Priority #1: Do you enjoy playing said characters / said team? It sounds kinda cliche, but if you’re not having fun with the team, you’re likely not going to get anywhere.
Secondary concerns are how well said characters work together in combos thanks to supers/assists, how well the characters work with assists in neutral, and how the characters build/spend meter as a team. But the most important part is that you enjoy playing the teams overall.
What does everyone think about Piccolo? I don’t have the strength to surf the rest of the thread. I’ve been messing around with him and he seems a little hard to work with because he lacks a hard knockdown without meter or out of the corner - unless I’m missing something. I was planning on making a Gohan/Piccolo/Gotenks team based on the Buu saga etc, and Piccolo was the character who interested me the most.
Yeah, these characters are my favourites, except for Yamcha hahaha. Actually, he was a good surprise in the game. Who could possibly guess that he would be a good fighter?
Thanks for the welcome ^^
I’ll try not to be a nuisance with stupid questions, but everyone has a start point hahahah

This should be a good starting point

Oh, thank you. This video definitely help me to clarify some topics.
Anyone having issues connecting to ranked matches on PC? This shit is giving me hella trouble. My connection is great, I’m hardwired, etc. This either doesn’t accept the matches or all my opponents drop.
My friend plays 16/Yamcha/Cell… I feel like he should drop Cell for a character that supports the other two better. He has his eyes on 21, but I don’t know anything about her assist or how well she synergizes with that team.
Welp. Get the word out to ASW and Bamco asap. Desyncs like this, no matter the game and netcode, is unacceptable.
EDIT: I think I had this bug in the Beta. It was the last member standing and I noticed that both of our inputs were frozen, so the only way the match could end was for the timer to hit 0 (I had A18 in my team at the time). This might be an A18 specific bug.
Yea I told him that a horizontal beam assist is what that team needs. He also mentioned trying Tien. Don’t know how his Dodonpa compares to the other beam assists.
I had this experience from the Beta. All that happens for the player on the right is that the inputs will completely be frozen (as stated from the post above.) I just didn’t realize what actually caused it (if it was absolute terrible connection that it kicked the other guy but not me, etc… figured they would be able to log these errors in the beta, but I guess not.)
Nothing could be done once the victory screen timer goes to 0. The other person has to sit there and wait for the game time to go down to 0 (and yes, it does not disconnect everyone when the other person chooses to quit in the rematch menu).
Finally, once the time out does occur for the last guy, that person will sit through the victory screen, and the results screen will just be a quick exit (automatically triggers quit for both players basically).
EDIT: As for the timer guy, hard to say. I’d assume that the guy immediately gets to leave once the timer hits 0 as that might just be a client-sided option choice.
TLDR: Once someone enters results screen and the results timer hits 0 → Flag triggers to nullify any button/directional inputs in-game (outside of the results screen obviously).
I literally couldn’t enter the same lobby as Froztey because we didn’t use the same download servers.
Also you wouldn’t be that positive if you actually tried matchmaking. Have fun with 10 minutes queues that lead into 8fr matches.
the online is truly the greatest failure of this game
not being able to invite someone directly to your lobby is ridiculously bad, the matchmaking is iffy for lots of people, even a little lag makes the game very unpleasant to play
the last one is unavoidable with delay based netcode but the other two are complete question marks. arcsys knows how to do these basic things, yet here we are two weeks in wondering when its gonna get fixed.
in unrelated gripes they should also at least give you a choice to start the game online/offline at the launch screen, options to set the in-game control displays to a universal button display, more training mode options (recording slots, starting ginyu member, etc), and even little touches like setting the lobby music or choosing whether the game plays stage or character themes would be great
the game is really a blast to play and learn but if they dont sort out the online at least I worry for the game’s long term future
I really liked this game and have been playing only ranked matches until 400,000+ BP (Supreme Kai / Demon) when the meta is starting to show. Now every ranked match is a loop of unescapable 50/50s by top players frequently consisting of Cell/A.Gohan + Vegeta which takes away 60% of one character’s life once a single hit lands. The combos are normally also corner-carries that lead to other unescapable 50/50 situations with untechable blockstrings effectively ending a game in about 6 easily connected hits. The optimal blockstrings + assists can get really ridiculous with no frames in between to do anything. Reflect and/or Vanish are also not valid as defense strategies. It’s becoming very unpleasant and is reminding me of a lot of games that left a bad taste in my mouth in the past.
Reflect is an exceptional defensive move. It is activr frame 1 and beats everything.
6 hits is a lot of hits in any fighting game. I cant think of a game off the top of my head where you will live after 6 clean hits. The advice is hit them before they hit you.
This game is also incredibly forgiving in that it resets to neutral when your character dies. You get a minimum of 3 chances to play.
