Dudley: A Distinguished Thread for Gentlemen Pugilists

all versions, watch the trailer

I think they have to put armor on it or make have priority like Gouken’s Reversal( like having the ability to cross counter pretty much anything)otherwise it would be kind of useless like it was in 3rd Strike IMO (why use it when you can simply Parry).

You just sumed my thoughts on SSFIV Dudley. Get past all the “how Dudley played in 3S” stuff…and this is what I’m interested in. This is SSFIV…not 3S.

From what I’ve seen, the EX’s don’t offer much a strength increase…but they look like they will be his combo setups and links from 3S…an excuse, to use EX’s.

Ultra 1: Rolling Thunder is Auto Combo…meaning if that punch to the opponents gut is not grounded, it won’t connect, similiar to Fei’s Ultra 1.
Ultra 2: Corkscrew Cross is his comboable Ultra. Looks auto Ultra as well…but still comboable, going Corkskrew Blow instead.

But…we have to wait for more info. Let’s hear what Dudley can “actually” do…not make up this crap about insane juggles from 3S.

that’s because Dudley is like like 10000x times more fun to play as and is one of the most creative characters when using your combos in your playbook that suits your style.

Cody & Guy… i just Sumo Headbutted them to mash patatos

How, exactly, will Dudley have “trouble closing the gap” when he can Focus, jump over, command dash through, or Thunderbolt over, said fireballs? He has moves that cross the screen and a fast walk speed to boot. Christ the only thing they didn’t give him to ignore zoning is a damn teleport.

plus if I remember correctly weren’t his duck upper and lowers still in. I believe that detail is dug into on the first page of this topic…

Something about that av… is nice

If I recall, logan-sama said meter wasn’t even important with dudley, like he’s perfectly capable of rushdown without meter.

Well, i went ahead and messed with the colors, and come up with this instead. This was the only fan art of dudley that i felt fit the whole “warhol” feel. Alot of the rest i find online are way too “rough” persay…Anyways, I haven’t incorporated the flag and that blur yet, but i’ll be back to collect my bonus points tomorrow…(if i have time). =)

Keep in mind this is rough…but have at it.

dude zombie’s avatar is mad sweet. I’m sure if Dudley himself were a member here he would weep of joy of how amazing he looks in it. Heck, he’d probably use it.

With all the talk about Dudley dealing with zoning I think 3S players might have forgotten that Dudley’s ducking upper/straight goes under fireballs. In a game like 3S with parrying most people didn’t use it for that purpose, but it did and I don’t think Capcom would make it lose to fireballs in SSF4.

Wasn’t the timing for ducking fireballs quite strict in 3S though?

No, actually it was similar to Gouken’s DP timing. You could get hit on startup or at the very end I’m pretty sure, but everything in between was clear. Not too hard to use.

Thanks, but again, the praise shouldn’t be directed at me. This is Kanta-Kun’s work. Send him the praise, he deserves it.

logan-Sama said it was really easy to use duck to get through fireballs, once you got the timing down.

The only fireball I ever had trouble ducking through was uriens, most likely because of its size and its speed. Shouldn’t have any problem with any of the fireballs in SSF4.

Was Dudley able to duck fireballs on reaction? I didn’t play him in 3s, so I am not sure. Or is it something you can do with anticipation. Do you believe that the duck would be easy to bait, and is it always a good idea to duckfireballs especially at point blank?

I ducked fireballs pretty easily when I was within striking range. If I was across the screen or in the air it was just better to parry. It’s really not hard at all if you have decent timing.

Yeah I agree. Ducking at close range is the best use for it, at mid far to far distance I liked the FA back dash or forward dash to build up the revenge meter. Seeing as how most Shoto’s can’t cover the entire distance super fast like El Fuerte or C. Viper it’s relatively safe, but up close that you are just begging for that grey dmg to become actual dmg. The duck there is nice cause it allows you to punish them, but at far range it’s more beneficial to FA them if you can safetly.

hey guys, i just wanted to pop in and say that i will be picking up duds as a secondary for ssf4 and will post from time to time on this thread. i wont drop guile as my main because i am a die hard guile player till death.(check out my GUILE http://www.youtube.com/user/Guilerules might make dudley one) i really want focus on the dud rog match(seperate thread?) up because i think duds will own but is he as strong without his parry? this will be THE battle for all boxer players. until then guys.
