It’s interesting that Koei had to cut that scenario, seeing as how there was Shadow of Hokuto Shin-Ken in one of the hnk fighters, who was basically an evil Hokuto Ryuuken version of Kenshiro

Demo out today. Motorcycle controls like shit. Use air-to-ground pound moves(Y button on 360) to get fight in the club on Jagi’s stage. Need OST.

Feels slow as hell. Like attacks don’t flow. Every attacks feels like it has massive startup. DW doesn’t feel like this. Also the game/demo only tells you how to play using Rei. Not Kenshiro. Guess who I picked first? Fighting Jagi was pretty damn boring as well.

It feels real sluggish at first, but when you get skill points to upgrade your character enough, it becomes an afterthought. Rei is the fastest character in the game imo, especially after the the ground and air attacks and evade tactic. are fully upgraded.

Some folks were saying this game felt more like a Double Dragon-type beat 'em up rather than the usual DW fare. Kinda agree with that sentiment. Fewer enemies, map is more linear & segmented, you can actually grab opponents as well as pickup weapons, etc.

Demo didn’t really hook me though. For that kind of gameplay, I had more fun with Yakuza’s battle system shrug

They can add in alot of characters. Nanto Goshashei and some of the guys from Raohs army

I feel like the game represents Hokuto No Ken quite well. It’s not a DW game. DW is this game’s template nothing more. The combat engine is fairly deep. You can jump cancel and R1 cancel stuff. Some infinites here and there and cool juggles. Good ways to deal with groups and blocking enemies. Rei has alot of cool shit he can do. I’m thinking He is gonna be tops just like in the Hnk PS2 fighter lolol.

Souther’s illusionary mode, especially the final chapter will change your mind about that. The boss mode is nothing but this.

Until I started using the R1 button/bumper? The Kenshiro fight did feel pretty slow, but once I started using that the game was alot faster. It’s funny I use to give my friend shit for playing these games, but slap an HNK theme on it and it’s a done deal for me. I’ll be playing this for awhile once I get it.

I thought the same thing. When you attack, the startup takes for ever. Then if you wanna move AFTER you attack it takes forever. Overall it wasn’t anything spectacular and I love the DW games. I’m not sure if I’ll end up getting it.

Don’t judge the game by the demo guys.
I agree that there was some sluggishness but I think it’ll either be reduced in the full game or non existent. I’ll prob. get used to it tho.
