If that’s real, then WHAT THE FUCK? Music in Mortal Kombat is like Acid Reflux in a fat man; you know it’s there, but you don’t really pay it any mind unless it kicks hard. I mean, I don’t care as much for VGM as I used to, but a great soundtrack is a cherry on top of a good game. Like MK11. Mortal Kombat 11 nails everything BUT the music (for the most part). A Mick Gordon soundtrack would have elevated that game to a new plane. It isn’t like Mick only does rock shit either. The Killer Instinct soundtrack (he did Seasons 1 and 2 of that before DOOM) has a variety of sounds to it.

But this was a few years ago; I hope the team comes to their senses if they meet with him again.

Looks like this year’s Sqenix showcase was heavily carried by the FF7 Remake. Pretty much most what they showed after that until Avengers wasn’t that interesting. Oh and I guess they finally remembered FF8 exists and are doing a remaster of it. What the fuck took them so long that they even skipped from 7 to 9?

Anyway the Remake looks fantastic, Tifa got covered up a bit and got her tits nerfed (thanks Sony), but at least she’s wearing thigh highs now so…win-win, kinda? Two blu-ray discs for Midgar alone sounds insane, just how big and how much of the city are they including here? It better have enough content to satisfy the masses waiting for…well, the rest of the story. I was hoping Part 1 would end at least in Kalm or maybe even the City of the Ancients, but guess that’s saved for Part 2…whenever the hell hat happens

KH3 DLC trailer was shown prior, Battalion 1944 trailer didn’t seem to show anything new, FF soundtracks on music streaming services were also old news, the DQXI S trailer didn’t show anything remotely interesting (we already knew about the 8-bit thing and orchestral soundtrack)

That new Brave Exvius-related title seemed cool at least. It’s basically FF Tactics as opposed to Exvius’ classic FF combat. The trailer game an impression they’re just copying Fire Emblem’s story for War of the Visions, isn’t that like same exact premise? With several kingdoms and all?

Circuit Superstars is super cute! I think we need more racing games like that on the market, really cool Square Enix are funding what is basically a 3-man team from Mexico of all places, how often do you hear about indie projects from that country?

Closing out the show with Avengers was the right call. Super wack that main cast is basically Uncharted characters (Baker, Bailey, North). Seriously these three are everywhere nowadays. Disappointed it’s going to be a Live Service game, that doesn’t sound like good news at all (hey look at us, no lootboxes or pay to win shit, yay! Clap us! Fuck off). Gameplay didn’t give a good enough indication of how the thing actually plays

Because the source code for VIII was apparently lost for years (getting rid of old code was not an uncommon practice back in the day). So either someone found a backup, or they reverse engineered one of the existing ports.

EDIT:
Here’s a Twitter thread on how Square used to abandon their code.

But it was on Steam for ages, and the “remasters” they made for 7 and 9 for consoles are both literally just ports of the PC version

Steam version is basically the old PC version with code stolen from modders.

Most Japanese companies don’t really have much of a problem taking code that others have taken from them back and selling it again, if the demand and usually the quality are there.

Especially if that code was to break, crack or mod something of theirs in the first place.

Thats why every modern Port of FF7 we saw is a port of the Windows 95 version and not the PS1 version.
The PS1 version only seen as a PSP/PS3 release as as we know Square and Sony just downloaded the ISO files like everyone else and wrote their own Emulator (or rather they just stole code from Bleem).

You know there alot of Jpeg compression artifacts that wasn’t there in the actual game

I’m hoping it’s just a quick trailer and not much else

Yo they need to redo NnK collector’s editions. I want that drippy plush still. Back when it first released on ps3, they sold more than they had so the people who didn’t get the collector’s edition just got compensated with the hardcover guide. I still got my copy unopened.

IGN and Easy Allies are streaming at the moment

IGN is talking mostly about the previous year’s e3 direct

That NNK remaster Trailer makes me so happy. I hate using the word “nostalgia” for a game that isn’t even that old. But man…it just makes me feel good when I think about what an amazing journey that game took me on.
