I’ve started the Time of Twins series, really good so far and i’m still on the first book. What’s the next series after that?
Hmm, it went Time of the Twins, then Dragons of Summer Flame I believe
then its the war of the souls trilogy which stars this annoying woman named mina, and there’s an emo elf who falls in love with her whose the son of alhana starbreeze.
Yeah I stopped reading at Dragons of Summer Flame. When all the [details=Spoiler]s peaced out, I was like, yeah Ima peace out too. Good times, good memories, good night
Any book recommendations? I wouldn’t mind starting up a new series that is similar to the Dragon Lance series.
Thanks,
I was always kind of interested in these, but I haven’t read any of these books. People always tell me how good they are. I can’t compare because I’m not entirely sure how the DL universe is, but if you enjoy fantasy you might give Warhammer a try. It did spawn one of the more popular video game universes (WarCraft)
Forgotten Realms > Dragonlance
Never got to play/read anything from Dragonlance, so i really don’t know, but FR does rock and probably Dragonlance, too.
Some of us are masochists, Pab.
On that note, I haven’t been self-abusing enough to read DL since DoSF.
Upon reading it, I realized that the first two trilogies were only good due my being 13 when I read them.
And even then, I thought that the Everman shit was whack contrivance and bad writing.
It’s been years since DoSF, which afford them a semi-graceful end to the series.
I can’t imagine it’s gotten less contrived in its continuing, given the above’s ending.
Regardless, it was my last venture into Krynn.
A Song of Ice and Fire is great stuff.
Too good.
Contrasting it with Dragonlance makes me wince.
Try it - you’ll never go back to DL rubbish.
As I am writing this I sorta think this post doesn’t belong in here but meh
if you’re looking for some more kickin rad fantasy novels I would recommend these series (though none of these books are as “high fantasy” as Dragonlance imo, what I mean is pretty much every line any character has in DL I can imagine them with their fist in the air, or with their hands on their hips and chests puffed out, the dialogue is a tad more subdued in these books(though admittedly not much)
The Drizzt Forgotten Realms books, they have their ups and downs but I enjoy them a ton, since these books have been out a good while now I’ll list them in painstaking chronological order instead of the order they were written in. You can probably find the trilogy books and therefore not have to find them individually
Dark Elf Trilogy
Homeland
Exile
Sojourn
Icewind Dale Trilogy:
The Crystal Shard
Streams of Silver
The Halflings gem
Legacy of the Drow I think all 4 of these are together
Legacy
Starless Night
Siege of Darkness
Passage to Dawn
If I recall the rest of these dont come packaged together just yet
The Silent Blade
Spine of the World
Servant of the Shard (which also splits off into two other books)
Sea of Swords
then we fight orcs:
The Thousand Orcs
The Lone Drow
The Two Swords
then fucked up shit:
The Orc King
The Pirate King, which i think is out now
ok, The Slayer novels are a great place to start in Warhammer, at least the ones William King wrote, I havent read the others, these can be found grouped in two books called the slayers omnibus or indivually (you may see a pattern in the names)
Trollslayer
Skavenslayer
Dragonslayer
Vampireslayer
Beastslayer
Giantslayer
Or if you are a furry read the Brian Jaques books they are cool but all the characters are animals
[b
yeah, you need to read the Slayer books. Gotrek is a bad ass. I stopped on the Drizzt shit after legacy of the Drow but I think I’m gonna start back up. I enjoyed those books.
Well, since Boleslaw opened up discussion for FR books… the Erevis Cale trilogy is god-tier awesomeness. Great rogue book for all you other miscreants out there.
Also all you DL fans should check this song if you haven’t
Melt Wizard’s “Weis and Hickman”
I enjoy it
Just some recommendations from what people have shared with me:
The Belgariad Trilogy
His Dark Materials
The Farseer Trilogy
(enjoy!)
Okay, so i’m reading Ender’s Game and really like it. It’s the first in the series but subsequent books aren’t in chronological order.
Any of you ever read this series? Would you recommend reading it in c.order or production order?
Yeah, Ender’s Game was awesome.
The Farseer Trilogy was okay.
And now i’m currently reading Belgariad which isn’t too bad so far.
Ravenloft books are even better than Dragonlance. They stole Lord Soth and imprisoned his ass and he shall forever be tortured.
(^_^)/
A Song of Ice and Fire is probably my fav fantasy series
Ice and Fire is okay… It just leaves me unsatisfied, and it’s taking a looong time. I’m happy for authors that know when to wrap something up.
I’ll check out the Raveloft books. Thanks for the recommendation RAFF.
The Belgariad series was awesome. I got me started into reading a lot when I was a kid. It’s too bad all of David Eddings’ books suck nowadays. He was favorite my author cuz of that series.
