Dudley: A Distinguished Thread for Gentlemen Pugilists

[quote=King9999;8486946 I’d say he’s… too…strong.[/quote]

Too funny! that is actually a Dudley quote from when he is defeated with a weak attack.

So yeah…I am currently maining Fei, but, God…it seems Capcom is giving him the shaft yet again. I used to think Dan was the joke character, but I bet Fei is Capcom’s inside joke. I like Fei, he is fun, but Dudley is looking pretty monstruous. I just saw that justin wong video and I am really really considering maining Dudley. I hate to say this, but Fei may be “down for the count”

You can combo standing Roundhouse after the f+Roundhouse and the f+Forward. Didn’t see that in JWong’s video. Standing Roundhouse is special cancellable.

Dudley’s normals are crazy fast and he has a fucking library of combos you’ll be finding out when the game build is finalised. Target combos won’t be getting used a lot though, his Jab is 2 frames and can be linked into cancellable normals.

You may have noticed in that video that a lot of the times the Ultra juggles did awful damage and not a lot of hits. This is because, unlike Metsu Hado, the timing is incredibly strict on landing maximum damage from juggles.

I think Gief is going to be a problem for a lot of the new cast…

Dudley looks so beastly. It’s actually pretty sick they’ve decided to give a character this many options.

Since I like Dudley, I’m fine with it, but… people will be complaining that the rest of the cast can’t seem to do all this stuff. I think all the alpha characters, all the new SF4 characters (Abel and gang + Juri/Hakan) and the 3s characters will all have options similar to this, but many of the old world warriors won’t have much to work with apart from good normals.

It does look like pretty much all of Dudley’s specials are unsafe on block, though (which is good). You’ll have to rely on good hit-confirming and meter to make stuff safe.

I’m really questioning why they took the crumple away from Dee Jay’s EX machine gun punch after watching that Jwong video.

LMAO at cr.jab x3, s.FP xx Super and his cr.LK cr.MK is cancelable into his specials and then straight into ultra.

Pretty much anything from that Justin Wong video is great. At least it looks like theres some timign involved getting the ultra to hit more than 2 times.

I think every…nvm. I noticed justin didnt do anything with st rh outside of a ex mgb combo. Any chance you can link that off jabs like fierce?

Let the Dudley bandwagon begin.

Probably because it was really fast, safe on block, comboable, and went through fireballs. There was nothing from stopping people from just throwing it out randomly and easily confirming into 60% damage. At least with Dudley you have to use meter or spacing to keep your stuff safe on block, and I doubt it’s going to just crush fireballs like Deejay’s move did AND combo into ultra midscreen. (Most of Dudley’s midscreen ultra combos are really unsafe if whiffed or blocked and can’t just be thrown out for no reason)

Dudley’s ultra looks like it does pretty respectable damage, even without the cinema. I’m hoping there is a good reason to use Rolling Thunder in some matchups, because that ultra is so awesome.

After watching that Justin Wong video, I was sold on Dudley… He has too many good stuff. Might still play Cody though.

@Infil: I’m guessing it’s the same reason people would use Chun’s Ultra I instead of Ultra II now. Well, mainly vs Ryu.

uragiri-mono~

Dudley does look good tho. Even retains his overhead confirm into super? That’s kinda funny, but cool.

Rolling Thunder will probably be dependent on who the other character is. Like above poster stated, if it goes through fireballs then it’ll be the choice against Ryu/Sagat.

Can you REALLY blame me? XD I WILL be playing Cody first, so don’t worry. (;

It’s hard to not have second thoughts after seeing everything Dudley can do, especially after UPPAHCUT to Ultra without FADCing. And then there’s all that corner combos he has. not to mention HCB+K, which might actually NOT get hit by dps…

This saddens me.

It’s coming, I can only imagine how many fools online are gonna pick him. Just the thought of playing a laggy dudley saddens me.

Oh those 2 bar connections…Hopefully we wont get TOO MUCH scrubby play out of him. I mean here we are having what is essentially a tutorial for him before the game is even out. if people are smart, they’d study it and be prepared to practice it as soon as it comes out. 3S vets won’t have too much trouble adapting to it also. However, i wonder why the other characters aren’t receiving the similar treatment from other well known players. Granted Killian explained things here and there, but even then he didn’t go as indepth as wong. Other times, we’d have someone explaining the moves, cancels, and what not while two people played who had trouble even pulling off a super.

Went off on a weird rant there…Regardless. I would also imagine that within that same online crowd, Rolling Thunder would be the ultra of choice. After seeing those set up’s for corkscrew, i’m sold.

Anybody expect Dudley to be toned down any as a result to all this “OP” nonsense people are spewing out?

Wow, Dudley looks completely amazing in that video. I was scared about him not having many special cancellable combos, but a nice (safe looking) target combo, plus link combos has alleviated that fear for me. And a full ultra combo, as well! He’s looking easy S-Tier material.

What’s wrong with bandwagoning? ):

Seeing as it’s the final build, I don’t think they’ll change Dudley… Maybe a future patch, but not until a good amount of time have passed.

dudley looks OP… seriously, he’s got so many options into Ultra… its mad… its crazy mad…
