ok thanks)
Hi all! Awesome thread! Iâm in trouble with the toodleâs inverter trigger method. Can someone help me with the wiring?

Is this correct?
spot on
Hi I have basically read the first and last two pages of this thread. I canât read the whole thing right now so please forgive me if this has already been asked.
I am interested in pad hacking a Dual Shock 4 to play SF V (assuming it doesnât suck) but to avoid inverting the L1 and R1 buttons couldnât a fella just keep the ribbon sheet and wire into the contact pad or the tracks on the ribbon sheet? Because isnât that where the resistors are that invert it in itâs unmodified form. I know that it will mean that the pad circuit board will end up taking up more space which although regrettable would to me be preferable to rigging up a dead bug circuit or something like that. Iâve padhacked a PS1 basic pad (why canât they all be as straight forward as this one) and opened up and worked on PS2 and PS3 pads with varying degrees of success.
To give more context what I have on the drawing board atm is to get my hands on a PS3 shell to make a hitbox stick hybrid fight stick. as a PS3 shell has a fair amount of room inside it I would wanât the pad part to include the option to use wirelessly or wired. Another idea that crossed my mind is to make it a dual mod by having a PS1 pad in there as well as itâs also with a common ground so with a series of double throw switches the button contacts could switch between pads thus making a pad that can be used on all 4 playstations (I donât play fighting games on Xbox so I wouldnât be missing out by not including xbox controller support).
Save yourself the trouble and get an fc4 and a mc Cthulhu
No, you cant solder to plastic. Resistors donât invert signals. There isnât any inverting circuit on the ribbon sheet. The l1 and r1 signals on the ds4 are active high while the other inputs are active low. Just save yourself the trouble and use a hfc4.
Thanks for the tip Gummo Hori Fighting Commander 4 is just the thing to save me a lot of hassle
Yeah I changed the thread title and first line in the first post to reflect that. Thereâs really no reason to padhack ds4 pads anymore now that there are better 3rd party pad options.
I still prefer to use Dual Shock 4s whenever I have to mod a HRAP V3/VX as I just prefer the smaller form factor for mounting. For everything else though, HFC4 all the way.
Thatâs what dremel is for
Ds4 is beyond obsolete now
Enjoy dropped inputs lol
One thing that makes pad hacking a DS4 worth the bullshit is the convenience of being able to turn on your PS4 with ya fight stick. For some that is a big deal but not for me, Iâd happily use a first party controller to turn on the console and then use the fight stick. I already do that with my PS3 where I use the official controller to turn it on and then either use my third party controller to play FIFA or I plug my fightstick in and have at it in U:SF IV
So turning on the console is worth losing inputs in game?
I hope everyone reads this and now knows ds4 doesnât work wired like it should; it still needs to connect over Bluetooth. Have confirmed this with customers.
Save a life and use fc4 people!
Could you tell me more about this issue? Is it documented elsewhere?
Iâve had customers ask if the ds4 dual mod lags and I have never heard of it. They then tested closer to the console and further away and confirmed they lost inputs the further away they moved despite being wired. Other modders have confirmed. Itâs been said before in this thread and possibly elsewhere that the ds4 does not communicate with the ps4 over USB.
Stop using this pad!
so youâre better off using a DS4 wirelessly rather than wired? As in less lag and lost input when used wirelessly?
My dual modded joystick using the Cthulu for the PS3 side of things could turn on the PS3 no problems by pressing the Home button on my joystick. Was this not the case with other 3rd party PS3 wired controllers?
Vicko is the modern who most active on this page, and he a modder of simular caliber to Gummo. His word to me worth more than some documentation. Keep in mind your documentation comes from people just like me, Gummo or Vicko.
hori FC4 pcb do not need transistor / resistance? and withon ps360+ do we need switch pcb FC4 with ps360+? thanks
can someone please tellshow how neutralize the ds4 analog axis with 10k ohm resistors?? I needed to remove the analogs, and I really need some help how to neutralize. Thanks a lot :)!
