most terminal strip have screw in connection (mine does) makes it so much easier to mod with,
Hey guys, im attemtping to do a dual-mod for this… I have a PS1 Dual Shock Rev A (Early) and im hoping to wire up a Xbox 360 Wireless Controller instead of a wired one. How would i go around this?
Also, do i have to connect the two PCB’s together to make it work? Or can i just connect each controller to a Terminal Strip?
Lastly, can i splice the PS1 controller cable to make it shorter, and connect it at the very end? (Im using a converter, so the input will be a USB in the end, where i will then use a USB 2.0 Extender. )
Thank You.
thanks
-You cannot dual mod with a wireless PCB.
-The two PCBs can be either piggy backed or wired to the same terminal strip.
Do not use an MS 360 wired pad they are not common ground use Madcatz.
Also make sure that the Xbox 360 pads VCC is connected the PS1 pad VCC, same with ground.
-Yes you can make it shorter, you’ll have to re-connect I believe 7 wires.
Noob in need
Hi, i am kinda new to SRK and i havent really learned to navigate the vastness of the forums for what i seek. If this is something you have all talked about already or i should be looking at a different forum, please point me in the right direction. and sorry for the trouble.
Anyways, I am thinking about making my own Arcade stick and i have been reading around on how to do so. But what is boggling my mind is that i don’t know how to cross console a stick and the main reason to me wanting a stick is to play it on the PS3/PS2/360/PC. I want to make a stick that can pretty much go with anything it comes into contact with.
Is it possible to have that many PCBs crammed in there? or is there a simplifying alternative like if i had the PS3 PCB it would work on the PS2?
I wanna just make a couple of Sticks instead of having a bunch cluttering my home so i can play on different systems at my friend’s homes.
Anyways, blabbering aside, If you can point me in the direction of the thread that covers this oddball compatibility or can just tell me here; It would be most appreciated.
Again, Sorry to pop outta nowhere and take up time and space.
@shinigaminohono, you just need to snag what’s called an MC Cthulhu from the venerable Toodles, or one of his sellers like modchipman.com or Lizard Lick. It’s a great little device which, literally, allows you to use your stick on pretty much ANYTHING, outside the Dreamcast and the 360. However, it’s extremely common to dual-PCB with an MC Cthulhu and a 360 pad.
Look up Bomberman’s Adding an MC Cthulhu to the SE Stick thread; it’s got lots of great information and the principle is the same. Between this thread and that one, you will be all set. Good luck!
Thank you very much! :lovin::lovin::lovin:
I see some people have successfully dual-modded their HRAP’s and was wondering if there was a tutorial or some schematics that existed. If not is there anyone technically savvy enough to throw together a simple tutorial or guide to do so?
I own an HRAP2SA and am looking to dual-mod it with 360 functionality. I have no soldering or modding experience but I know some people who know electronics. I’d appreciate a point in the right direction on getting this done properly and some pics and idea’s for getting the cord out of the HRAP’s case.
i tried searching, but couldn’t find a clear answer. i was going to do my setup per instructions on the first post. only difference is i have a ps2 dual shock a late model http://slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps2_diagram7.jpg. is it correct that i need to find a ps1 dual shock because my pad has 2 seperate grounds? was wondering if any modification could be done to make it work before looking for another pad. thanks guys.
Both pads need to be common ground. Get a DS1.
You can use a PS1 digital pad (no analog sticks), but they don’t have the best compatibility with adapters/converters like the DS1.
Don’t expect to walk into Gamestop and find PS1 pads though as they’ve pretty much cleared out old inventory. Check pawnshops, eBay, or other random game stores.
i wonder, is there any way to get a madcatz 360 controller (retro arcade or gamestop) internationally at a reasonable price? =/
is there a switch needed to change between the two consoles?
Nope. You just plug one of the other in (but not both simultaneously).
Can we use any Madcats pad / Wired X360 pad without a common ground? I Cant seem to find one at my local gamestop / ebgames. =( they all have the new packaging…
Also, i have a Dual Shock 1 ‘A’ Revision (Not the solderless one), and i cant find the ‘ground’ for it (Slagcoin circles a random spot on the PCB for ground…)
I also cut the triggers off on it as well. bad idea?
thanks
No, common ground is required.
There are a few places you can take ground. I get it from the left side of the down direction. I know the Slagcoin seems random, and it confused me as well. I saw someone actually scratch it down and use it there so I assume that it does work.
Ah gay. this may be a problem then because EBGames now sells the non-common ground MadCats here in Canada… =/ Are there any Wired X360 pads out there with a common ground?
I cut my triggers off, and im still unsure if this will be a major problem or not… lol =( im hoping it isnt…
So I’m thinking about doing this to my Madcatz SE SF4 stick, and I have an old MadCatz Dual Force 2 Pro lying around (old ps2 pad), does anyone know if the board in there is common ground or what?
Anybody around use and AXISdapter and a 360 wired pad? If so, got a wiring diagram? Thanks alot!
Yes, you scratch away at the green film revealing the copper for that ground spot. I don’t know how big you can make it, but I scratched away quite a bit (larger than a face button).
If you mean together, it can’t be done. PS3 pcbs are not common ground.
Ok, ive read the OP many times over. I have a broken SFAC stick im going to rip all the wires out of and re-wire it dual with a PS1 DS and a 360 madcatz pad.
First off, one of the pictures is broken in the OP, does anyone have it handy?
Second, and i just want to make sure im reading the description properly, i basically wire all the buttons from both sticks into the same ports on a terminal strip. Then connect those matched buttons on the strip to the buttons on the stick. I then wire up all the grounds to each other, then connect them to the grounds from BOTH sticks on the terminal? After that, i connect the power and ground from BOTH boards directly to each other? And thats it?
It seems quite simple, but looks can be deceiving. Thanks.
