i call bullshit on the sagat mu, that’s in our favor not sagats.
sagat vs dud is 5-5. y’all must be smokin if you think it’s in dud’s favor. ren, go play emblem lord and come back and tell me that MU is in dud’s favor.
anyways seth vs dudley is 5-5. AT MOST 5.5 in seth’s favor. believe it or not. dud has better pokes than seth. seth can’t jump in on dud for free, he can’t zone dud for free. and dud shits on him in damage. if you keep seth playing footsies and punish him properly he can’t really find a solid opening. he can’t start doing his bullshit until he actually catches you with a knockdown or tanden engine.
and that japanese tier list is absolute bullshit.
When you play a genuine top Seth player you will realise all the careful footsies and anti airing and jump back fierces vs his off the wall shit are for naught when you get knocked down and have to straight up guess on top of guesses. It’s fucking ridiculous.
ok when you’re knocked down, seth can blow you up. that’s his character. but when you’re both standing, that knockdown isn’t free. and if they’re just guessing then you can just out guess them. only thing i’m worried about when fighting seth is getting option selected.
Gief/Dudley is 7-3. I’ve play flash once a week and he agrees.
lol, emblemlord is on my friends list we play the mu like all the time… also I play one of the top vegas, i say it’s 55-45 vega favor or more.
After playing emblemlord i’d like to say dudley vs sagat is in dudleys favor.
i’m curious as to why you think it’s in dud’s favor. there’s aspects of the match up where either character just sorta dominates the other so as far as i can see, it’s even.
Sagat is one of the only match ups that I think Dudley has an advantage in. I am not sure I’d say it is 6-4, but definitely 5.5/4.5 for Dudley. Sagat can’t zone effectively with fireballs, and he needs to be cautious in footsies due to how vulnerable he is to Dudley’s counter poke game. Buffered RH is very strong in this match up, but so is max range cr. MK. So he has to rely more on Tiger knee mixups in his ground game which can get beat by FP when spaced wrong. This is basically a match up of Dudley hitting a lot of invisible hitboxes from max range.
I would hesitate to call it 6-4 though because Sagat still has a good normals, reversals and high damage for comeback potential.
I don’t know how you can acknowledge that Seth rapes you after getting a knockdown and go about business like you don’t get knocked down. I have to agree with Logan on what he says about Seth. The only thing that keeps the match winnable is that Seth dies very quickly. Once he knocks you down or gets you in the corner with a situation to reset, you are in tons of trouble if you don’t have 3 bars.
seth is the only character i love using shortswing blow against.
That’s actually smart and not something I would think of because I am stubborn and don’t open up to using moves once I think they are bad.
I don’t even try to ex jet upper against Seth on wake up since his regular DP beats Dud’s ex jet upper.
EX SSB is an amazing tool against Seth after you get a knockdown. It can dodge uppercuts, bait command grabs, and punish backdashes and backwards teleports. Depending on spacing, however, dodging an uppercut can lead to you getting punished afterward. But it is one of the only moves that can cover so many bases while also being safe on block against Seth. Overuse it against a smart Seth though, and they just jab you out of it when you reel back in, or worse =/
As for not getting knocked down, that is definitely tough. There is a sweet spot in this match up though. Always look to stay around max distance of j. HK. From that range, on reaction, you can: Duck through booms and punish, block his FP/ jump in on it (focusing is bait for tandem), or jump in on Tandem engine when you see his color start to change. If you only move when you see booms or tandem start to change his color, there really is not much else Seth can do to you from that range. If you block a FP and get pushed back, you can simply wait for a fullscreen boom and jump/duck back into the sweet spot safely. If you do get knocked down, you best have a good read on your opponent, because any number of things can happen. But I am sure we all are familiar with that by now.
IMO, It is a tough match, but nowhere near his worst. It sure can feel like it due to the way Seth can make any character look like a training dummy when he is on a hot streak.
I never threw it out because I never realized that Seth’s SPD wasn’t 2-frame startup. Eyes have been opened.
Edit: Is it safe on block because Seth gets pushed too far away to do anything? EX Backswing Blow is -5 on block according to the wikipedia.
That’s strange. EX SSB was listed at -2 before unless I have lost my mind. I see that it is listed as -5 now, but I block uppercuts after it all the time. I also get a ton of Seth practice. I started using it to avoid being command grabbed on block. so either that info is wrong, or people are really bad at mashing reversals against me.
Now I’m gonna have to go check this.
- tested in training mode. set dudley to record an EX swing blow and then jump, and then swing blow and then block. I couldn’t command grab or uppercut him for each corresponding action.
The wiki is still on Super unless you click for Super AE frame data

EX SSB is -2. -5 in Super. It’s tremendously safe compared to super. Keep your eyes peeled. It’s a new era.
This Gat used St.hp vs Duds.
He knows the secrets. I fuckin approve.
These are 4kPP+ players? You have to be fucking kidding me.
Full screen Tiger Shots… well, they were actually working as none were being focused to build up the non-existent U1 meter, and I think only one or two were ducked under. Gaining 30-40% of U1 meter without losing any health tends to stop Sagats from throwing out Tiger Shots and forces a change of plan.
But yeah, I find this match up hard because without Tiger Shots I have nothing to duck under so have to find other ways in past those normals. You can try buffering MGB off of s.HK on reaction to f+LK or f+HK but you have to look out for Tiger Knees.
i’ve played sagat so much I can actually feel when they will go for tiger knee. Also after blocking EX tiger knee so much theres 3 options I end up doing after I block it
-
Tech their grab
-
LP uppercut to catch their grab
-
L. SSB to have their grab whiff or uppercut.
