Dual Shock 4 PadHack Thread - aka you should padhack the hfc4 pad instead

Sorry another new question I just got my stick from a friend who modded it with the pad hack today.
But my select button on my stick became the share button.
I don’t think this is suppose to right or is it that I’m wrong cuz some games that I tried requires the touch pad part.
Other then this the rest is fine thx~!

The share button is the select button when used on ps3. The touchpad button imo should be mapped to select and map share to turbo. Better yet in a dual mod map ds4 home to turbo or some unused button and share to home because you don’t reallt want the ds4 to try and turn on while you are playing on the other systems and hit home.

Okay, so I just did this mod and ran into something…interesting?

Installed this in a XB1 TE2 w/ Crossbone to PS360

Installed the PS4 signals into the PS360+ Screw terminals with a separate button for home.

Padhack works great on PS4 however now my PS360+ no longer auto detects systems and I also lose 3P/4P functionality. Any ideas? Also I sometimes lose stick functionality, which is weird in itself.

00:38 (PST) update

XB1 works fine.

Checked PS3 and XB360 on PS3 and buttons 5/6 (which I assume are L1/R1 (LB/RB)) are active. Could this possibly be what was mentioned in Page2 regarding the use of diodes?

How are you handling system switching between all the boards

Looks like us modders will need to get a lot of ps4 pads due to sf5 being on ps4

Yeah, looks like I’m going to be putting a DS4 into my TE2 instead of a 360 pad.

not excited about this, but what’re ya gonna do?

Wait for Capcom to confirm that it’s PS4 only? That trailer was taken down pretty swiftly…

Yeah, wait for the official announcement. This could be a timed exclusivity similar to Tomb Raider on the XB1. It does sound like it will be current gen only. The good news is if they are seriously only doing PS4 and PC it would mean that the PS4 and PC players could all play against each other if Capcom wanted (and there is no reason for them not to). Sony doesn’t give a shit about it. Which means you wouldn’t have to touch your stick assuming you have a somewhat OK PC or will have by the time SF5 hits.

I do have a DS4 padhack related question though. What would be the best way to do system switching in a stick that has a PS360+ with a Crossbone/XB1 padhack in it? I currently use Home to switch to the XB1 pad. Would I hook up an Imp to the PS360+ and use Select or some other key to signal the Imp to switch to the PS4 pad?

Are you doing a Tri mod of PS4, XBO and PS360+?

Consider DPDT switches, while as they aren’t as “eloquent” as the Imp, you would have a reliable and straight forward solution.

Now if you go with a DPDT switch + an IMP or 2 Imps you need to make them into a Chain.

The First switch swaps between One PCB and the rest of the whole set up, while the 2nd controls access to the renaming 2 PCBs.

I was hoping to avoid switches as I have a stainless steel panzer case and I’d prefer not to mess with the current outer aesthetics if at all possible

Yeah, I’d like to do a tri mod. Could you explain the logic behind the chain if you don’t mind? In my head I assumed the PS360+ would always be the default boot PCB and you’d hold a modifier button which could then switch to a second PCB. Sys2 on the PS360+ would route to the Xb1 pad using Home where Select would activate the Imp and route to the DS4. But, obviously that is not how it works. So if you don’t mind giving a quick explanation I am all ears. I know I’ll have other issues to resolve but the first step is designing how the system switching should be done.

I would like to complete a pad hack to stick into my PS3 HRAP SA. This is strictly for PS4 use and I already have a spare pad to hack as it is. I’ve read through the thread and have tried to piece together what I can but I’m having difficulty trying to figure out what is required and what is only required if you’re dual modding. I’m going to keep the usb connecter. So what I’m wondering is, if I understand the pictures in the OP:

  1. Wire up the buttons accordingly
  2. Place the 10 ohm resistors between 3+4 and 17+18
  3. Create the dead bug circuit to invert L1/R1 signals

Do I have a decent grasp of this or is there something I’m sorely missing? Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You know, with Street Fighter V and Ultra now coming to PS4, we really need that Crossbone-like solution for DS4 padhacking.

It’s most likely PS4 only considering that Sony was mentioned to be helping with development.

Even if it somehow isn’t exclusive in the long run, we’re still gonna be doing alot of DS4 padhacks since PS4s are now likely to be the tournament standard.

@d3v‌

Yeah the good in this is that mostly all mods will be for ps4. And then the occasional hey I want to play KI so mod it for xbox one. I agree we need an easier way to mod the ps4 pad like crossbones.

Or a 3rd party Controller which it’s PCB leands more to modding.

@Darksakul‌ Did you catch my previous post in this thread in regards to system switching?

I kind of just scanned though it before. If you want to avoid having toggle switches on your case you would have to use v2 IMP switches. Maybe have a 2nd imp going to a Select button or something, you will have to be aware of everything you have on your “switch-chain”.

As of right now I am unaware of any Auto-Select system options with a PS4/XBO Dual-mod/Multi-mod.

I haven’t attempted a PS4- XBOX - PS360+ Multi-mod, I can’t offer too much insight. I can only fall back on conventional electrical wiring wisdom.
I do think the cross bone offers 1"imp style" system switch

Your Set up would be sorta like this

That the best as I could explain it, hopefully someone who more talented in electronics engineering than me can verify or correct this

No worries. I appreciate the response!

The Crossbone does have a switch system where if you hold a button (any you decide) determines which PCB boots. I currently have mine inverted so the PS360+ launches on connection but it will switch to the XB1 PCB by pressing Home on connection.

What you drew is exactly what I had in mind. Setup the v2 Imp to go to the Crossbone on connection which then switches to the PS360+ by default unless I press Home. If I press Select the v2 Imp will switch to the PS4 padhack on connection.

The only issue I can see with this setup is that I already had to overcome some power issues while using the Crossbone and adding in the Imp might add to the issue.

Thanks @Darksakul‌

Hi

Do have a definative solder points for creating a pad have, if so I would be greatful if someone could share

@Gummo‌ you still thinking of offering that prewired pad im thinking about gettin one now that they announce sfIV and V im wanna do a mod on one of my ps3 sticks I like challenges but I seen the padhack tutorial and seems kind of a pain in the butt to solder I live that to the pros but I can do the wiring on the stick

Yes I am offering the padhack ds4 boards.
