The only thing I can tell you is that you have to be fast with inputting the command for SSB. The moment you press HK, you should be buffering the SSB. Using the command shortcut (:db::d::df::r:) helps. I had trouble with this trial too.
I think you got your commands mixed up. SSB is HCB, so my only assumption is that the short cut for it will be :df::d::db::l:.
How do i buffer into it though without performing a f.hk instead of a simple st. hk? This seems to be my problem.
edit I’m able to pull this off with a controller, however my problem lies in executing it with the stick. This is strange to me because every other one i can pull off almost flawlessly with the joystick. =/
My apologies for being such a scrub, but how do do the inputs for OS Ultra? My OS skill is pretty weak and I cant seem to pull this damn thing off.
I have stumbled across a little trick with one of the target combos.
cr.lk->mp->hp
walk up/duck in and hold df, tap cr lk, then tap mp+hp (yes both buttons at the same time) twice, the target combo comes out every time. (not bad damage!)
Poking with st jabs?
you can poke away, and if one hits chain another jab then tap mp, maximize those pokes! (easy 3 hit)
fwd mk X 2 to hp is easy and so so dmg, I dont use this one that much though.
I havent found much use for most of the other target combos, cr mp/st mp are best linked into MGU, and his overhead is much better served with the same kind of treatment, same deal for jump ins.
Anyone find any decent uses for his other target combos?
Whoops, my mistake on the command.
Go to training mode and check your input when you try st. HK > SSB.
It’s kinda hard, you have to hit hk at neutral and then quickly do the hcb motion. There’s no real trick to it.
Let’s say you’re doing f.mk OS ultra. Just hit f.mk and immediately and quickly do the ultra command. If it whiffs you should get the ultra and if it gets blocked or hits them you shouldn’t get anything. To practice, record yourself doing the OS and see if it comes out only when the f.mk whiffs.
The reason this works is that when you connect with a move there’s additional lag on it that it doesn’t have when it whiffs.
Anyone having trouble with the trials for dudley? I’m new to street fighter (kinda, the last SF I played was sf2 on snes). I got up to trial level 18 and am having trouble with 19-21. I swear I’m doing the moves correctly but either nothing happens or dan blocks cuz I’m too slow. I can’t do HK > MGB or HK > HCB+LK… and trial 20 is like LP > LP >cr. MP > something. But I can’t get from the second LP to cr. LK, maybe that sounds retarded to some of you guys but either I’m too slow at it or I end up doing a standing MP even though I pressed down before pressing MP!! I just don’t get it… any advice on cancelling HK to HCB/HCF moves or trial 20? I have no problem doing half circle moves when not comboing, I just can’t do it in these combos on the trials…
Is it possible to do 2 sweeps after an ex-MGB in the corner?
Yes, it is.
whats dudleys best counter versus counter fireball? from afar to get close
You can either jump the fireballs from far away or go underneath them with Ducking, his command dash (:hcf::k:). Ducking is very useful for punishing fireballs up close too.
Dudley’s first ultra, Rolling Thunder, can punish fireballs from mid-screen or closer.
I just want to add that Ducking > Ultra 2 works too if you prefer that ultra.
Correct me if im wrong but I dont think this is doable on reaction, only if you predict a fireball.
Imo U1 serves his purpose very well, when you have it fireballs are gone and you can get in easily. Also it punishes shotos sweep and some of their whiffed pokes so its even better. If you use U2 you are taking risks when you duck in.
Hello guys , so i am a complete scrub , although i played rose in vanilla , i decided to switch to duds (love the char in 3s).
And it seems I completely fail at making the change from 3s to ssf4 (wasn’t that good on 3s , but i still could manage to win some few matchs on ggpo).
I am just lost , literally , have you got any tips on how to progess with duds in order to fail less against (for exemple) flowchrts ken :x
Thanks
Learn to anti-air (s.mk), punish fireballs with Ultra 1/ducking, and poke with s.hk, s.hp, and f+mp. That should let you beat a lot of scrubs.
Brand new Dudley player here, been playing him since last night. Got a few vids to share just for some crit, looking to improve my game… dont be too harsh i mean ive been playing him for less that a day

Like i say, just looking to improve my game, i know ive got a LONG way to go though with it
ta guys
This is the wrong thread, here is the video thread. But here’s a couple tips:
[]Learn cr.lp xx cr.lp -> s.hk xx EX Machinegun Blow combos. This is huge. When you hit them with a jab you can make it hurt, a lot.
[]Anti-air with s.mk. This is important, when people jump at you it’s free damage for you.
[]Don’t throw out EX MGB unless you’re comboing into it. It’s punishable. It might seem like a good idea because it leads to nice damage, but it’s not worth the risk. lp MGB is safe on block against most characters, so that one is okay to do. The target combo -> lp MGB you do is a nice easy combo to get you started.
[]Don’t do Cross Counter unless they’re in the air. It’s fun when it works but usually it won’t work on a grounded opponent.
[]Dudley’s Jet Upper has almost no priority unless you EX it. So if you want to do a reversal you should always try EX Jet Upper. Of course it’s wildly unsafe if they block.
[]Good job ducking through fireballs.
[]It’s good that you know how to block and keep your opponent out with crouching jabs, but you need to be willing to walk forwards too. Dudley has nice offensive pokes like s.hp and s.hk. Your buttons are good. You should use them.
[]For the corner sweep combos you don’t need to walk forwards at all.

When your opponent does a reversal and you don’t get hit you need to punish him for doing it. At least always get a s.hp in (you were pretty good about this). A better combo is s.hk xx EX MGB -> ducking upper. Or you can just ultra them too.
Thanks for the tips! Will get these into practice. Yeah iwas gonna put these in the video thread but it seemed like there wasnt a great deal of posts in there and not a lot of them were beginner ones, but yeah apologies will put them in there in future. Anyway thanks again for the tips.
Does Dudley have any wakeup games? I play Abel and really mix things up on wakeup but can’t think of any with Didley, perhapes MGB but DP beats that
I assume you are talking about the opponent getting up, while Dudley is presuring them, in which case Dudley has one of the best wakeup game in the game.Amazing low/high/throw mixups, because he is the only character in the game who can easily/relaibly combo after his overhead into BIG damage, which is also the fastest overhead in the game, so crouch blocking doesn’t mean squat to him, unlike other characters( cammy),so it’s no a 50/50, more like a 33/33/33 and if you guess corectly , you should be able to get a knockdown and restarding the mixup game.
His main weakness is getting in and being pressured himself, having no other true reversal except EX DP (and maybe ultra?).But when he gets in he is one of the best characters in the game. Then you push him out and becomes mid:))
