Well at least we know what Capcom is watching to balance Dudley since no one uses him any where else.
You know what I mean man. You can tell he’s at least an okay player (good execution and examples good forward fierce spacing etc.) but for some reason he was being random in that video.
Now that his st.HK is +7 on ch, will it still be 0 on block?
they’ve only changed the counter hit property, so yes.
Are we gentlemen or not? We could organize some changes Dudley really needs, and post in every important part of the web. You know we are capable of doing this… i mean, what do we have to lost, since we are losing already? Let’s organize, think and make people listen!
so in the spirit of optimism…
nj.lp hitbox buff and extended active frames- useful for meeting flying barcelona and maybe bison’s headstomp.
nj.hp start up & hitbox buff and extended active frames- this one might be a lot more useful than you guys think. in it’s current form, nj.hp can hit gief out of lariat clean if you time it right. faster start up and more active frames should make it a lot easier to get the timing right. also should now be easier to combat flying barcelona and headstomp
j.lp, j.mp extended active frames- more useful as air to airs; especially vs air throw characters.
lv1 FA forward -3- maybe it was -4 before and the calculations were just wrong. -3 is a lot harder to punish than -4 so if we can catch someone off guard it’s a free in.
m/h SSB smaller lower hurt box, bigger hitbox for hitting crouchers- SSB in footsies? idk, honestly, not applying these buffs to all 4 versions of the move was completely unnecessary. given the start up and recovery they’re still not worth using outside of srk bait. hopefully they made a few stealth buffs like they did with EX SSB in AE
TB all versions lock in vs airborne opponents and gives UTKD on hit- no more getting reverse trolled by the game?
->ex version doesn’t flash on the way up- hm seeing as the EX version always hits in front, maybe it could trick people into blocking cross up? gimmicky move is still gimmicky.
victory rose FADC-i could see this being the most useful vs rose and dhalsim. it’s almost like a free in.
U1 hitting aerial opponents for non-cinematic animation- this is looking to be a double edged sword. on 1 hand, just incase you mess up the timing, you’ll still get SOMETHING for comboing off a focus crumple instead of having it whiff and the recover before you and punish. also it’ll catch back dashes a whole lot easier. on the other hand, non-cinematic damage is only 225 with full ultra. it’s still unknown if there’s a damage redistribution like other non-cinematic ultras or if dud can now juggle with U1. so we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out.
Lvl 1 Focus dash on block is -3 now. Reversal EX Jet Upper doesnt hit. cr.LP does. Check things yourself in Training Mode.
nj.FP change sounds okay. It might be a decent AA, like Vega’s nj.RH, which is only 1 frame faster, but really… is AA something that Dudley needs help with? Outside of online play, where jumping might legitimately be considered a problem? No.
I’m waiting on that lvl 1 FA change to be solidified. It could be a decent change if it is in fact -2 on block. Would be cool if it gave us some frame advantage to play with on hit though.
Honestly, Dudley is a lot gimmickier than Viper and El Fuerte. The problem though is that he can’t even get in as free as those characters; and those characters don’t even get in for free all that well. What’s even worse for him is that the people who are tops in AE all have better normals than him and safer pressure. So there’s no reasonable way to counter-poke Fei or deal with Yun’s insanely safe offense.
Really though this series those suck ass.
more gimmicky than viper and elf? surely, you jest!
Dudley is gimmicky? What the fuck?
Dudley is free on wake up, can’t really play footsies all that well, can get zoned out fairly well and his defense is ok. One thing about El Fuerte and Viper is that they have really fucked up mixups; if the Fuerte player knows how to work his run game up close, his mixup is far more confusing than Duds. Dudley’s mixup is forced into a high low situation in a game with really shitty option selects on defense and a really big reversal window ruin a lot of his intimidation factor. The problem though is that the less they go about fixing the issues he really has, the more meaning less his mixup is. Seriously right now Fei Long is running a good chunk of what Dudley’s plan should be and he can do it better because he has better pokes, a fast overhead that makes him move forward and hope over shit and oh yeah, damn chicken wing just giving him and easy in and an easy out.
If Dudley’s gimmick was as good as other people’s, he would be somewhere; but unfortunately his high low is nowhere near as good as dealing with Viper’s or Fuerte’s L/R. Don’t get me wrong, I love playing Dudley but every time in the back of my mind I know that this homie has some serious issues. Cody is better at pushing buttons than Dudley is: and that is very sad.
fei’s overhead faster than dud’s?
move along folks. nothing to see here.
he didn’t say fei’s was faster than dud’s.
and i agree with what most of pertho said except the “gimmicky” part. dudley is just bad.
so bad.
Apparently Japan currently sees Dudley as bottom 5 in the game? According to a tier list posted in another thread. If that’s true, I’d love to see what they think of him come 2012 when pretty much everyone else gets buffed.

• Standing Roundhouse counterhit is now +7
**• Air Jab can now cross up

What if Dudley’s improved jumping normals can stuff normal anti-airs like Cody/Ibuki b.MP?
you get your neutral jumps anti air’d?
and diagonal jLP jMP hit straight not down
jumping is bad anyway
