No, you have to advnace to a certain part in the game that’s several hours in. It’s to help with ‘lowbees and scrubs’ online. I just hope that doens’t affect local multiplayer, I was going to invite some friends over to play if I got it for hte PS3 (still trying to decide should I grab it for the Vita of the PS3)

I do feel it’s kind of sad that a game’s art style gets more talk than its actual gameplay merits.

When people have nothing of value to say about a subject, they resort to “insight” that a toddler can make in 5 seconds, and leave it at that.

In this case: “One of the playable characters in a videogame has huge breasts. Another has a huge ass. Let’s discuss this ad nauseam.”

I want to say this is how game journalism is but really most videogame forums are like that as well.

BTW I died at “a rape manual”. Like, really, if you see a pair of breasts and the concept you think about is “rape” then you are really fucked up in the head, lol.

Polygon gave the game a 6.5, dislikes being “disgusting/gross portrayal of women” and “very repetitive gameplay”. All other reviews seem to be very positive though.

Yet the hypermasculinization of both the fighter and dwarf(who is near naked) is a-ok. Polygon can shut the fuck up

I do get where she’s coming from. I would agree with you if it stopped at the amazon and sorceress, but some of the NPCs are a bit wtf. Like the nun with her legs spread wide open. Though she seemed to dock way too many points for just not liking the art style. She actually praises the combat in the review which seems weird imo since a beat’em ups greatest strength should be it’s combat.

Edit: Watching the Rev3 stream they made a comment that Dragon’s Crown is “Heavy Metal the game” which is a good point. You can’t take this shit seriously.

I do think saying “the game over sexualizes women” holds some weight, although docking the game that much (on top of gameplay complaints) seems excessive. Someone on Twitter did bring up a good point that the males in the game are part of a male power fantasy rather than being eye candy for females, however, I do think if gender roles were reversed and the men were predominantly over sexualized compared to females in the game, no one would really care, or the outcry would be much softer. I don’t think Polygon made the review in order to link bait either.

As somebody attracted to men, I have plenty to look at in this game, but none of them screamed ‘please fuck me I am a gigantic dick lord’. They were just appealing character designs, whether they were female or male.

Well I am 100% heterosexual.

And the only playable character I find even remotely attractive, is in all probability several hundred years my senior.

Which ironically enough, would probably get me labelled as a paedo, by Polygon.

I’ve never gotten a chance to play that old D&D game, and this game looks like a really advanced Castle Crashers to me, with sexy art.

I love beat’em ups, and I love big damage characters/grapplers so i’ll probably use the Dwarf and body fools with hammers.

Doesn’t it really just depend on how bad you want to play it? How invested are you in the vita also? If you only want to play this game and don’t care about updates and want to (most likely) save some money get a vita. But if you care about being up to date just wait and get a the new Vita. It also depends on the new Vitas specs and if theyre even worth investing in.
