i read somewhere the character design for dudley he isnt heavy weight like balrog is. his character design nationality is indian he’s a british citizen who has generations in england.

Don’t need the D input in between the diagonals? I think Fei’s command grab is the only HC motion that requires it to start from F rather than DF but I always get that stupid move instead of Flame Kick after a dash >.<
yeah there are more cliches and archetypes in SF than sterotypes. For stereotypes I say that Balrog, Dhalsim, Dudley, Dee Jay, E. Honda, T. Hawk, and Vega to an extent. Vega because it’s steroypically scene in movies that Spanish men wear tight clothing and are pretty boys that throw roses.
Dudley’s a pun off of British gentleman except that he beats people to a pulp and wears boxing gloves with his regular gloves. Actually, maybe I should remove him. T. Hawk because he’s Native American everyone always wonders why his country isn’t USA instead, maybe Capcom was confused?? Balrog because he’s a boxer and you know most boxers are black. Dee Jay, shouldn’t have to explain. E. Honda, same goes here. Dhalsim, well at one point and time I remember seeing Indian footage a lot of fire eaters and Indians invinted yoga too. Rufus has already been explained. El Fuerte is too easy and bothers me more than Balrog even though I’m black. I’m just thankful they didn’t give Balrog moves called Fried Chicken punch and Kool-Aid counter.

When I was a kid I always saw Guile as the frontman for Street Fighter. This impression was pretty much set because of how the game was marketed in the states. It’s a common practice for the publisher to change things around to appeal to it’s targeted market, so what better way to get kids to buy the game then to have the buff soldier with American flag tattoos shooting sonic booms at a evil dictator. Same thing basically happened with the western cartoon. Guile was the center of attention because they felt US kids would relate and like him alot more then Ryu and Ken. As i recall, Ken had a much bigger presence then Ryu in that show as well. Again, target market.
I think dudley is based on evander holyfield, hence it’s only natural for him to ahve a rivalry with balrog who represents tyson instead of being a real stereotype.
Sortof like how abel’s rival is feilong, and that doesn’t make sense at all in game until you realize feilong is bruce lee and abel was based on fedor, so why not have two fighters as rivals if so many of their fans say they are the best?

Every version besides the US version uses that box art. Only the US version have Guile on it.
