yep game’s too easy. did you really expect a game which allows you to:
buy/farm as many healing items as you/your pawns can carry
over level yourself
quick save at almost any point, which allow for the fishing of ideal situations/treasure items
cure from pause menu
to be very difficult? sure there’s the possibility of getting one shotted after deciding to explore new areas/fight new foes, but i imagine if you’re the type to fancy quick saving often, the aforementioned threats yield little to no consequence. if you want to make the game more difficult try:
only hiring pawns below lvl 30
never using items, save for oil for lanterns
never enhancing any gear or weapons
never using the quick save function
protecting your pawns from death instead of leaving them behind/using them as meat shields only to snatch 'em back up at the rift outside
tis what i did once i learned the game was going to allow certain advantages to the player. making the game more difficult may just fill the void of personal challenge, if left vacant by the game atm. try it and you may just find threat and consequence can go a long way in making your victories over battles and completion of quests that much more sweeter. it’s made my overall experience playing the game much more enjoyable… hopefully it will for you too!
I’m in post game now. It’s pretty great. It’s like the whole world is on steroids since all the puny enemies are replaced with last dungeon monsters. Once I’m done with the infamous afk vocation farming, I’ll start planning builds and combinations and set out to do all the side quests with no healing items.
DA FUCK?!
That sounds kind of awesome, actually.
As long as the “mini-boss” song continues to play. I <3 that song
lol, wow I never thought of that but you’re right.
Yeah, I suppose most of the “bad aspects” of the game tend to belong to the JRPG element, which kind of makes me laugh because LOL SHUT UP WEEABOOS!!
Like the mages play really JRPGish… which sucks in a game like this ;_;
There’s a frost drake chilling outside Gran Soren now. Caught me totally off guard…
I get to keep almost all my previous ongoing sidequests, plus get new ones. And a secret dungeon once I’m done. A lot of sfuff to do
No items seems to be the most solid choice for challenge, since your max HP lowers so it’s not like you can run away and heal your troubles away. In a long journey every hit you’ll take will matter.
So, reset/instant reset is amazing. It’s basically a free “infinite combo” trick since you cancel any attack to immediately begin another one. For instance, Hundred Kisses - reset - Hundred Kisses, etc, etc. Or you can reset out of firing your bow, to eliminate the delay where you have to put the bow back. It really is a great ability.
Secretly I wish it were a core move like tapping RB+LB to do it. But then dagger users would be broken.
Ok finished maxing out Magic Archer. Omg what a dumb vocation in the long run. The magic bow gets LESS cool as you rank up. What sense does that make? They could have gotten a bit more creative imo. Although I love that one Vortex arrow because I killed a cyclops with it. Damn thing sucked him off a cliff. It was cool to watch him in a daze as he slowly pulled to one side.
I also like the “dark trap” dagger move (can’t think of the name atm) where you create a vortex on the ground that traps enemies. At first it sucked to me but then I started getting more courageous with it’s deployment. I run up into groups and quickly do it and then dive out of the way and let the rest of the party mercilessly murder everyone who’s trapped. Plus it lasts quite awhile and two can be deployed. Doesn’t seem to work on boss foes.
I’m think of Mystic Knight next but after that what vocation do you guys think I should try?
I don’t like hundred kisses and reset. I used to, just like you did, but it’s dangerous to stay still for so long and you don’t rack up damage unless you do. Later I swapped them for standard chain combo->Implacate rinse repeat. It did the same thing while also keeping you moving around and neutralizing other enemies depending on the angle.
I got to the UrDragon today. Post-game is pretty awesome and the difficulty definitely went back up so it wasn’t too easy like it was right before post-game.
Assassin is definitely the best class in the game. If you don’t want to be too cheesy, then no need to try this, but I went 3 bouts against the dragon without even being threatened (though I’m definitely gonna change it up since it’s my first time fighting him).
cheese
[details=Spoiler]Take gale harness (increase attack and move speed), hundred kisses, and invisibility. Cast invisibility to make yourself invincible, then gale, then drink liquid vim. Congratulations you are invincible, insanely fast, and have unlimited stamina for like 30 seconds.
You can buy liquid vim from some people in everfall or find it. Just eating food for stamina works too, since invis stamina drain is actually slow, but with liquid vim you can hold on just about anything.

I also managed to get dragon forged silk lingerie just for laughs. It actually is no longer weak to piercing anymore, so it probably is more like the iron chastity belt from men in tights now.
Just got to post-game. I’ve been skimming the posts that talk about it to avoid any & all spoilers.
I must say it’s better than what I was expecting. Thought it was just gonna be “start over game w/ current level/gear/etc & be super god-like” mode like in most other Capcom games.
Only thing I don’t like is that I always have to equip a lantern now, even in the daytime.
The game’s strongest boss. Offline he’s just a really strong dragon like the red one in the main game. Online his health pool is shared among everyone fighting him. You have about 8-10 minutes to chip away at his health before he flies away and you get to restock and come back to fight him again. If you die or leave (before he flies away), he regains health for everyone. So it gets really annoying when you were working on that last bar, then next time you come back it regained some because people kept dying to it.
Online has better rewards than offline. You can get very good gear from him as long as you contribute some damage to the fight. If you get the killing blow ( multiple arisen can get it) your gear becomes dragonforged.
He hits like a truck. I never died but I have gotten close because his spells are really nasty, especially that light circle. I dunno how hard he is offline, but online it takes a while to chip away at that health since you have to find spots that make him bleed since it’s not always obvious and every time I come back it seems to get changed up because of the varying health pool.
Lol, the warrior is useless after you learn Bastion and Clout since you can use them with other better melee classes. Then again you gotta max out the class before you can learn Clout. (while Bastion is available at the start)
That’s the NG+…
Post-game is just the very last portion of the game.
Do the little dragons respawn? How long does it take for them to do that? I wanna use them to upgrade my equipment.
I’ve been resting twice and just about everything respawns. Also, to get the best chance of an upgrade, make sure the gear you want dragonforged is at 3 stars for a 20% chance of it getting dragonforged.
I’m on second playthrough, been farming post-game a bit. I’ve got all the vocations maxed except Mage and Sorcerer now.
I’m just afk farming the guards. it’s perfect since it maxes your vocations (and gives nice DCP while at it) without giving you any meaningful exp so you don’t raise more than like 2 levels before maxing out everything.
