Except that you’d get more damage punishing backdashes with U2 than punishing backdashes with partial U1. True that it might act as a safety net but you will probably be getting partial U1 most of the time now on backdash punishes rather than the full 500 damage you really want from picking U1 in the first place.

The funny thing is if you had picked U2 or OS’d U1, that wouldn’t have happened. Use U1 to punish things, not for backdashes. If that’s the only thing you’re using it for, you might as well give up 60 damage to have an Ultra that will never whiff when it isn’t supposed to when try to catch a backdash and can be used in combos for good damage.
Jesus Christ i realized that nearly all of Dudley Matchsup are not in his favor,I ran into so many geifs rose guiles abd i won only a few matches

i was already using U2 to punish rush punches on reaction and OS mgb to catch backdashes. honestly, i just hated that guy’s guts and wanted to style on him and the biggest “fuck you” i could think of was blowing up his backdash with U1 cause he would go to it every time i shut down all his other options. i noticed every time he did it but would let it slide most of the time cause i wanted him to keep doing it. and i normally do non OS’d u1 when i’m confident in my read. it works even against rog but this time it just didn’t. i already know why it didn’t but with 2012, at least if i mess up, i’ll always have the 225 as a consolation prize.
This is why I feel like there is very little reason to have an alternate character if you play Dudley. You will just be switching out against the majority of the cast to avoid the feeling of losing to a counter pick. You have to dig deep and find very subtle spacing to improve match ups like Guile.
Don’t worry guys, Dan and Hakan (maybe) are still in our favor in 2012!
I feel the need to style on people that are annoying.
b.mp > s.hp xx lk slash xx FADC, b.mp, b.mp > s.hp xx hp Shoryuken does about 430 damage. Oni gets really good mileage out of two meter but I’m not a fan of his mix-ups [when the other person knows what they are, they’re actually very weak], and his range is a bit clipped poke wise.
They ain’t weaker than Dudley’s that’s for sure.
Hakan already has the edge in the match-up the first 30 seconds into the match.

non oiled hakan v dudley is like 7-3 in dud’s favor
oil’d hakan v dudley is like 6-4 in hakan’s favor.
in 2012 hakan starts the match with oil so out the gate it’s a bad MU. at least dud can full screen punish oil ups.
I personally want Dudley to be buffed but im afraid that EVERYone would pick him up and i dont want that
Don’t worry, the only way everyone picks Dudley is if he gets top 3 at EVO. Even with buffs he will never be an easy mode character. The problem is we are not only having to out-think our opponents and take risks for getting in, but we also don’t get enough rewards for doing it. With buffs we get the rewards, but the first two parts, which are what actually make you a good Dudley player, are not guaranteed.
I just wish Dudley was as good as his 3s self

The masses play good characters, if they’re not using them they’re either Akuma/Viper hard to use or not good.
LOL let everyone use him, not many people will like how hard it will be to get in the half circles and the combos. People will just main a better character that’s on par with dudley or just as viable or have an adv over him so they won’t have to deal with him.

Also i’d probably dominate the midwest scene if dudley were to become high tier/top tier
