Cheers for the kind comments I’m stoked your’e having so much fun with the series. And #30 is your favorite? I’m picking comics for my submission to the big syndicates at the moment and that one was off the list. Oh well, I’d better put it back in now.
Oh yeah, the archive is up on the Duckie website now:
As for the speech balloons, it’s been driving me nuts. I’ve just gotta learn how to use that fiddly pen tool in photoshop. At the moment I’m using the circle tool and the results are crap.
Cutting the text down and the no bubble options are good ones too. I’m glad you guys spotted it. Now it’s off to the net to find a pen tool tut.
:bgrin: Glad to be of any help. And it’s refreshing to find an strip artist who actually likes suggestions.
One thing I think you could do to ease your time with speech bubbles, is to trace them in illustrator or corel (whichever you’re more familiar with) and then just copy/paste them as you need them. Working with vectors make them very easy to modify and learning to use them is fairly easy, specially with CorelX3’s tips.
Also, don’t be afraid to toy around with the balloons, you can switch styles on the fly and still have them look cohesive. Today’s PVP strip show a good example of what I’m trying to say here: http://www.pvponline.com/images/2897.gif
This one is a bit more wild, and implementing these changes require experience so they don’t come off as carelessness: http://kevinandkell.com/2006/strips/kk20061019.gif
Given time you could build yourself a nice library of bubbles and other assorted objects to make production of the comic easier, but be careful not to overdo it, this might make you lazy and detract from the overall quality. Example: http://www.little-gamers.com/index.php?comicID=1407
And feel free to ignore me if none of this actually makes sense. :chat:
I’m not a afraid, just playing around. As an artist myself I enjoy hearing constructive critiques as well, makes me an even better artist.:pleased:
I actually though “GenRic” was apart of the design so I didn’t say anything about that. lol GenRic? sounds like a good brand name to me. lol:rofl: steals
I think it depends on where the comic comes from, because in Europe, I believe they use S for Z in other words and such as Colour instead of Color, Armour instead of Armor. etc. But I’m unsure about hypnotizing…
And to all Duckie fans sorry for the dealy with this weeks strip. I’m starting work on a few Sundays at the moment (Bigger format, full color) And will be posting them ASAP. My girlfriend needs the computer to finish an assignment but I’ll get the first Sunday strip posted at the beginning of next week.
Chrno’s right about the hypnotizing/hypnotising spelling issue. Since it passed my NZ spellchecker. But it’s good you guys hit me up about my spelling and grammar Cheers!
You hooked me up with the JoJo movies right? I do owe you a picture. PM me if you want a custom Duckie Drawing for a T-shirt or something. Ora,Ora,ORAAAA!!!
I like the new color! I hope you have a running gag about it that you mention, like his hat changing color every comic, that’d be funny, but just a suggestion. (and in a comic later he says "why does my hat change colors all the time) breaking the 4th wall, funny stuff! keep up the awesome work.
Sorry guys, This weeks Duckie is taking me ages alot of it have been spent on research for this weeks strip. It’s going to be another jumbo sized color job. I’m really wanting this last Sunday to be a showcase of Duckie’s potential since it’ll be the last thing the Syndacates see in my folder of work I’ll be sending them.
That and I’ve got a huge pavement art/street mural project I’m working on. But you’ll definitely see the finished Duckie at least by the middle of next week.
Here’s a little teaser to give you an idea of what kind of story it’ll be:
SFMC I’m going to try my luck with the syndacates first. I’m up to Duckie 39 now which is probably getting close to a good amount for a book. I’ve only planned 2 color ones for the time being. But more full color ones will pop up from time to time.
Chrno Cheers for the comments. Don’t worry Duckie will keep getting wierder and wierder.
white shadow It’s funny you mention that I just posted this over at SNK-Capcom:

I’ll be posting up some T-Shirt Designs this week (Fingers crossed) I’m kind of thinking I’ll use my favorite panels. If you guys have any ideas of how you’d like to see the Duckie cast in T-shirt form be sure to post your thoughts. I’m all ears
That’s awesome! I wanna see the shirt designs too, I’m pretty interested in them! I hope to see other animals other than duckie, ya know…just fan-response
lol, this is awesome! I like the new color ones a lot
Haha great stuff. Just a question, what sort of colours do you use for the colour versions? Do you use a CMYK pallette or just colour it anyway you want?
If you want any of these designs in hi-res to make your own t-shirts or posters etc PM me. And if you have any ideas or favorite moments from the series you wanna see in T-shirt form post em up
Very good stuff, CptMunta. If I had some extra cash, I’d definitely cop one of those shirts. Probably the last one, seeing as how it’d be funny to both those who have and haven’t read the strip before, but for different reasons of course.
