everything shouldnt be expected to follow one principle of competitive gaming. madden isn’t played 2 out of 3 is it? There is nothing wrong with different games working under a different scheme. I can guarantee you alot of the online play is going to use potaras, and alienating that segment of the player base doesnt seem like a good idea to me. At the very least, I say you allow both and see how many people are willing to show. If nobody wants to play with potaras then cancel it(hell thats what usually happens when people schedule SC3 tournies).
“Why else would you expect high stat characters like SSJ4 Gogeta to be very limited in terms of B1 strategy compared to a low stat character like Chiaotzu”
goes against customization.
Why is it that chars. with high stats have bad B1s?
While chars with low stats have better B1s?
That sounds like balance to me right there.
Good Stats vs Good Abilities"
the thing is all the new restrictions have made it more difficult to make use of the b1’s which is why you need the new potaras that spike designed. At least thats what I got out of Sprawlers comments. Correct me if i’m wrong.
No codes, No passwords, No handicaps, no Secret Characters and No Glitches. These rules have been the foundation to countless structured tournaments not long before I started playing video games at 4 years old. I understand change is required for evolution in competitive gaming however the fundamental principles should always stay true to its original form. If not, then there is no principle foundation to build further on. I don’t know what you may have comprehended in my last post but this is the meaning of what I’m talking about. I have not agreed on anything Jeron has said “Specifically”. I am just saying play the game based on the fundamental principle of competitive gaming.
handicaps are there to account for differences in the skill of the players. Potaras are dealing with balance of in game characters. besides handicaps arent used because it’s too subjective a system to be used in hopes of balancing out the playing field.
No secret characters - the naruto scene as well as the snk scene use secret characters. svc chaos for example. Despite how broken geese and zero were they are allowed anyway.
no glitches - glitches are used all the time. CVS 2 is the prime example(RCs and so much more) and any attempts to play without them are ignored. some glitches are banned but it’s a case by case basis and not a general rule of thumb.
codes and secrets change are extra inputs designed to change the very engine or characters with the intent of overpowering something or someone in a non competitive context to begin with. Potara’s are designed for the game. They are not a hidden bonus of any sort.
