Dragon's Dogma (From the director of DMC3)

I just like how, upon reading the IGN review, if I replaced the words Dragons Dogma with Skyrim, people wouldn’t be able to tell it wasn’t originally about Skyrim. Double standards. Sigh.

One thing that had me not liking the demo was the fact that the camera kept zooming in on your pawns in the middle of a battle showing what they’re doing. Cost me a few hits doing that. I hope this isn’t a constant thing in the game.

You can turn that off. Its the cinematic camera, I believe. It’s in the options.

The sorta like Dark Souls combat is appealing, but it won’t be Dark Souls, the “like a shittier Skyrim” references doesn’t help since Skyrim was pretty dull for me anyway(Bethesda can world build all they want, their combat is boring as fuck). From the Director of DMC3/4 doesn’t help, Itsuno’s main directorial trademark has been recycling environments. Dunno about this one. Couldn’t get into Witcher 2, and Skyrim has been a great substitute for Nyquil so far…

Dammit next game on the to-buy list…

Fuck a Resident Evil 6… time to start putting some cash away for this…

Reviews say boss bosses, combat, and exploration are great and everything else is flawed which is about what I expected when I first saw game play videos. Still not really interested due to my backlog but its nice to see a new IP being successful somewhat.

Picked it up last night. Gamestop had some McDonalds chicken McNuggets and soda we could eat FOR FREE lol that’s gangsta! Most people where there for Ghost Recon 2.

Big fan of Berserk / Guts so I was able to port the avatar of him that I used in the demo right into the game. I used the model they had of him, just made him a bit tan so he looks like the anime version more. It’s wild that in the FMVs his closed eye opens a little bit. Ha Griffith’s demons didn’t get the whole eye in Dragon’s Dogma land man screw him! :looney:

It was cool that if you let the opening title run you hear a TM Revolution Engrish song. HA HA HA Sengoku Basara fans represent!

I only got to mess around with it for an hour. Will play some more in a few hours. So far so good.

The wiki for this says I’ll be able to buy blue hair for my character (with in-game currency, supposedly). My first goal in this game will be to farm as long as it takes for me to make Bad Box Art BOF Ryu (aka Manly American Boxart Ryu).

Yeah the strat guide does mention that you will be able to go to places where you can change your hair color, and I think eye color later in the game. Note that you can only make cosmetic changes and you are locked into your height / weight / sex / facial features throughout the entire game.

EDIT: Got to the pawn creation part. In the demo I created Casca from Berserk so I was able to port her over. However I had a TON more options in the game then I had with the demo so I could make it look much more like her.

So using the fifth volume of the Berserk manga as reference I made it look like her as much as I could. I like how she came out.

You have to answer 4 questions to determine the personality of your pawn. I answered them all the same way I felt a young Casca would. She’s really headstrong so this might get me in trouble later but oh well.

Definitely want to try to make some Capcom characters later. Haven’t had this much fun with a create a character mode since Soul Calibur 4.

I picked it up and played a couple hours. Everything was cool until I decided to talk to Mercedes and “rest.” Then shit went bonkers with a Hydra. I jumped on that mother fucker and started stabbing him, but the Hydra shook it off like a champ.

I ended up making my character look like Freddie Mercury.

Played up until just after the Hydra, and so far I like it a lot. I only use my main pawn right now because I think they all talk too much.

Same here, played up until after the hydra and had to quit, but I’m super eager to get back tonight after work and get cracking. I went for the mage class and am surprised the starting healing spell takes so long to charge up, and is only effective within a short radius of effect. It makes me think there may be some really difficult boss fights requiring some serious planning and strategy, which makes me stupidly happy!

I have no idea why, but I decided my character should look like a dirty grizzled old hobo with scraggly hair, and I’m digging it.

Fighting the Chimera alone is one of the best boss fights ever. I’m channeling my inner Monster Hunter here, and I love it.

Thanks, pushed me to getting this and have no regrets.

Can I throw my Pawn off a cliff and play alone?

You need to throw Arcade/Champion Edition in there, somewhere…

What I thought was interesting was that the Cure spell is a Mage class only. The higher rank Sorcerer class and all the other Mage-Hybrid classes cannot use Cure.

How many years this game been in development? So i can throw my wallet in Dere’.

Found some enemies that can’t be harmed without magic. So much for only using one pawn.

Just stopping in to say that this game is tight. Carry on. picks up his pawn and leaves
