I main a ton of characters but my team usually goes like this
Cell
Super 17 (a gimmicky thing you could do when your opponent throws ki blasts is switch him in and absorb it)
Syn Shenron (LOL L2+^+triangle)
Early Goku
Tien (ultimate to gdlk)
Yeah everyone mains a ton of characters because they all almost fight exactly the same. Not like I didn’t expect that since there’s like 2000 characters but still.
That’s a good point that his “super armor” (I guess I’d call it that) works on a vast majority of the cast. Honestly, I have an alt ready for LSSJ. Teen Gohan isn’t terrible against him, but fused characters and… I think SSJ3 Goku. There are a few who completely ignore it.
To people questioning the inifite; try it. If you block a dragon rush or rush super (I’m using the wrong terms here I think) I mean the L2 + X dashes. Blocking those with less than a bar of energy makes you need to mash O for a while and you can’t move at all. It seems feasible that you can just drain their energy over and over. So Cell forms 1 and 2, Android 19, and Dr.Gero would have infinites that are very situational.
But Hercule and a nameless Freiza soldier aren’t?
ChiChi can actually fight. She was in at least one world martial art tournaments and had to fight Goku.
I don’t think I could really say I had mained anyone since I had only played the game for about a month, but who I would probably main would be
Gohan (Goku gi) 1st main
Subs
18
Goku (End)
Burter
Arale
Vegeta (Majin)
That female Sayain (forgot her name)
First of all, no. Hercule is probably one of the best characters in the game, as well as my favorite character on the show. Yes, I agree the Frieza Soldier, Appule, Arale (pretty much everyone from DB), King Vegeta, Herudagarn, and many others are wasted slots.
Both cell 1 and 2 have infinites. Example.
Works on everyone in the game. Although if they only need one bar to charge up its only possible if they get stuck in a corner. Other wise they can mash out that I recall…
And the first(and second? I forget) characters that didnt use a lot of meter for regular fireballs like the lowest level vegetas had infinites as well that I recall. I dont remember it working at all in the third though. And im iffy it worked in the second.
EDIT: Oh and actually reading my post on that, one of the jobbers guy had some weird corner infinite as well. I forgot about that… To the point im not even sure how it went right now. Rubs chin
How the hell is no one playing Kid Buu? While he did have that shitty type of grab where your arm stretches, he was sick.
Arale was friggin powerful too.
Yeah, the cell one you can mash out of if your not in the corner or not fast at mashing. with 19 and 20 it works either way because they absorb 2 bars and not 1
@ GomuGomu - my friend plays Kid Buu, very annoying character, one of the best in the game.
I lol’d
I’ll have to try it out and mess with it because looking at the video dialupsucky just posted I can actually put a visual to it and see what you guys are talking about. The only thing I can come up with is just focusing on spamming on O as best as you can to try to get your ki back if it won’t let you teleport/burst. I find it weird as hell that it won’t let you burst out of that since you could do that to just about everything in the game…sacrificing a chunk of life to get out of situations seems like a good deal to me plus you could bait and punish it sometimes.
Edit:
Mains included Spameta (Buu Saga Vegeta with the 2 bar ki spam on all his forms), Burter (for lols), Cell, Yajirobe (yes…strangely he’s actually not that bad in this game, unblockable slash ki blast and if you aren’t on him 24/7 then he’ll get his life back), Teen Gohan, Bardock, Android 13 and Broly (catching people in clotheslines is too fun.)
Yeah try testing it out with Dr. Gero, because he absorbs 2 bars instead of 1
Everything in this post is correct. I know the infinites in BT 2 worked for like Vegetas and I knew one with Android 18… I have no idea what a jobbers guy is though.
Kid Buu ain’t bad, but I don’t think he’s top tier, probably high.
No, Arale is really bad. She may have some silly gimmicks, but with that terrible mobility and defensive options, she can’t do much.
You’re on to something in the first paragraph. That explosive wave L2 + O thing is the key to high tier in this game. There are a few viable characters that don’t have this ability (namely Hercule), but it really saves you from so much stuff. With SSJ2 Teen Gohan, I don’t think it’s possible to lose once you get a blast stock full heh. But, this is also sort of just my play style. I’m terrible with giants like Hirudegarn and the dude from world’s strongest movie.
I like your character choices, except Bardock. Vegeta is very good and you seem to understand why (I think SSJ1 is the best form of this Vegeta), Burter was a little better in BT2 IMO, but still great in this game. Cell I really like the first three forms. Good call on Yajirobe, I like him too! Teen Gohan is my main ;P. Bardock??? Android 13 is really powerful all around. And even though Broly got the nerf bat, I guess he had super armor against it
no no no not the one that people use a blast stock for. I’m talking about the universal burst that EVERYONE in this game has that they can use at the sacrifice of some of their health. Should be R1 twice IIRC. Usually you can use that regardless of any situation so long as you have health to use it. They implemented it in BT3…not sure if it’s in RB though.
Yes definitely. I was basing this actually off of my knowledge of BT2 soooo yea I’m glad it’s not as bad as I thought it was. Thx

DBZBT3 feels like a DBZ fighting game
DBZB3 and specially SDBZ dont feel like DBZ at all, so they fail
Yeah, honestly, I don’t get the hype behind SDBZ, and I have it. Like, if I want to play a legit fighting game, I’ll play legit fighting games. If I want DBZ, I basically want playable fan service. As long as it looks nice and doesn’t play like shit, and has great presentation, I’ll probably get it somewhere down the road (I’ve owned every DBZ game for the PS2…except the game that must not be named…and you guys know what it is, but I have none for this generation).
It’s been a while since I have played dragon ball games. I would say I prefer this over the rest of them, because it’s like the anime fighting.
This. I’m not entirely sure about the balance of the game (yes I am it’s shit) but I DO know that it’s fucking sweet to fly around really fast and blow shit up. The BT series is the closest a game has come to reenacting the style of fighting that show had.
DBZBT3 feels like a DBZ simulator, not a DBZ fighting game
That’s how I feel about this game. Why play B3 or SDBZ when I can play 3s or Garou?
Same reason why ppl still play Naruto GNT or Naruto Accel 2 when they can play 3s or Garou
