Has anyone been able to incorporate cr. MK into foostie war? I know its pretty bad but was wondering if any dudley’s found any situations where it is useful such as catching ryu’s whiffed cr. roundhouses.
After they get scared of eating overhead during block strings.
Why not just do cr.hk?
I was just talking bout footsie war, not during offensive pressure cuz if i wanted to sneak a low attack during blockstrings, cr. LK and cr. HK have more benefits (combo-ablilty) than cr. MK (untechable knockdown). If I can get an untechable knockdown during footsie war other than throwing, then that would help a shit load to start oki game, especially against poke-heavy characters.
I use cr.mk to catch shoto cr.mk but it’s just a guess and not really on reaction. Riskier than f.mp but more reward.
It’s faster.
You’re right its faster but if you know you’ll land an unsuspecting low attack, startup speed is irrelevant cuz of mindgames, cr. Lk and cr. HK are better choses
The only way I know it will land is if I’m playing the training mode dummy.
Let’s say I do f. MK cr. LP
cr.LK cr.LP and then the s.HK might whiff because of spacing
cr. LK MK Target Combo would work but I hardly ever use this so it’s irrelevant to me
cr. HK is slow and my opponent might notice it and block it
If your opponent is noticing you’ll do low, then your mindgames and mixups aren’t as effective. You have to read to your opponent to know if they respecting your blockstrings by not pressing buttons and see which block they using more, crouching or standing, then sneak those overheads and low attacks accordingly. If not by pressing buttons, frametrap them. You can just link cr. LK to st. HK when you know you’ll land the cr. LK. Switching up the blockstrings and framtraps will mindfuck them cuz of all the moves they are seeing will make it hard to read your patterns. Watch those sako dudley videos, he abused that shit and it worked.
Whenever I play any dudley I just mash throw lol
You’re splitting hairs now. You asked about incorporating crMK, I gave you an example of when I do crMK.
When you’re going high and low, you’re guessing how they will block and they are guessing if you’re going high or low with your attack. It’s all an educated guess. I can do overhead all game and plan to use crLK near the end to finish the game but he can still block low when I go for crLK.
The only time you absolutely know a move will land if after a crumple, after a stun, after they do something punishable. If I KNOW something will hit, I am definitely going for something that hits harder than crLK or overhead.
I play against a few people regularly who blocked standing then crouched in time to block a crHK in a block string. And then there’s people who hate sitting in block strings and mash crLK or crLP and I get hit out of crHK before it gets active.
I agree with Mr.X. Also, it is easy to say that all you have to do is something like frame trap, but in practice it is never that easy since people play differently and some are knowledgeable about the match-up.
I was asking only about cr. MK in footsies, so I was addressing your offensive application of it. You got a point Mr. X but IMO SF is about taking risk and adapting, finding which risk that are worth taking then go for it and adapt to how they react. But thats just how I play.
Nice peru LOL
Shit works too.
f.mk, throw
c.lp, throw
jump, throw
Have a sip of beer, throw
Miss a jet upper, throw
throw, then throw.
im trying to OS against backdash mashers. but it seems all OSs involve doing a meaty move on their wakeup. are there any OSs from a neutral situation? like say after a blocked crouching jab for backdash mashers during dudley presure.
Dealing with kens kara throw, at max range for his kara, can you OS a poke from a crouch tech? If so, which OS is best? can’t test right now cuz xbox broke.
During chained cr.lp’s do :d::lp:~:hk:/:mk:~:lp:. Either you get two chained jabs or the first jab whiffs and the cr.hk/cr.mk comes out. It takes practice. I would assume it can also be done with most of Dudley’s target combos - I OS backdashes with cr.lk xx s.mk target combo. My inputs are :lk: :mk: :mk:. I doubletap mk just to make sure I get the cr.mk on whiff.
Why not just backdash/delayed tech?
What do you mean by “can you OS a poke from a crouch tech?” Of course you can. cr.mk would be the best candidate. But if he does a tight string with say s.lp -> cr.mk you’re going to get counter-hit. Or if he walks backwards slightly and does f.mk to punish your whiff. There’s no magical way to get out of Ken/Vega/Gen pressure. It’s good, just play good defense.
jake here…
did dudley knock me out of the air with a rose… from a taunt even?
Liverblow OS still works granted than you don’t get mashed out of it.
