at the chance to play FIGHTING VIPERS

Whatever, man! I’ve watched professional MMA fights before and at the beginning of the round they’re always whiffing jabs to build meter.

Except Dana’s made it a point to NOT make everything Pay Per View. Hence his deal with FOX.

I do wonder why MMA and wrestling games dont have some tournaments out there. Theres virtual pro wrestling federations though. But I think with the MMA games, those players know theres no point in making it a huge deal to play them when they could devote their time to actually training and working out. With pro wrestling you have to go to shady people or others who are good but struggling in order to learn if you dont find a way the less than handful of stable organizations out there. But with the pro wrestling games youre recreating matches or youre doing a bunch of BS looking negative 5 star botch fests that would kill EVO if they had a stream for them. I guess I answered my own question.

Fighting in an affinity thread. Business as usuall I see.

A realistic fight, I hope!

When did that happen? I remember watching like all the current shit on spike and then all of a sudden it disappeared and i saw nothiing but UFC PPV commercials. It fell off my radar after that and i havent really given a shit since

A year ago. You have Bellator on there now though.

This seems like a perfect game for MLG.

What OrochiDemon said.

Their deal with Spike ran out, and FOX had dat FOX Money.

They actually do put relevant fights on FOX for free.

There are certain things a video-game is never going to be able to emulate.

The fear of another human-being when he wants to fistfight you is one of them. One of the things that is never, ever going to transfer over to a game is the adrenalin rush of being in a fight, that feeling that unless you defend yourself, you are going to get seriously hurt. The ability to keep your head in the game and not get your nosed punched in when you are tired and you have some guy throwing fists at your face is not something that you can transfer over to a swivel stick.

A realistic fighting game is kinda pointless. Fighting is about emotions, fear and human interaction as much as it is about training and skill (which is extremely important.)

If I want to see realistic fighting, I go to the most dive-eist bar I can find and start punching people’s face, In the face)

which is a toss up between Fist of the North Star or My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

If I want to play a Fighting Game… (wait for it, INHALES) … I play Street Fighter, Blazblue, Skullgirls, Arcana Heart, Cyberbots, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, Vanguard Princess, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Waku Waku 7 , Jump Super Stars, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, Papers Please, Ballz, Eternal Champions, King of Fighters, Fighting is Magic, Power Stones, Melty Blood, Guilty gear, Injustice, Sonic the Fighters, Gundam: Battle Assault, Killer Instinct (not the Xbone version), Dive Kick, Punch-Out, Kung Fu on the NES and The Karateka on the Apple II

Karateka Apple II version

This is long before I ever touch any UFC, WWE* or Def Jam game Garbage.

*Note: Old School WWF is okay

And do not get me started on anything made by EA.

Opinions are opinions. I’ve played some of the UFC games and they were ok. In fact, me and my friends quite enjoyed them. But there’s not much depth, and they’re hardly “realistic”. Mashing X as a simulation for escaping a choke hold is about as realistic as my hand being a simulation for Jessica Alba.
