Yes offline Ur drops Ascalon, that’s where I got mine.
I’ve missed out on a lot of Ur kills as well, I would be playing til around 3-4am and it would still have about 2.5 life bars left. I think it’s because of time differences and most of the players are on the other side of the world. We NA players get shafted. :\
I think if you friend the player then they are free. I believe that’s happened to me when I first started playing because I always saw a lvl 44 pawn in the rift that belonged for someone for 0RC. I didn’t check the gamer tag but my brother said the pawn master’s name was one of his friends.
you can kill the drake… however it’s gonna take a very long time.
i did it back as a lvl 50 assassin w/ main pawn as a ranger, along w/ lvl 30 warrior and mage hired pawns. no items were used nor equipment enhanced(atleast for my main pawn and i) and no pawns were sent back to the rift during the entirety of the battle. the only skills i used were: fullmoon slash(sword), fivefold flurry(bow), and high halidom(mage pawn); it also might help if you limited your main pawn(ranger) to assist by using tenfold flurry or crippling arrow(eliminate every other skill in his/her arsenal so he/she will only use this/these.)
essentially the strat is to watch the drakes atks from a safe distance(outside tailwhip range) making sure to strafe by quickly dashing to the side if he’s aimed at you(to avoid any charging atk attempts) then run up and fullmoon slash his heart w/e he is open after an atk. a good number of atks leave him open for a few fullmoon slashes depending on how fast you can travel up to his heart w/e the opportunity presents itself.
he grabs one of your pawns = 1 to 2 fullmoon slashes then one more to free your pawn
fire breathe while moving back ward = run up underneath him while he’s moving backward and do a deep fullmoon slash so his heart backs up into your atk
stationary fire breathe = be careful, during this time he can turn his head toward you right before he breathes fire, so be wary. strafe so he misses then go for 1 to 2 fullmoon slashes
when he’s flying he can either: retreat and land a fair distance away, drop straight down, or stay aloft and breathe fire down = wait for the last scenario(he remains in the air and his mouth is glowing) then repeatedly shoot his heart w/ fivefold flurry which will send him crashing down then run up and go for 2 to 3 fullmoon slashes
he has more atks but they aren’t very threatening if you just stay a fair distance away and observe, it’s very easy to avoid his atks once you learn them.
the real risk comes when trying to revive your pawns. safely reviving your pawns require a bit of luck and good judgement. once you become acquanted and well familiar w/ his set of atks you’ll be better adept at judging when and when not to revive your pawns. your pawns can stay downed longer than you think so don’t be afraid to wait a little longer for a better opportunity to revive them.
be prepared because it DOES take a while. even at lvl 50, rockin’ an almace(ice sword) you still do shitty dmg, it took me the rest of an entire day then into the night by lantern light and finally well into the morrow after to fell the beast.
YES YES YES a thousand times YES!!! i’ve always thought more games with leveling mechanics should be designed using this idea instead… though it’s not so easily implemented. especially in a game as open and this, where you’re not presented w/ a clear order to encounter certain bosses/enemies/dungeons/new map areas… but i feel this idea is a step in the right direction and i must say i wholeheartedly agree.
I beat the game earlier today and started New Game+. I don’t know if I have the desire to keep playing. The game is fun as hell but I feel like a fat ass and time slows down playing this game.
I beat the offline Ur Dragon, but the online is stupid. I don’t know what the deal is with it. I literally do no damage to it. I’m attacking the weak spots and they don’t disappear like the offline one, AND he takes no damage. So i just gave up and said fuck it. Getting “lucky” and being the one to get a Ur Dragon who’s almost dead is just stupid.
I only have 6 or so more achievements left but I don’t think I have the patience to do them.
All the players around the world need to beat him together. That’s the point. Once he dies, you get rewards. If you go to fight him half hour after the moment he dies, you get better rewards.
I don’t think it should get a patch for difficulty really. I’m not saying it’s fine the way it is but I think the experiment that is Dragon’s Dogma worked and now it’s time to wait for RE:6 to make Capcom some money and for any sequel to come out in 2014. That is unless of course they already have different plans for it but fixing a few things with the first game seems like more of a waste of time/money that could be spent on revamping it for a sequel.
FurryCurry Sequel Ideas 2: I think I figured out how to implement multiplayer in Dragon’s Dogma without breaking what is unique about the title in the first place. In DD2 they could go at things Mass Effect 3 style for multiplayer. I figure that:
Everfall is the connecting point for all the dimensions in Dragon’s Dogma. Each copy of the game is it’s own unique dimension connected by Everfall and the Pawns.
There can only be one Arisen in each dimension so it wouldn’t make sense for Arisens to leave their own world to fight in another one. That would be some crazy dimensional paradox.
So how do you get people to co-op it up? Play as your pawns in the Rift! What if Dragon’s Dogma 2 is about an ongoing crisis in the Rift and it affecting every world. Pawns would have to work together to deal with some great threat in the Rift. So basically we have an Everfall scenario but with a greater variety of environments and quest goals. Players would get together as their own respective pawns and fight. Instead of a giant world like Gransys it would just be dungeons and enclosed outdoor areas. I think it could work.
Imho, the game really need to become more harder, or at least give the choice for players to choose the difficulty on settings, also the IA for spawns is really bad sometimes, you can see it if you have on your team a strider or a ranger, fight at distance is really dumb for them.
NG+ seems so boring, no more challenges… i really hope a patch because i love this game!
Still handicapping myself by choosing good-looking low-tier weapons & armor and running with just my main pawn. I’m all about looks, & most people’s pawns won’t shut up anyways, so it’s all good.
Whoever said Great Cannon was herpa derp was right. Thankfully, it’s boring as fuck to use, so I swapped it for more unorthodox stuff like Vortex Sigil.
I usually prefer to fuck around in these types of games, so NG+ is still keeping me entertained. So long as I’m not escorting an NPC, I’ve gotten into the habit of fighting bandits/goblins/saurians with just the Magick Shield counter skills.
Sheeeit, everyone is so far ahead… I just hit level 38 today; rank 9 Sorcerer (PS3 version). There was one quest where I was looking for something in the Catacombs… that particular quest was going on forever and I eventually just gave up on that shit. The Catacombs place is so huge it’s like wandering around the entire African continent in search of a particular grain of sand… on the other hand, that quest where I had to track down and help kill the Griffin was THE SHIT. On the way there, I ran into a Golem… we started fighting that thing at night, and it was the next morning (in the game’s time) once we finally killed it. Even hitting the weak spots, it seemed to take a long ass time to gradually chip away at its health…but I loved every minute of it. The battles in this game are amazing to me. Later on, that fight with the griffin at the tower…ohhhhhh so good… I jumped on and it tried flying away while I was still holding on, still hitting him in mid-air… he got caught on fire though ("you can’t run away…you’re in for a world of hurt!") and fell to the ground again. So many battle scenarios in this game have me thinking whoahhh I should’ve been recording THAT.
*I just found the Salvation robes that give your character that “Emperor Palpatine” look…perfect for mages and sorcerers.
*That pawn that sells things for rift crystals in the first encampment… yesterday, I killed that son of a bitch because I thought he ripped me off when I bought the thing that lets you change your character and pawn…turns out it’s apparently not supposed to be in your inventory anyway, you just see “edit character” as an option the next time you go to the title screen. Still, it was satisfying and funny to kill him.
It’s that damned Diablo 3. I think word of mouth will help it pick up sales eventually but shitty ass reviews like the one at Joystiq really hurt my baby.
The US sales numbers everyone loves throwing around about this game(93,000 sold) is from 5 days, May 22-26. 5 days for a brand new ip to sell close to 100k copies is pretty damn good.
The offline dragon mostly drops heaven’s key, ascalon, and volant white along with 20 wakestones that can be sold for a pretty hefty sum. I wouldn’t mind giving you one, but I actually would prefer to trade for a volant white since I haven’t gotten one yet.
I’m at lvl 110 right now. If anyone wants to use my pawn for free (mage tank with nearly 4k hp, looks like L from death note) just add me on PSN: Behold-OpicBlast.
